Lucius And Narcissa Malfoy

The names of the Malfoy parents definitely seem to indicate that they are rather nefarious and untrustworthy characters. In the legend of King Arthur, Lucius is a Roman royal who acts as a rival to Arthur. It could also reference a character from by William Shakespeare.

As for his wife, Narcissa has a name that comes straight out of Greek mythology. It is the feminine version of Narcissus, the character from mythology who was so in love with his own looks that he stared at his reflection until he died.

Fred & George Weasley

Fred and George Weasley are the older twin brothers to Ron and Ginny Weasley. The two are also students at Hogwarts in the Gryffindor house and become good friends to Harry Potter as they help him fight off evil entities and trouble at the school. One of the main reasons why fans love these brothers so much is because of the comedic relief they offer throughout the movies and all of their quotable one-liners.

Is Nearly Headless Nick In Hogwarts Legacy

Harry Potter: Main Characters, Ranked By Character Arc

Nearly Headless Nick is shown in the trailer for Hogwarts Legacy, confirming that he will be in the game.

The resident ghost of Gryffindor Tower is likely to be one of the only characters from the original franchise to make it to Hogwarts Legacy. Its not a surprise as the ghost of Nick is as old as the Wizarding World itself.

Since he died in 1492, Nearly Headless Nick has been roaming the hallways of Hogwarts, spooking the students and sometimes befriending them. He also fraternized with the trio in Harry Potter and seemed pretty amicable in Hogwarts legacy as well. The ghost character may play a crucial role in solving the side quests in the game.

Alongside Nearly Headless Nick, Professor Binns was likely shown in the trailer. Binns is the history professor of Hogwarts and is notable for being the schools only ghost professor and for being its most boring teacher. While it wasnt confirmed that Binns will appear, it seems likely.

Harry Potter likely wont be appearing in Hogwarts Legacy because it takes place about 100 years before he was born.

Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the 1800s and will feature a new storyline that highlights new characters. The threat in Hogwarts Legacy appears less severe than Voldemorts invasion of the wizarding world. The player character will be fighting off the witches, wizards, and Goblins with the help of a friendly teacher and two friends.

Summer Holidays With The Dursleys

The summer holidays of 1992 started miserably for Harry. The Dursleys treated him as unkindly as ever and he longed to be back to Hogwarts. His homesickness was enforced by the fact that he did not receive any letters from his new friends. In fact, the letters were intercepted by Dobby, a house-elf working for the Malfoys, a former Death Eater family. Dobby, who idolised Harry, had learned that his master Lucius Malfoy intended to plant one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes at Hogwarts: his old diary that had the power to open the Chamber of Secrets and release the Basilisk within. Now Dobby’s sole aim was to prevent the Boy Who Lived from returning to Hogwarts, where he would be in mortal danger.

Differences From The Book

Columbus repeatedly checked with Rowling to make sure he was getting minor details correct. Kloves described the film as being “really faithful” to the book. He added dialogue, of which Rowling approved. One of the lines originally included had to be removed after Rowling told him that it would directly contradict an event in the then-unreleased fifth Harry Potter novel Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The book’s timeline is not enforced in the film. In the book, Harry’s eleventh birthday is in 1991. On the film set for 4 Privet Drive, Dudley’s certificates from primary school bear the year 2001.

The Muggle Prime Minister

Another tragedy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was the omission of that brilliant opening scene where the Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, visited his muggle counterpart. JK Rowling must also have been disappointed as it was reportedly one of her favorite scenes from the books.

Fudge popped into No.10 to inform the Prime Minister hed been replaced by Rufus Scrimgeour and explain how the wizarding world was now at war. Director David Yates decided to replace the exchange with scenes depicting the fallen bridge Fudge describes and one in which Harry tries to chat up a cafe worker, with the PM briefly referenced in a copy of The Daily Prophet.

Incidentally, according to the Harry Potter timeline the scene took place at some point in the summer of 1996, meaning John Major was Britain’s head of government at the time.

Tom Riddle In His 20s

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince we discovered much about how historys most dangerous dark wizard spent his childhood and came to power, but tragically most of that backstory was left out of the film.

A couple of the most menacing scenes came when Riddle visited elderly witch, Hepzibah Smith, but even more crucial to the series was the scene in which Riddle returned to Hogwarts to ask Dumbledore for a teaching position.

The increasingly snake-like antagonist used the meeting to hide one of his many horcruxes in the Room of Requirement, which he mistakenly believed he was the only student to have discovered.

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore

Dumbledore has one of the longest names in the series, and his name also has a lot of meaning which is fitting for such a complicated character.

To start with, Albus is a Latin word that means white. Percival was a Knight of the Round Table which connects Dumbledore to his status as an iconic wizard while Wulfric means wolf ruler in Anglo-Saxon. While Brian means noble, it might just be meant as a funny joke. And, lastly, Dumbledore is an Old English word for bumblebee.
