Differences From The Books

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets Ultimate Edition DVD Review

Whoa, is this stuff really true? Lavender and Scabior get killed off? Voldy goes after Ron and Hermione with a tsunami in the Chamber of Secrets? Harry snaps the Elder Wand in two? Bellatrix literally gets torn apart by Mrs. Weasley and Voldy crumbles to dust like Quirrell? Looking forward to the movie if it is . And coming from someone who’s seen Saw, but those hypocrites cut Wormtail’s death cause “suicide would be too graphic”, yet they make Snape’s death scene gorier than in the book? Really? Voldy actually slashes his throat open with the Elder Wand? Ghostkaiba297 02:21, April 8, 2011

And one more thing: It listed Wormtail and Scorpius in the cast, but it also listed them under omitted characters. Which is true? Ghostkaiba297 02:22, April 8, 2011

there is actually 97 days till the 15th of july

The movie was test screened a few days ago for a select audience. Everything mentioned above is true. Voldemort doesn’t go after Ron and Hermione specifically. He attacks the castle from a distance with a powerfull spell which causes the Chamber of Secrets to flood. Although the actors playing Wormtail and Scorpius Malfoy may have filmed their scenes they weren’t in the movie.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 Review

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Directed by David Yates

Rated PG-13

Runtime: 146 min

The prelude to its more well known follow up and final chapter to the entire series, Deathly Hollows Part 1 is a marvelously well made movie. Its grander Im scale compared to anything seen in the series before this. It has action, drama, and look that you expect from a big, blockbuster of a movie. Yet, in a way, coming out of this movie its hard to shake that sense that the better half of this epic conclusion is in the next movie.

Right from the beginning of the film, Part 1 just feels bigger. Were out of the friendly confines of Hogwarts School and are thrown into a whirlwind of events that force the characters of Ron, Hermione and Harry on the run from snatchers death eaters and others. Honestly, most people complain about this movie being slow and drawn out, and Ill get to that soon. However, watching it this time, I forgot about how much action kicks off this movie. Arguably one of the best sequences in the whole series is his escape with Hagrid from his childhood residence. It was anything but a home!

And trust me, whats to come is well worth the wait.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 1 gets a 8/10

Sabrina The Teenage Witch

Before Sabrina the Teenage Witch was a terrifying show on Netflix, it was a sweet, slightly cheesy comic book, which was then made into a sweet, very cheesy movie.

The movie tells the story of Sabrina, a regular teenage girl, who lives with her aunts, has a crush on the hottest boy in school and just happens to become a witch on her sixteenth birthday.

This movie served as the pilot for the hugely popular ABC show.

If your children arent quite ready for the terrifying world of Netflixs Sabrina, introduce them to her with this movie. Theyre sure to love it.

What You Need To Know

Parents of Harry Potter fans! Here’s what you need to know before taking kids to the theater to see the eighth and final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

1. The movie is worth seeing in the theater rather than waiting for the DVD. We saw our screening in 3-D, but aside from the nifty Harry Potter 3-D glasses, I can’t say that 3-D really added much to the experience of the film.

2. It is rated PG-13 for a reason. There is violence, there is death, there is tension, there is ugliness. There is a teeny bit of profanity . There is not lots of goreat least, no more so than in the other movies. If your children have already seen The Order of the Phoenix or Deathly Hallows Part 1 and enjoyed them, they will enjoy this movie. But if they had trouble with those movies, they’re probably not ready for this one.

3. It is indeed necessary to see the other movies in order fully to understandand therefore enjoyDeathly Hallows Part 2. My husband accompanied us to Part 1 in November, and, not having read the books, was clueless. If you haven’t seen the movies, I would suggest a Harry Potter marathon, then hightail it over to the theater to see Part 2 on the big screen.

8. This may be the best film in the series. If you have enjoyed the other films, you will absolutely not be disappointed. The acting is top-notch. The special effects are awesome without being overdone. The themes are moving.

The Links To The Real World

PG

One of the most enticing things about the wizarding world is that it runs parallel to ours. There are subtle crossovers and references to muggle marvels throughout the books that help it seem somehow in reach and therefore all the more believable. One of our favourite historical crossovers is the Malfoy family and the quest for the British throne. In a Pottermore entry, Rowling explains that an ancestor of Draco “was an unsuccessful aspirant to the hand of Elizabeth I” and due to her rejections cursed her luck in love going forward.

It Got Young Children Reading

While the books were released before the age of the internet as we know it, they have played an important role in getting young children across the world invested in the world of literature. In fact, it’s estimated that over 450 million copies have been sold and while that doesn’t translate into direct reads – there’s also the highly likely fact that there are constant re-readers – the series of novels has had a serious impact on the literature scene, and JK Rowling’s bank account.

Why Denis Villeneuves Dune Is Rated Pg

2020 is a year where many things have not gone according to plan, particularly movie releases. For example, Dune was supposed to open in theaters on December 18, but Warner Bros eventually decided to push it to fall 2021. So were still a ways off from seeing Denis Villeneuves adaptation of author Frank Herberts seminal sci-fi novel, but at least we dont have to wait that long to learn what its rated, as its been officially declared that Dune will be PG-13.

So why has Dune been stamped with a PG-13 rating. The reasons are listed below, as passed on by Filmaratings.com:

Rated PG-13 for sequences of strong violence, some disturbing images and suggestive material.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Dune certainly isnt a story intended for children, and while there isnt necessarily enough material in the story to elevate it to R-rated territory, theres definitely plenty of room for it to operate in a PG-13 space. David Lynchs Dune, which came out in 1984, was also rated PG-13, although that movie adapted all of the original novel, whereas Denis Villeneuves upcoming movie will only cover the first half of the book.

It Shone A Light On Mental Health

Rowling has explained on several occasions that plot features refer to significant milestones in her own life. Exploring her own experience with depression, she has likened it to the evil, soul-sucking way dementors operate. What it’s also worth noting is the spell conjured to overcome the demontors. In order to eliminate them you need to produce a patronus, and in order to produce one you need to produce a memory of significant strength. Essentially, when things around you feel dark, focus on positive thoughts and happy memories.

The Costumes And Descriptions

One of the main reasons that the series has become so loved is it’s attention to detail and the costumes, clothing choices and descriptions of the characters. Think Harry’s lightening-shaped scar, his broken glasses and his “mother’s eyes”. Umbridge’s saccharine aesthetic which is so different to her cold elitist approach to governing and the differing appearances of Durmstrang, Beauxbatons and Hogwarts students. Yes, the film franchise has helped us grasp this, but the way that Rowling included and focused on character aided the magic of the story.

The Tale Has Shaped A Generation

If you’re in your teens, you’ve never known a world without Harry Potter. Millennial lives have been enriched by this humble tale. It’s no secret that our generation love a nostalgic throwback and for many the story of the boy who lived is the ultimate childhood pillar. We’ll insist our children read the books and no matter what time of year, mood or age, nothing could ever beat a Sunday afternoon HP binge.

Is It Any Good

The movie;alternates between being a frenetic, nail-biting thriller and a slow-moving adolescent relationship drama set against a beautifully shot, expansive backdrop. Director David Yates, back for his third Potter film, speeds through the action sequences early in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 — like the fantastic Seven Potters scene, in which six of Harry’s friends masquerade as him so that they can help move him to safety. But the second act, when Harry, Ron, and Hermione are camping, hiding, and waiting for inspiration can feel sluggish. The series’ most fervent fans may feel disappointed that some scenes and characters were barely in the movie; it would have been great to see more of Remus, the Weasleys , Neville , Krum, Dean, and more. And an entire review could be dedicated to all of the important details in the novel that didn’t make the cut.

The Cute Reason Jason Momoa Probably Won’t See Dune When It Comes Out

Denis Villeneuve, whose credits include Prisoners, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049, had expressed interest for years in adapting Dune as a two-part film series, and in early 2017, it was confirmed hed direct the project. Brian Herbert recently described Villeneuves Dune as the definitive film adaptation of his fathers novel. As of right now, while Dune 2, i.e. the movie that will chronicle the second half of the original book, hasnt officially been given the green light yet, Jon Spaihts, who co-wrote Dune with Villeneuve and Eric Roth, is penning the screenplay. Theres also a prequel series in development for HBO Max called Dune: The Sisterhood.

Dune is slated to drop on October 1, 2021, though if that ends up changing, we here at CinemaBlend will let you know. Keep track of the other movies that are supposed to come out next year with our 2021 release schedule.

One character makes a statement that in essence says we are more formidable to our enemies when we are working together as a group as opposed to individuals. Do you agree with this? How is this evident in reality?

Harry advises his friends that thinking positive thoughts will help them to gain power over their opponents. Is this applicable in your life?

Because She Is An American

I deleted the following statement regarding the question as to whether Eleanor Columbus is returning as Susan Bones: “who is very unlikely to reappear as she is an American”. What is this garbage? No source, just a statement saying an actress isn’t likely to appear because she has the wrong passport. Give me a break. Where’s the source for this? Now if you were to say she wasn’t likely to appear because her dad isn’t directing the thing, that would be fine. 23skidoo 14:40, February 22, 2010

The Quotes That Will Stick With Us Forever

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix IMAX® TV Spot

While the plot often takes centre stage, it’s also worth paying attention to the beauty of the writing. So many sections of the books are quotable and relatable to share at all times of life. Here are some of our favourites: “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”, “But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light,””We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.” And then of course the classic that started this whole magical journey off: “You’re a wizard, Harry.”

Happy Dvd Release Day

The DVD was finally released today, so a friend and I spent the afternoon watching it and talking about it. I love it. Mostly, I love all the Neville parts, the Snape scenes, the forest, anything with Draco in it, Gringotts, when Harry first is greeted by all his old friends, and the scene in the Great Hall where Snape tells the students to tell him where Harry is and Harry steps out. He has an awesome line “How dare you stand where he stood. Tell them how it happened that night. Tell them how you looked him in the eyes, a man who trusted you, and killed him. Tell them.” . Watch the DVD! Mllehermione 23:22, November 11, 2011

Are there any American DVDs with Harry’s face on the side? There are British and foreign versions but a lot of American copies don’t have that. Is there a American copy that has his face with “Year Seven” above and “Part Two” below? Please I want to complete my Harry Potter collection! SeanWheeler 00:01, December 18, 2011
