LET’S SUMMARIZE – HARRY POTTER & THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (Harry Potter Book 5)

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this entire time, you’ve probably heard of the two new Wizarding World movies that have hit Hollywood in the past few years. Led by actor Eddie Redmayne and an all-star ensemble cast, the Fantastic Beasts films tell the story of Newt Scamander, Albus Dumbledore, and the dark battle against Gellert Grindelward in the blackened days before Lord Voldemort entered the scene.

Of course, you can choose to simply watch the continuation of the Wizarding World on-screen but reading the screenplays of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: the Original Screenplay and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald The Original Screenplay will undoubtedly give you that extra level of depth and insight into the characters.

Chapter : Seen And Unforeseen

You are quite right, of course, Professor Umbridge. As High Inquisitor you have every right to dismiss my teachers. You do not, however, have the authority to send them away from the castle. I am afraid, he went on, with a courteous little bow, that the power to do that still resides with the Headmaster, and it is my wish that Professor Trelawney continue to live at Hogwarts.
Dumbledore, to Umbridge

Umbridge considers Rubeus Hagrid and Sybill Trelawney incompetent, and sacks Trelawney. Although Dumbledore is unable to prevent Trelawneys dismissal, he invokes his authority to allow her to remain in the castle and appoints a new Divination teacher a centaur, Firenze, much to Umbridges disgust, due to her hatred for half-breeds.

R.K. Rowling you should really make a movie for the Cursed Child book. Also you should do a whole series on their kids cause people were really interested in the Cursed Child. Also the reason why you should do a movie is because there is already a script written out and your letting many Harry Potter fans down including myself. Sincerely Rylan Strongp.s: please think about this and please a movie on the cursed child. Pacing In Order Of The Phoenix

One really good strength that this book has is the pacing overall. There never seems to be a dull moment or something that goes on for too long. For a book of this size, it would seem that it would be pretty easy to fall into that trap, but J.K. Rowling masterfully keeps the story moving on, making sure that all plot points are being utilized in a captivating way.

There are several major plot points that occur and are equally spread throughout the book along with some more minor points along the way that allows for this book to tick like a metronome.

The series also continues to work its way out of being grounded at the school. There are more events that happen outside of the school in this book what it feels the rest of the series combined attempts to do. This gives keeps certain parts of the book from getting stale as by book 5, we are all very familiar with the school.

Dolores Umbridge: none of with the possible exception of Professor Quirrell, would have passed a Ministry inspection.
Harry Potter: Yeah, Quirrell was a great teacher, there was just that minor drawback of him having Lord Voldemort sticking out of the back of his head.

It becomes clear Umbridge is really there to spy on and take control of the school, and is soon appointed High Inquisitor, arbitrarily imposing rules and regulations . She also harbours racial hatred for half-breeds, such as centaurs, werewolves, merpeople and similar creatures. Umbridge starts to observe the professors in class, where she apparently intends to evaluate all teachers.

    Completion Of The Series

In December 2005, Rowling stated on her web site, “2006 will be the year when I write the final book in the Harry Potter series.” Updates then followed in her online diary chronicling the progress of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with the release date of 21 July 2007. The book itself was finished on 11 January 2007 in the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, where she scrawled a message on the back of a bust of Hermes. It read: “J. K. Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room on 11 January 2007.”

Rowling herself has stated that the last chapter of the final book was completed “in something like 1990”. In June 2006, Rowling, on an appearance on the British talk show Richard & Judy, announced that the chapter had been modified as one character “got a reprieve” and two others who previously survived the story had in fact been killed. On 28 March 2007, the cover art for the Bloomsbury Adult and Child versions and the Scholastic version were released.

In September 2012, Rowling mentioned in an interview that she might go back to make a “director’s cut” of two of the existing Harry Potter books.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry and friends return to Hogwarts with a bang the bang of a flying Ford Anglia as it crashes into the Whomping Willow, that is. After being spotted by Muggles and narrowly avoiding expulsion, youd think that the rest of Harrys second year would be smooth sailing in comparison right?

Wrong. When the school caretakers cat is found petrified along with a bone-chilling message that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened, fear and suspicions start to arise and of course, only worsen when students start getting petrified too. Nobody can figure out who the culprit is, only that he refers to himself as the Heir and seems to be on the warpath.

But as our young heroes know well by now, if you want a mystery solved right, you have to do it yourself. Which they do through a combination of Polyjuice potion brewing, mysterious flashbacks provided by a sentient journal, and a truly horrific excursion to see a giant spider called Aragog. The book culminates in a visit to the titular chamber, which lies underneath Hogwarts and contains yet another deadly threat that Harry must face.

But of course, this being an early Potter book, its not all din and danger. Comic relief comes in the form of moronic, egocentric professor Gilderoy Lockhart, and toilet ghost Moaning Myrtle who, in true Rowling fashion, ends up being key to the central plot twist of the story.

    Topics For Further Study

Another adolescent factor in the novel’s focus is Harry’s struggle to master his moods. From feeling sad and alone with his nightmares, to feeling elated and surrounded by true friends, Harry’s emotional states vary widely throughout his fifth year. As many teenagers do, Harry often feels isolated from his peers because of his unique experiences. He becomes angry when other people believe they understand exactly what he is going through. In these cases, Harry often spends long periods of time alone, whereas he used to seek the company of his friends. Isolation remains a hallmark of teenage life, and when Harry does find himself with company, he often becomes quickly angry at them. Growing frustrated more often with Ron and Hermione, Harry admits that he “wasn’t even sure why he was feeling so angry.” Rowling describes Harry’s “temper,” like many normal adolescents, as “always so close to the surface these days.” Harry’s moodiness and resulting sarcastic or biting remarks, in addition to his newly growing romantic relationships, place him squarely within the typical teenage world.

    Dumbledore, at the Astronomy Tower.

    The Dark Mark over Hogwarts

Borrowing broomsticks, the pair fly to the tower. Upon hearing someone approaching them, Dumbledore uses a charm to paralyse Harry and hides him under his invisibility cloak, before being disarmed by Malfoy. Malfoy reveals that he had let Death Eaters into the school through a pair of vanishing cabinets, which were the objects Harry had overheard him questioning Borgin about. Malfoy also explains that he was behind the cursed necklace and poisoned mead incidents, which were really assassination attempts on Dumbledore. Dumbledore reveals that he had known Malfoy was attempting to kill him, but allowed him to remain at Hogwarts because he knew that Voldemort would have murdered Malfoy once his cover had been blown. Dumbledore tries to persuade him to change sides, but the other Death Eaters join the scene and urge Malfoy to finish his mission. Then Snape appears, and with Malfoy still reluctant to finish off the unarmed Dumbledore, Snape kills Dumbledore.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

While not part of the original seven-book series, Cursed Child and the accompanying stage play have become a generally accepted addition to the Harry Potter canon. This 336-page text picks up where the Deathly Hallows epilogue left off, with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Malfoy sending their unfortunately named kids off to Hogwarts Harrys son Albus and Malfoys son Scorpius serve as our protagonists this time around. Upon arrival at Hogwarts, the boys are both sorted into Slytherin and forge an unlikely friendship, which naturally causes tension between Albus and Harry over the next few years.

After a fight with his father, Albus overhears Cedric Diggorys father Amos asking Harry to use a more powerful version of a Time Turner to go back in time and rescue his son. When Harry refuses, Albus enlists Scorpius to help him save Cedric, with the aid of Diggorys niece Delphi. However, as anyone whos seen Back to the Future can attest, messing with timelines is never a good idea especially in the wizarding world. Things are further complicated by the fact that Delphi is not who she says she is, and may have sinister ulterior motives when it comes to rewriting history.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

Theres quite a bit to unpack in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, so well dive right in: after attending an eventful Quidditch World Cup with Hermione and the Weasley family, Harry returns to Hogwarts for his fourth year of school. Its bound to be an exciting one, as Hogwarts is hosting the Triwizard Tournament, in which students from three major wizarding academies will compete. However, only students aged seventeen or older are eligible for the competition, which means Harry is safe for once or so he thinks, until the ceremonial Goblet of Fire selects him as the fourth Triwizard Champion for no discernible reason.

What follows is a nonstop sequence of thrills, landmarked by the challenges of the tournament in which the contestants must tackle menacing dragons, malevolent mermaids, and a maze full of potentially fatal tricks and traps. But even between the challenges themselves is plenty of riveting drama, especially with Rita Skeeter , Mad-Eye Moody , and Hermiones most recent social justice cause . And as anyone whos read it will know, the GoF finale is unprecedented in terms of dark, difficult material, signaling a definitive shift for the series in a more mature direction.

Shortly after arriving in Mr Weasley’s office, Mr Weasley’s co-worker, Perkins, runs in announcing that the hearing’s time and location has been changed, and Harry is already late. The new location is in old Courtroom Ten in the Ministry’s basement. Since the lift does not descend that far, Harry and Mr Weasley race down the stairs the rest of the way after getting off. Chapter 2: Snape’s Worst Memory

Book review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
What was making Harry feel so horrified and unhappy was not being shouted at or having jars thrown at him – it was that he knew how it felt to be humiliated in the middle of a circle of onlookers, knew exactly how Snape had felt as his father had taunted him, and that judging from what he had just seen, his father had been every bit as arrogant as Snape had always told him.
    Harry, about Snape’s memories

Umbridge is appointed Headmistress and imposes even tighter control. After going through an interrogation with Umbridge regarding Dumbledore and Sirius Black’s whereabouts, Harry learns the Floo Network connection in her fireplace is not being monitored like the others are by the Ministry. Fed up, the Weasley twins instigate a revolt, causing mayhem throughout the school while the staff pointedly do nothing to help Umbridge regain control.

During one of the Occlumency lessons Harry uncovered the source behind Snape‘s hatred for his father, when he went into Dumbledore’s Pensieve and saw both Snape’s memories of being bullied by James and the breaking up of Snape and his mother‘s friendship. Snape ended the lesson abruptly after this.
