Harry Potter: How Each Weasley Is Supposed To Look
The Weasley family played a big role in the Harry Potter movies, but their appearances are slightly different than what is described in the books.
As;Draco Malfoy says, “Red hair, and a hand me down robe? You must be a Weasley.” But there’s more to the look of each Weasley family member than the red hair. Aside from Fred and George, each member is wholly unique.

While each cast member was either chosen for their red hair or asked to dye their hair for the part , red hair was the one constant on-screen when it came to the Weasley family. In the books, however, each of the nine Weasley’s had specific characteristics that didn’t translate to film.
What The Harry Potter Cast Should Have Looked Like In The Movies
The Harry Potter;series has grown into a large and beloved Wizarding world. But sometimes, it’s easy to forget the humble beginnings of each of these beloved characters. And while all of these cast members of;Harry Potter;have added unique and awesome qualities;to their respective characters, many of them don’t quite fit J.K. Rowling’s descriptions.
Here’s what exact, faithful adaptations to the movies would have created!
In the movies, Harry Potter is an able-bodied athlete with blue eyes and a sharp jawline. He’s not the tallest student;at Hogwarts, but he’s definitely got the charm and masculine features to make audiences swoon.
Gryffindors Harry Potter Themed Hair
The Gryffindor-inspired hair dye was first discovered by a Virginia-based hairstylist, Crystal Caseys Instagram called Allure. Originally, Casey had posted the experimental hair color earlier in March, after which, she released the lengthy process it look with a step-by-step tutorial. Casey stated, The color itself was inspired by Gryffindor from the Harry Potter movies, with my own twist, of course. The striking color is the resultant of mixing basic balayage with a color melting technique, which results into a checkered like gradient.

Relationships With Other Characters
Orphaned as an infant, Harry lacks a true family. The Dursleys, his only blood relations, disdain him, treating him so cruelly that Harry could be expected to cut off contact with them once he is of age. Cousin Dudley does show some remorse over how he bullied Harry and wishes him well when they part company, presumably for the last time, in the final book of the series. Rather than family, Harry instead develops close relationships with his Hogwarts school friends, most importantly, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, and later, Ginny Weasley, as well as the entire Weasley clan.
Professor Trelawney In Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
A frizzy, out-of-control mane for an unpredictable, bizarre master of divination who delivers one of the most sincerely haunting moments in the Harry Potter series? Yes, this haircut is perfect for Trelawney. Trelawneys hair gets tamer and less ridiculous as the movies go on, which is a real shamethe Azkaban haircut is ideal for the character.

Viktor Krum In Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
A spartan haircut for a spartan guy. Krum really pulls this off, and it fits his rigid character and his lifestyle as a quidditch superstar. Plus, the ladies love itHermione agrees to go to the Yule Ball with him, and during the entire Triwizard Tournament, girls chase him like hes Justin Bieber.
The Weasley Family’s Missing Freckles
One of the signature family traits throughout the entire Weasley family is that they have red hair and freckles.;In;Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, it’s written that “all the Weasleys have red hair, freckles, and more children than they can afford.” While everyone does have the signature red hair in the film, no one has freckles. Not one of them. Again, this isn’t really a big deal but it was part of what made the family stand out in their own way during the book series.

How She Looks In The Films
Before getting her teeth shortened by Madam Pomfrey and discovering Sleekeazys Hair Potion, Hermione was known in the earlier Harry Potter books for having bushy hair and big teeth. In the films, Emma Watsons Hermione has a slightly different spin: her hair is more wavy than bushy, and her teeth are normal-sized for the most part. Christopher Columbus and Watson did indeed try out fake teeth in the first film, but the director quickly realised this was impractical.
Peter Pettigrew In Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Even if you knew absolutely nothing about Harry Potterif the waning minutes of Prisoner of Azkaban were the first you had ever seen from the seriesyou could take one look at Peter Pettigrew and guess that the character had spent the last 12 years pretending to be a rat. Thats a sign of a good, useful Harry Potter haircut.

Harry Potter And The Half
In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Luna is first seen on the Hogwarts Express. When some other female students invite Harry to join them in their compartment by saying that he does not have to sit with Luna and Neville, implying that they are undesirable companions, Harry witheringly states, “They’re friends of mine.” Luna observes in her bluntly honest way that people expect someone like Harry to have “cooler friends than us”. Harry’s response, indicative of the increased fondness he has developed for the pair, is that she and Neville are cool.
At Christmas, Harry invites Luna on a platonic date to the party hosted by Horace Slughorn. Despite wearing a spangled silvery dress, she looks quite nice, Harry notices, and her conversation about the Rotfang conspiracy has Harry coughing into his drink with laughter. Luna also does the Quidditch commentary for Gryffindor’s game against Hufflepuff, during which she says little about the play talking instead about “interestingly-shaped clouds” above the stadium and how nice Ginny is and referring to one of the Hufflepuff players as suffering from “Loser’s Lurgy”. Minerva McGonagall does not quite know what to do with her, but some fans find her commentary highly amusing. This wins over Ron, who remarks that Luna may be mad, but in a good way. The author noted in an interview that she “really enjoyed” writing Luna’s commentary and considered it “blinding insight”.
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Luna and her father attend Bill and Fleur’s wedding at the Burrow, during which she immediately recognises Harry, despite the fact that he is disguised with Polyjuice Potion, simply by the expression he has on his face. Luna later returns to school for her sixth year, where she and Ginny help Neville secretly revive Dumbledore’s Army, to the fury of Alecto and Amycus Carrow, Death Eater siblings sent to teach at Hogwarts. During the first term, the trio break into the office of Severus Snape and attempt to steal the sword of Gryffindor to help Harry on his journey. They are captured and apparently punished for their crime, but the sanction was a visit to the Forbidden Forest with Rubeus Hagrid.
Life after the book series
In Rowling’s first televised interview after the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, she revealed a number of aspects of Luna’s life after Hogwarts. Luna continues to be an eccentric individual and pursues a career that is “the wizarding equivalent” of a naturalist. She comes to terms with her father’s sometimes-false beliefs, but Rowling explains that her background has fostered in her a singular open-mindedness that allows her to make discoveries that more “reality”-oriented individuals might be unable to recognise.

Harry Potter In Harry Potter And The Sorcerers Stone
The first iteration of Harry is the best encapsulation of the character in the series. Raggedy and lovable, unassuming yet brave. As the first film, Sorcerers Stone had the challenge of adapting these characters to the big screen in a way that satisfied the imaginations of the millions who read the books. And because the choices made in the first movie would impact the seven to come, the initial casting and styling of the actors carried even more weight. But thanks to this moptop, Daniel Radcliffe is Harry Potter.
People On Tiktok Are Dyeing Their Hair Like Narcissa Malfoy And Damn I’m About To Try It
File “Narcissa Malfoy hair” under a list of things I didn’t expect to see trending on TikTok. But then again, when has TikTok ever really been predictable? My For You page keeps tapping into my love of the Harry Potter series , and recently, these tributes to Draco’s mom’s hair are tempting me to change up my own style.
In the films, Narcissa has a half-black, half-blond clavicut and side-swept bangs obviously on point for a Slytherin. People have been replicating her hair in their own ways, whether that means visiting the salon or trying the process themselves at home. Some users bleached the entire bottom layer, some opted for face-framing highlights, and others went without the bangs completely. To each their own.
We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite re-creations, in case you’re looking to try out this look. Maybe she’s born with it, maybe she’s a Malfoy.

Gryffindor Or Slytherin Harry Potter Hair Is Trending On Instagram
Sorting Hat not required
re you a Potterhead?
Fancy setting yourself apart from all the other muggles?
Well, now you can. Because Harry Potter hair is the latest hair craze to go viral on Instagram.
First spotted by Allureon Virginia-based hair stylist Crystal Caseys Instagram, the Gryffindor-inspired dye job combines Gryffindor’s red and yellow house colours with subtle hints of blue, green and purple, to create the most spellbindingly bonkers balayage,
The color itself was inspired by Gryffindor from the Harry Potter movies, with my own twist of course, Casey told Allure.
She first posted the colourful creation early in March, then earlier this week came a tutorial video revealing the lengthy process it took to create the look.
First Casey began by bleaching horizontal stripes onto sections of the hair, then she used a colour melting technique which she painted on vertically and diagonally to give dimension and depth.
A further search of the hashtag #HarryPotterHair reveals that Casey is not the only one to be waving her hairdressing wand in celebration of the iconic boy wizard.
Elsewhere Slytherin supporters have opted for bold green looks.
While others have shown their support for Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff .
Admittedly this might not be the sort of subtle balayage youve been lusting over, but if you fancy looking like you just stepped off platform 9 ¾, this could be for you.
Weirdly Limited Career Options
After a young witch or wizard graduates from Hogwarts, they’re expected to join the adult wizarding world, and part of that is figuring out which career works for them. During the fifth book in the series, Order of the Phoenix, Harry visits Professor McGonagall for a required career advice meeting, and they discuss which classes Harry should take to qualify for his desired post-grad job .
However, besides becoming an Auror, post-Hogwarts options seem pretty scarce, especially according to the adults in Harry’s life. It’s never revealed what Harry’s parents James and Lily did for a living, but almost every adult he knows growing up either works for the wizarding government, the Ministry of Magic , or teaches at Hogwarts. Though there is a wizarding hospital, St. Mungo’s, which is stocked with Healers, and some talented athletes might become Quidditch players, this means there are roughly four viable career paths in the wizarding world, all of which require rigorous schooling and difficult training regimens. The stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which serves as a sort of sequel to the original series, seems to confirm the lack of career options as adults, Harry, Ron and Hermione are all employed by the Ministry, with Hermione even serving a term as the Minister of Magic.

Gryffindor And Butterbeer Harry Potter Hair Colors Are Big This Year
Harry Potter has inspired a lot of beauty trends, starting from lip art to eyeshadow palettes. The new toast of the season is the recreation of Harry Potter-inspired hair color, and its the most awesome thing. The hair color is nothing short of mystical, as it combines a bit of Gryffindors red and yellow colors, with hints of green, blue, and purple, creating a mesmerizing optical illusion from within. The look was created by Virginia Beach-based colorist, Crystal Casey, and first spotted on Instagram by Allure. To achieve the Harry Potter inspired color combo, you need to start bleaching parallel strips into your hair. After that, make use of balayage and color-melting tricks to achieve a vibrant and prismatic pattern.
Cedric Diggory In Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
Played by a pre-vampire Robert Pattinson, Cedric Diggory is more or less a perfect human. Not only is he the wizarding equivalent of a star high school quarterback, hes also extremely nice and respectful to adults and to his less popular peers. Hes like Freddie Prinze Jr. in Shes All That, minus the misogyny. So this haircutwhich somehow stays in place even when Cedric nodsis spot on. It screams upstanding gentleman. On a related note: Its hilarious to me that Harry Potter thought he ever had a shot with Cho Chang while this guy was still breathing.

Magical Abilities And Skills
James’s stag Patronus and Animagus form
- “It took them the best part of three years to work out how to do it. Your father and Sirius here were the cleverest students in the school, and lucky they were, because the Animagus transformation can go horribly wrong one reason the Ministry keeps a close watch on those attempting to do it. Peter needed all the help he could get from James and Sirius. Finally, in our fifth year, they managed it. They could each turn into a different animal at will.”
- Remus Lupin regarding James’ and the Marauder’s talent for transfiguration
Since James was once asked by Voldemort to join his Death Eaters, this was clear proof that James was a highly powerful and accomplished wizard. Remus once stated that James had been one of the cleverest Hogwarts students of his time, and he was able to conjure a corporeal stag Patronus, which was a mark of superior magical ability).
- “You fly as well as your father did, Harry…”
- Sirius Black regarding James and Harry’s talent for flying
- Flying: James was an accomplished Quidditch player, playing Chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team during his school years. He was noted to have excellent reflexes, as seen when playing with a Snitch he had taken from the Quidditch supplies. Sirius also stated that Harry’s Quidditch and flying skills were as good as those of James’.

Xenophilius Lovegood In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1
Xenophilius Lovegood has incredible hairsuperficially speaking, it may be my favorite haircut in all of Harry Potter, and if he were to put it up in a man bun itd be the signature haircut of Williamsburg residents. But it also suits his personality and lifestyle as a free-spirited, political writer. Theres one singular hair moment that clinches Xenos inclusion on this list. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione visit his home to ask about the Deathly Hallows, he leans over a piece of paper to jot down a visual explanation, and in the middle of doing so he looks up and brushes his hair ever so slightly away from his mouth.
Its oddly entrancing and extremely memorable. I cant really explain why, but I do know that lesser hair would not have achieved the same effect.

There’s No Real Measure Of Power
Throughout the series, readers are told that two wizards loom above all others in terms of power Voldemort and Dumbledore, who wield their extraordinary talent in dramatically different ways. While Dumbledore is a righteous, generous, and heroic wizard who believes in justice and the good in everyone, Voldemort, who spends the entire series hunting Harry, uses his power for evil, surrounding himself with sinister followers on his mission to torture, kill, or otherwise overpower any wizard who would stand against him.
