Top 10 Best Changes & Additions the Harry Potter Movies Made

The Harry Potter book series was adapted into eight movies. Each movie depicts the events described in one book, except for the last one. The last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was depicted throughout two movies.

Besides the original book series, there is the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which was written as a drama, and the Fantastic Beasts franchise, which depicts the events leading up to the legendary duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. Currently, there are only two movies with the third one on the way, but the original contract was signed for five movies.

Design And Special Effects

Judianna Makovsky served as the costume designer. She re-designed the Quidditch robes, having initially planned to use those shown on the cover of the American book, but deemed them “a mess.” Instead, she dressed the Quidditch players in “preppie sweaters, 19th-century fencing breeches and arm guards.” Production designer Stuart Craig built the sets at Leavesden Studios, including Hogwarts Great Hall, basing it on many English cathedrals. Although originally asked to use an existing old street to film the Diagon Alley scenes, Craig decided to build his own set, comprising Tudor, Georgian and Queen Anne architecture.

Columbus originally planned to use both animatronics and CGI animation to create the magical creatures, including Fluffy. Nick Dudman, who worked on Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, was given the task of creating the needed prosthetics, with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop providing creature effects. John Coppinger stated that the magical creatures that needed to be created had to be designed multiple times. The film features nearly 600 special effects shots, involving numerous companies. Industrial Light & Magic created Lord Voldemort‘s face on the back of Quirrell, Rhythm & Hues animated Norbert and Sony Pictures Imageworks produced the Quidditch scenes.

Home Market Releases For March 28th 2017

Its a good week for Pick of the Week contenders, as there are seven such releases on this weeks list. Unfortunately, none of them really scream out as The Pick of the Week. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is by far the biggest, but it is only out on Video on Demandright now, while Hidden Figures is the best, but again, it is only on VOD this week. There are also a couple of busted Oscar-bait films, Archer: Season Seven is only getting a DVD release, while the previous seasons came out on Blu-ray. In the end, I went with Mystery Science Theater 3000: Volume XXXVIII, partially to celebrate the return of the show. More…

It broke the previous international and worldwide records that were held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II. Casting The Roles Of Harry Ron And Hermione

Daniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2Trafalgar SquareLondon

In 2000, after a seven-month search, lead actor Daniel Radcliffe was discovered by producer David Heyman and writer Steve Kloves seated just behind them in a theatre. In Heyman’s own words, “There sitting behind me was this boy with these big blue eyes. It was Dan Radcliffe. I remember my first impressions: He was curious and funny and so energetic. There was real generosity too, and sweetness. But at the same time he was really voracious and with hunger for knowledge of whatever kind.”

Radcliffe had already established himself as an actor in the 1999 BBC television production of David Copperfield in which he played the title role’s childhood years. Heyman persuaded Radcliffe’s parents to allow him to audition for the part of Harry Potter, which involved Radcliffe being filmed. Rowling was enthusiastic after viewing Radcliffe’s filmed test, saying she didn’t think there was a better choice for the part of Harry Potter.

Also in 2000, the then unknown British actors Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were selected from thousands of auditioning children to play the roles of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively. Their only previous acting experience was in school plays. Grint was eleven years old and Watson ten at the time they were cast.

Along with Newt, we meet American witches and wizards like Tina and her sister Queenie , a muggle/no-maj baker Jacob , and the infamous Gellert Grindelwald , whose crimes are mentioned throughout the Harry Potter series prior to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This film acts as a way to expand the Potterverse.

Weekend Predictions: Will Fantastic Be Fantastic Or Will It Merely Be A Beast At The Box Office

At the beginning of the month, we thought there would be four wide releases / expansions this week. However, it turns out there will be just one, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The lack of wide releases should help it at the box office and there is a small chance it could top $100 million over the next three days. While there are no other wide releases, there are a few films opening or expanding semi-wide. Of these, The Edge of Seventeen is the only one with a realistic shot at the top five. It is earning the best reviews of the week and did earn a lot of film festival buzz, so that should help. Billy Lynns Long Halftime Walk had an amazing opening in limited release last weekend, but it will likely struggle as it expands into just over 1,000 theaters this weekend. Finally theres Bleed for This, which is expected to barely make the top ten. This weekend last year, the final installment of the Hunger Games franchise opened with just over $100 million. Theres a slim chance Fantastic Beasts will do the same. Even if it doesnt, the depth this year is much better than last year and that should help 2016 win in the year-over-year comparison. More…

You Have Your Mothers Eyes Harry Except Not

It was extremely relevant to the story that Lily and Harry both had green eyes. It was why Snape hated looking at Harry. It was said constantly by so many characters that they had the same eyes. When the movies were being created, Rowling even said this was important.

Radcliffe couldnt wear contacts the whole time as they were deeply uncomfortable which, of course, is fine. But all they had to do was make sure that the actress who played Lily and Daniel Radcliffe had the same eye colour. Didnt have to be green. Just the same colour.

What happened?

They dropped the ball, of course.

Why Did Harry Potter Change Directors

Directing eight films in eleven years is quite the feat for any seasoned director. However, the prospect of signing on to all the Harry Potter films was not the reason that the directors changed so many times.

For the first director, Chris Columbus, it has been revealed that he opted out of directing the third film to spend more time with his family stateside. Columbus was the only American director to work on the Harry Potter films. In the reunion, Columbus admitted that he always felt guilty for leaving the films.
