Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone introduced everyone to the world of Harry Potter . We meet 11-year-old Harry as he discovers that he is not just a neglected child, but a wizard. He then travels to Hogwarts where he meets his soon-to-be best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley .
Quickly, our hero is tested when he learns that dark forces reside in Hogwarts trying to bring back He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named . Chris Columbus directs this Harry Potter movie and really does a fantastic job of bringing new and old fans of the characters into this world. If this first film wasnt so well received, who knows if the franchise would have gained as much success as it did. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone really set the films up for potential success.
Friday Estimates: Fantastic Dominates Charts But With Just $297 Million
As expected, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them easily earned first place on Friday. However, it only managed $29.7 million, which was well below expectations. This is the worst opening day in the Harry Potter franchise since The Chamber of Secrets. The reviews are weaker than the franchise as a whole, but its CinemaScore is an A and thats roughly average for the previous 8 Harry Potter films. The film should still earn between $70 million and $75 million over the weekend, depending on if the high CinemaScore can overcome the Fanboy Effect. Fantastic Beasts 4 Potential Release Date: When Will Fantastic Beasts 4 And 5 Be Released
We don’t yet have a confirmed release date for Fantastic Beasts 4 or Fantastic Beasts 5, so we can only speculate.
After several delays, The Secrets of Dumbledore arrived in cinemas in April 2022, almost four years after the sequel. A large part of the delay was out of its control as the ongoing global pandemic affected its filming.
We had originally assumed the fourth and fifth movies would arrive in November 2022 and November 2024, following the first two movies being released in November 2016 and November 2018.
Obviously, this won’t be the case any more, but if the fourth movie does happen, maybe we can expect a shorter wait. You’re probably still likely to have to wait until 2024 at the earliest though.
In February 2022, producer David Heyman revealed that work had yet to begin on the script for the fourth movie .
As for the release date of Fantastic Beasts 5, we can’t even really speculate at the moment as it will depend when the fourth movie comes out. Unless they film back-to-back though, we might be looking at 2026 for that.
Who Are The Important Characters In Fantastic Beasts 3
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will see the return of all our favorite characters from the franchise. Here’s a quick rundown of the most important ones:
Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander, an employee of the British Ministry of Magic working in the Beasts Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Newt is a self-proclaimed magizoologist. Despite being generally ostracized by the British Wizarding Community at large, Newt is a close friend of Albus Dumbledore’s. Victoria Yeates plays Newt’s assistant, Bunty.
Katherine Waterston plays Tina Goldstein, an Auror working for the Magical Congress of the United States of America . Those who’ve read the book would know that she will eventually become Newt’s wife.
Dan Fogler appears as Jacob Kowalski, a No-Maj veteran who fought in World War I. Jacob owns a bakery and is a good friend of Newt, as well as being the former lover of Tina’s sister Queenie.
Alison Sudol plays Queenie Goldstein, Tina’s vivacious sister. In the first movie, she worked alongside Tina in the Federal Wand Permit Bureau. Despite her easygoing attitude, she’s actually a powerful witch and a natural Legilimens . She joined Grindelwald in the previous film, with the hope of making her dream of marrying Jacob come true.
William Nadylam plays Yusuf Kama, a French Wizard of Senegalese descent and ally of Newt’s who is also Leta’s half-brother.

Will Harry Potter & The Cursed Child Movie Happen
Jack Thornes two-part play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premiered on 30 July 2016, at Palace Theatre, London. The Cursed Child is set nineteen years after the events of The Deathly Hallows and follows Harry, who is now Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at The Ministry of Magic. Whether The Cursed Child will actually be adapted into a movie has not been confirmed either by Warner Bros. or Rowling herself, there is no sure-shot way to know if the movie will be released, if ever. However, this adaptation is not entirely out of the question, as director Chris Columbus, director of Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone, wishes to bring back the original trio for this fantasy project. If this were to materialize, it would be yet another reason for those wishing for another installment in the Harry Potter franchise to rejoice, given the volume of content scheduled to be released.
The Cursed Child Story
Set 19 years later after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child begins with 37-year-old parents Harry, Ron, and Hermione seeing their children off to Hogwarts at Platform 9 3/4. The play continues Harry Potters story through his son, Albus, following Albus Severus Potter as he uncovers secrets from his fathers past in a time-travel adventure. On top of the original set of characters, the play also features Draco Malfoys son Scorpius, Hermione and Rons daughter Rose, as well as Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestranges surprise offspring Delphi. The time-travel aspect of the play could make for a very engaging movie or TV series, both for loyal Potter fans and new audiences, by exploring much of the original story through a fresh lens.

Who Will Star In Fantastic Beasts 3
The headline news is that Johnny Depp will not be returning as Grindelwald following his resignation from the role, though he had filmed one scene in character before that.
Mads Mikkelsen will take over the role, having starred in films such as Doctor Strange and Hannibal.
Returning cast include Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander. Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski and Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament Of Houses
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses is a quiz competition that began airing on TBS and Cartoon Network on November 28. Actress Helen Mirren hosts the game show, which sees Harry Potter fans divided into teams and answering trivia questions about the Wizarding World. The teams are the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. The winners of the competition, which will be declared on the fourth and final episode airing on December 19, will earn a championship trophy and a grand prize package of special Harry Potter experiences.

The play continues in the original two-part format in London and Hamburg. How Many Fantastic Beasts Movies Are There
Warner Bros. released the latest installment in the Fantastic Beasts series in early 2022. The Fantastic Beasts films are a prequel to the original Harry Potter ones, and are based on the guidebook Rowling published in 2001. The first film, released in 2016, follows wizard Newt Scamander on an adventure to find escaped magical beasts. The other two films are the 2018 Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and the most recent release, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
Theres even plenty of behind the scenes footage to consume. HBO released a nearly two-hour special in December featuring Harry Potter cast members celebrating the 20th anniversary of the first film.

Netflix is putting a gritty spin on its YA fantasy content, shrugging off the fairy wings of the Winx Saga and sloshing buckets of blood around in their place. The streamers upcoming series, The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, is being toted as a more grown-up offering for Netflixs teen audience, and the trailer certainly indicates as much.
The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, which is based on The Half Bad novel trilogy from author Sally Green, follows Nathan a 16-year-old boy whose father is the worlds most dangerous witch.
Fearing he will follow in his fathers footsteps, Nathan is closely monitored throughout his childhood. As the boundaries between good and bad fray, Nathan along with mischievous Annalise and charismatic Gabriel will soon discover who he truly is, the series logline reads, per Netflix.
The trailer, which Netflix dropped earlier this month, teases a gory, thrilling journey for Nathan as he grapples with the two sides of his identity but still finds time for steamy hookups and brutal killings.
While the series is still a couple of days away from its Netflix debut, critics who have seen advance screeners of the show are comparing Nathan to another beloved fantasy character, Harry Potter himself.
The Telegraph described The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself as the bildungsroman of a young male witch with a shadowy backstory, whose magical potential is complicated by a daunting prophecy sort of an X-rated Harry Potter.

In order to keep us going until then, Warner Bros has unveiled a trailer for the movie, which reintroduces audiences to all of the recurring characters in the crowded ensemble. The exception is Katherine Waterstones Tina Goldstein, who is conspicuous by her absence from all of the marketing material thus far. It suggests her characters journey may be even more secret than that of the others.

While recasting the beloved original cast of the Harry Potter franchise would prove a challenging endeavor, the studio might have to for story continuity. The characters are considerably older in the play Harry, Ron, and Hermione are in their late 30s when the play takes place. The original three actors of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint are all in their early 30s, still a bit too young to convincingly be just a stone’s throw away from 40. However, should the studio decide to adapt Harry Potter and the Cursed Child sometime in the future, they need only wait a few years for their original trio to fit the roles.

Another thing to consider is how Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally cast, which had caused inevitable controversy back in 2016: Hermione Grangers role was cast with a Black actress, which Rowling defended by saying that Hermiones skin color had never been described in detail in the novels. Perhaps Rowling was asserting that anyone could play Hermione so long as she embodied the essence of the character, but if the studio decides to recast the main trio, they should lean into fully recasting every role.

Dumbledores family life could play an even more incendiary part in the story, with his late sister Ariana Dumbledore almost certainly another example of an Obscurial, having suppressed her magic in the wake of a vile attack by Muggle bullies. Albuss brother Aberforth features in the trailer for the new movie, so it seems certain that well be delving into the troubled history of the Dumbledore clan.

Chris Columbus Wants To Make A Cursed Child Movie
Chris Columbus first mentioned his interest in making a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie during an interview with Variety. The interview itself was for a special 20th-anniversary celebration of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Columbus stated “I would love to direct The Cursed Child. Its a great play and the kids are actually the right age to play those roles. Its a small fantasy of mine.” While it’s true that the Harry Potter trio may be the right-ish age to play their adult counterparts, the entirety of this Chris Columbus fantasy hinges on whether or not the cast wants to return. A Cursed Child movie simply wouldn’t be the same without the original cast, and it’s doubtful Warner Bros. would agree to a film without them. All of that being said, the idea of making the HP sequel is a decent one. The Fantastic Beasts prequel has gotten a lot of flack, therefore it might be a better idea to fast-forward in the timeline, rather than go back. There were many fans of the Harry Potter franchise that didn’t get to see the play for themselves. The Cursed Child could be looking at sky-high presales.
