Death Of Albus Dumbledore
Albus Dumbledore was the only wizard keeping Voldemort on his toes. Because of his presence, the Dark Lord wasn’t invading Hogwarts looking for Harry Potter. But all lives come to an end, and Dumbledore’s death was premeditated.
Severus Snape was given the orders to kill the Headmaster of Hogwarts, and Harry was told to stay out of it. The helplessness in Harry’s eyes, the sound of Avada Kedavra, and a dying Dumbledore falling to the ground made for an unbelievably powerful scene.

Things start to get much darker with “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” The evil Lord Voldemort is reborn, played by Ralph Fiennes with no nose. Also: a student just straight-up dies, which is pretty darn bleak. That student would be Cedric Diggory, played by Robert Pattinson. Pattinson would go on to star in another popular YA-centric book adaptation. I’m talking, of course, about Claire Denis’ “High Life.”

It’s the beginning of the end for Harry and the gang. Studios love money, and whenever a book series adaptation is drawing to an end, producers perk up and say, “What if we split the final installment into multiple parts, and make more money?” And then everyone laughs and claps each other on the back before leaving work at noon. International Round Up: The Eight Hundred Lights Up Chinese Theaters
The international markets were dominated at the weekend by The Eight Hundreds blockbuster release in China. It was expected to do well, but a a seven-day opening weekend of $113.4 million is beyond expectations, given the 50% capacity restrictions in Chinese theaters. It is actually more than Hobbs & Shawearned this time last year, and helped the box office more than triple compared to last week. Granted, Hobbs & Shaw only had four days at the box office and not seven, but this is still a spectacular opening.

Harry and the gang are back! In “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” there’s a monster on the loose at Hogwarts. Kenneth Branagh then arrives to ham things up, and Jason Isaacs joins the franchise and really sinks his teeth into his role, Mr. Evil Blond Wig. Also, to get to the Chamber of Secrets, you have to go through a haunted bathroom. Man, no wonder these movies made so much money. Where do they come up with this stuff?

Harry Potter And The Half
Where to stream: HBO Max
In “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” Harry finds a book. Wow, pretty exciting stuff. Also, Alan Rickman looks directly into the camera at the end of the film and says, “I am the Half-Blood Prince.” No one else could sell that line, but Alan Rickman could. I sure do miss him.
Sirius Black Reveals Himself
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban helped Harry distinguish his allies from his enemies. Some big lies about Sirius Black – Harry’s godfather – were being fed to him, and when they eventually met each other, the tension in the environment was there for everyone to see.
Harry had little time to trust Sirius, who blamed Peter Pettigrew for betraying Lily and James Potter. Remus Lupin backed Sirius, and that may be what convinced Harry. He ended up attacking Snape, which made the scene even more volatile.
