Harry Potter Movies Ruined Fred Weasleys Death

Some of the changes the Harry Potter series did werent for the best, as is the case of Fred Weasleys death, which had a bigger impact in the book.

The Harry Potter movie series had to change a lot of details from the books, but one that fans wont forgive easily is Fred Weasleys death, as it happens very differently in the source material. The Harry Potter book series began in 1997 with Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, which introduced readers around the world to the Wizarding World and the characters that would quickly become very close to Harry: Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. The latter formed a strong bond with Harry, who was considered by Rons parents and siblings as one of them.

In the first book , the world met the Weasley twins, Fred and George. Rons older brothers were Hogwarts trouble-makers but in a fun and harmless way they were pranksters and were known for their sense of humor, and even opened their own joke shop in Diagon Alley, called Weasleys Wizard Wheezes. The twins were pretty much inseparable, and very loyal to their friends, helping Harry any way they could, whenever he needed it. Unfortunately, they had a very sad ending.

Lee : And what would you say, Royal, to those listeners who reply that in these dangerous times, it should be wizards first?
Kingsley : Id say that its one short step from wizards first to pure-bloods first, and then to Death Eaters. Were all human, arent we? Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving.

Lee allied with the Order of the Phoenix during the Second Wizarding War. He already knew some members, such as Fred, George, Harry, Ron and Hermione. In 1997, Lee and the other members of the order hosted Potterwatch, a radio show, in order to give information about Lord Voldemort and Severus Snape to the listeners, encourage them and advise them to think that both wizards and muggles should be protected from the Death Eaters.

Lee appeared to be friendly with Remus Lupin, whom he called Romulus during the show. They discussed together about many things that concerned the wizarding world. They also agreed that Harry Potter was alive, and that he made a plan in order to destroy Voldemort. Lee and Lupin fought together at the Battle of Hogwarts, where Lupin was killed. Lee was possibly saddened when he learned about his death.

James Phelps On Fred Weasleys Death Scene: ‘i Feel Like A Really Close Friend Has Died’

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II is undoubtedly the most dramatic film in the franchise and includes one of the most devastating deaths, when the Battle of Hogwarts claims the life of one of the series fan-favorite characters: Fred Weasley.

James Phelps, who plays one-half of the older identical twin brothers of Ron, talked to Parade.com about saying goodbye to his beloved character. Phelps, 25, also revealed that he has just seen the final version of the film, and he predicts fans will be blown away.

On the last installment of the Harry Potter series. Its really good! I mean, really good. I wasnt sure what to expect, to be honest, but it blew me away.

On filming his characters death scene. It was surreal. I feel like a really close friend has died. It was more like a Saving Private Ryan scene than Harry Potter, so it was kind of cool, because every guy wants to be in an action movie and thats what this is. But I pretty much just laid there and fell asleep. I think it was more of a challenge for the other guys than me. Rupert and Oliver , they really upped their game for that one. Hopefully people will like how its been done.

George Was The Better Quidditch Player

I love the weasley twins so much and it killed me when one ...

While both Fred and George were excellent Beaters, and a credit to the Gryffindor Quidditch team, there were more mentions of George hitting Bludgers than there were of Fred. George seemed to be the slightly more aggressive of the two on the Quidditch pitch, described once as hitting a Bludger at a player as a way of vent his feelings, and retaliating for a foul by elbowing a Slytherin Beater in the face. He even had good aim with snowballs. Aggression may, of course, be a very desirable trait in a Beater, so it could be this that gave George the edge over his brother. It was probably a healthy outlet for George, too, as off the pitch he was usually the more compassionate of the two.

Did One Of The Harry Potter Twins Died

Harry Potter star James Phelps has admitted he was “shell-shocked” when he found out his character Fred Weasley dies. The Weasley twin was one of the many major characters to be killed-off during the climactic Battle of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final book and film in the series.

George Ran Weasleys Wizard Wheezes With Rons Help

Weasleys Wizard Wheezes, the joke shop that Fred and George created together instead of finishing their final years at Hogwarts, was an instant success. It came after years of the twins creating new spells and jokes, testing products and marketing on Hogwarts students and generally learning to be successful businessmen. While Harry may have helped with the funding, the two were destined to succeed, with their flair for business, popularity and fun personalities.

After the devastating loss of his best friend, brother and business partner, George was left to run the store alone. Luckily, his younger brother Ron stepped in to help him manage the booming business, making the two closer.

George Was More Sympathetic But Fred Was Generally Funnier

Fred cracked more jokes and one-liners than George did, and was often the first to imitate and mock his siblings . George usually joined in of course, but he took his cue for what kind of jokes they were making from his brother. On the other hand, George was more compassionate when the time called for it. When Fred was teasing Ron over Scabbers presumed death, saying it was probably better for him to snuff it quickly, George at least tried to cheer Ron up, and reminded him he was always complaining about the rat anyway.

George Had A Daughter Named Roxanne

There’s not a whole lot that we know about Roxanne Weasley. She is the second child of George and Angelina, and younger sister to “Fred II.” Fans learn about Roxanne first through the documentary J.K. Rowling: A Year in the Life, but there is also a small amount of information about the witch on the Pottermore website.

Fans like to speculate that Roxanne might be a Quidditch player, since both of her parents were talented athletes. Also, seeing that J.K. Rowling often chooses names with significance, some wonder if the name was selected based on the play Cyrano de Bergerac, or perhaps Alexander the Great’s first wife. Of course, George and Angelina may have simply liked the name.

James Phelps Relives The Time He Found Fred Died In The Harry Potter Book

Talking about what they felt was the most heartbreaking moment for them in the Harry Potter franchise to Metro UK, James Phelps mentioned that while he was travelling in Japan, he was reading the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book which had recently released in English during that time.

He read the part where Fred dies and was extremely shocked at the moment. During that point, he realised how invested and how attached he was to the character and it caught him by surprise when he read that Fred dies in the franchise at the end. That is how he came to know about what is going to happen with his character.

Oliver also talked about his experience with a similar thing when he read the book and found that George lost his ear at the beginning of Deathly Hallows. They mentioned how he spoke to the other cast members and their experience when they read the book. He mentioned that many went through the same feeling, while some just read it like a story. But both Oliver and James agreed that at least the mishappenings didn’t occur in the first part of the franchise.

It’s kind of weird to imagine who Fred might have married had he survived the Battle of Hogwarts, because it would probably have been his brother’s eventual wife. But Oliver and James Phelps have both gotten married since then, the former in 2015 to Katy Humpage and the latter a year later to Annika Ostle.

They also keep a little bit of that Harry Potter magic alive, by remaining close friends with several of their costars. Since the series has ended, the brothers have remained friends with Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Daniel Radcliffe and Matthew Lewis, who respectively played their brother Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom in films.

They Appeared In Several Productions Both Together And Separately

Following their career as the Weasley twins, James and Oliver Phelps had hoped to continue acting, but not necessarily together. They have always expressed a desire to be seen as individuals rather than a matching set, and much of their post-Potter work has reflected this wish. James worked on the projects Ward 3 and The Turn, while Oliver worked on Ears without his brother.

Most recently, the brothers have appeared in the TV movie Danny and the Human Zoo as Brian and Barry Carter. Prior to that, the two made guest appearances on King of the Nerds, starred in the short film Hogwarts Express and played constables in Own Worst Enemy.
