When Harry Potter was fleeing from Little Whinging, seven other wizards took his form to protect him from the villain, Lord Voldemort. This event was termed the Battle of The Seven Potters. During this battle, Voldemort and his death eaters were successful in locating Harry among the seven duplicates. In an attempt to protect Harry, Hedwig was struck by Voldemort with a death curse.
Someone Rewrote Harry Potter So Hedwig The Owl Doesn’t Die

A Harry Potterfan has rewritten the story so that the young wizard’s owl, Hedwig, doesn’t die in the Deathly Hallows.
J.K. Rowling’s decision to kill-off Harry’s loyal pet divided fans , and it seems like we still aren’t over it over a decade on.
The beautiful bird was killed while trying to protect Harry and Hagrid from Lord Voldemort’s Death Eaters, and she was hit by a killing curse.
It appears as if the books’ author still feels bad about it too, as she tweeted earlier this month about the guilt she still holds. She tweeted: “I’ve never felt worse about that thing I did to Hedwig.”
Thankfully, someone has edited the book so we don’t have to endure the owl’s untimely/completely unnecessary death.
Instead of poor little Hedwig being hit with a stray avada kedavra curse and being killed, the book now reads:
i’m crying who did this
‘The owl screeched and fell to the floor of the cage. “No – NO!” The motorbike zoomed forward Harry glimpsed hooded Death Eaters scattering as Hagrid blasted through their circle. “Hedwig – Hedwig -“.
‘But the owl lay motionless… for only a few seconds. Then she stirred and popped to her feet, ruffling her feathers. After exiting the damaged cage, she gave Harry a reproachful look that he took to mean “I’m going to fly off somewhere safe and lay low until this nonsense is over”.’
All other references to Hedwig being ‘dead’ in the book were changed to ‘away’ too.
Is There Any Textual Evidence That This Death In Deathly Hallows Symbolized The End Of Childhood
In the beginning of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, we see that Hedwig is killed by the Avada Kedavra curse.
“No – HEDWIG!” The broomstick spun to earth, but he just managed to seize the strap of his rucksack and the top of the cage as the motorbike swung the right way up again. J. K. Rowling has stated that this symbolizes the death of childhood. However, is this supported by anything in the books? Is there anything to assume that this is representative of the death of childhood, and not just a random death?

A Soundtrack For Adventure
Fernando, a diehard Harry Potter fan, couldnt stop herself from nerding out on the five hour trip there.
Fernando thought it would be magic to drive through the blowing snow all while listening to stories about the Hogwarts adventures of wizards Harry, Hermione and Ron.
With her own Hedwig bundled up in the back seat, she hit play on an audio book of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. She listened especially carefully to the chapter where Harry travels to Diagon Alley and receives Hedwig as a birthday gift.
For a few hours, Fernando didnt feel anything like a muggle.
Me and a few of the biologists, before I left, had a conversation about what kind of music owls like, because the owl had a four and half or five hour drive, Fernando said.
I decided to play her the audiobook of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, which is the first Harry Potter book where Harry gets Hedwig, which is also a snowy owl.
As a giant nerd, I opted for that to be the soundtrack to my owl adventure, which was awesome.
The drive was nerve-wracking, she said. It was unclear if the bird had suffered any internal injuries during her fall and Fernando feared the animal might not even survive the trip.
When she was quiet I would get nervous, and it was possible that once we arrived at the rehab centre we couldnt have saved her, Fernando said.

It is also likely that, after Lord Voldemorts defeat in 1998, this Death Eater was either killed or imprisoned in Azkaban for their crimes as a Death Eater.So Im not all that upset that Hedwig died. But Im furious that JKR killed off this majestic owl by having the Death Eaters shoot her down while she was caged.
