Harry Potter Theory: What Was Dumbledores Actual Plan

Harry Potter – The Death of Albus Dumbledore HD

The Harry Potter series is one of the most beloved stories of this generation, but its not without its flaws. J. K. Rowling is a very good storyteller, but not a very good world-builder, and the closer you look at her stories, the more plot holes you see. The end of Deathly Hallows has always been especially difficult for me to understand. For one, its not entirely clear what actually happenedwhy, exactly, Harry survived and how he later wonbut theres a deeper problem. I have a hard time understanding what Albus Dumbledore was thinking, because Harrys victory, which Dumbledore ostensibly prepared him for, seemed to leave far, far too much to chance to ever work.

Albus Dumbledore gets a lot of criticism for his actions over the course of the Harry Potter series. Many fans even go so far as to suggest that he was acting maliciously, or at least callously and indifferently in his treatment of Harry. ou have been raising him like a pig for slaughter, Snape says , but on that, I disagree. I think its clear that Dumbledore didnt know a lot of important things until late in the game. Voldemort had him on the back foot, and he was searching for answers that might not exist.

This essay is my analysis of what that original plan was and where Dumbledores true mistakes were.

Why Is Snape The Half Blood Prince

Snape was a half blood, born to a Muggle father named Tobias Snape and a witch mother named Eileen Prince. At some point during his school years, he decided to reject his fathers name entirely, giving himself the moniker The Half Blood Prince with his mothers maiden name instead.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix

In the fifth book, Dumbledore is demoted from Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, voted out of the Chairmanship of the International Confederation of Wizards, and is almost stripped of his Order of Merlin First Class due to his speeches regarding the return of Voldemort, although it is reported that he is unconcerned as long as he is not taken off the Chocolate Frog cards. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Magic does everything they can to discredit him and Harry mainly through the Daily Prophet. At the beginning of the book, Dumbledore enrages Fudge when he stops by at Harry’s hearing with a witness to ensure that he is not expelled. While Harry feels better when Dumbledore assists him, he becomes annoyed to the point of being angry that the headmaster refuses to speak to or even look at him.

The Life And Lies Of Albus Dumbledore

The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore

Albus Dumbledore is perhaps the most enigmatic character in the world of Harry Potter. J.K. Rowling once called him the epitome of goodness,1 but Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows refuted that notion. Rita Skeeter’s breathless tell-all about Dumbledore’s shady past shocked wizarding Britain and gave us a new and disturbing look at the venerable old wizard. Yet in the end it is not Dumbledore’s youthful flirtation with pure-blood supremacy that lingers to tarnish his image, nor even his resentment of his sister, Ariana. He repented those terrible mistakes a hundred years ago and learned from them at great personal cost. Rather, it is Dumbledore’s actions in the latter years of his life that impugn his character.

Dumbledore was a good man in many ways. He was firmly dedicated to the Light and he was capable of great patience and gentleness, but he was also aloof and often demonstrated a callous disregard for his fellows. Rowling herself acknowledged this and called Dumbledore “isolated” and “detached.” 2 We see this clearly in his treatment of Sirius in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was cruel to keep Sirius locked up in a house that he hated; however Dumbledore was only concerned with keeping Sirius safe and believed that confining him to number twelve, Grimmauld Place was the best way to do so. Sirius’s feelings were unimportant.

And this is why Hermione does not fit into Ravenclaw, since she lacks their creativity of thought. When you also add in her fearlessness and her strong convictions about right and wrong, which are inherently Gryffindor traits, then there was even less of a chance shed end up wearing blue and bronze.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

In the fourth novel, Dumbledore introduces the Triwizard Tournament. He also serves as a judge during the entire event. When Harry’s name comes out of the Goblet of Fire, Dumbledore is not enraged, but remains calm; simply asking Harry whether he had himself, or had asked an older student to submit his name ” rel=”nofollow”>film version he does get angry to the point of manhandling Harry). When Harry answers no, he believes him. By the end of the book, Dumbledore’s fears are realized when Harry returns from his encounter with Voldemort clutching the dead body of Cedric Diggory and when Mad-Eye Moody takes Harry away from Dumbledore and to his office inside the castle. Dumbledore immediately becomes suspicious and heads straight towards Moody’s office with Minerva McGonagall and Severus Snape to save Harry and to interrogate Crouch. Afterwards, Dumbledore listens to Harry’s eyewitness account about Voldemort’s return. Harry though, only wakes up later to find Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge in the hospital wing arguing with McGonagall and Dumbledore about the situation of Voldemort’s return and the consequences that would follow should Fudge remain in denial of this fact.

Yes Dumbledore Asked Snape To Kill Him In Order To Preserve Malfoy

As seen through Snape’s memories in Chapter 33 of Deathly Hallows:

Ultimately, of course, there is only one thing to be done if we are to save him from Lord Voldemort’s wrath.”

Snape raised his eyebrows and his tone was sardonic as he asked, “Are you intending to let him kill you?”

“Certainly not. *You must kill me.”

And a bit later:

“If you don’t mind dying,” said Snape roughly, “why not let Draco do it?”

“That boy’s soul is not yet so damaged,” said Dumbledore. “I would not have it ripped apart on my account.

Thus, we see that Dumbledore was worried that Voldemort would kill Malfoy, if Dumbledore was not killed, but Dumbledore also wanted to protect Malfoy’s soul. He was able to save both Malfoy’s life and soul by having Snape kill him instead.

How Did Snape Feel About Killing Dumbledore

Harry Potter – Dumbledore’s death scene

Snape was angry at Dumbledore for being tempted by the Ring, knowing it contained a curse.

Actually, he didnt want to kill Dumbledore but he had to do it. Firstly, because he had to keep a promise he had given Dumbledore earlier. As well, it was an act of mercy, as Dumbledore was already dying, from the curse he received because of the Ring.

So, Snape killed Dumbledore but he didnt cause his death. The curse and the potion did it. Nobody forced Dumbledore to put on the Ring neither to drink the potion.;

Dumbledore caused his own death and Snape just finished his life.

Snapes motivation was merciful, intending to spare Dumbledore from a humiliating and painful death in the future.;

The Battle of the Astronomy Tower and the death of Albus Dumbledore had a major impact on the wizarding world. The only wizard Lord Voldemort had ever feared and who had the power to oppose him was finally dead. The battle showed that there was no longer a place safe from the Death Eaters, as one of the Hogwarts students allowed them to enter and one of the teachers betrayed the school. Teachers were unsure if the school would remain open, so some parents dropped their children out of Hogwarts.

Unfortunately, this one was a little bit sad topic to write about .;

How Did Albus Dumbledore Die

He died when Severus Snape used Avada Kedavra on him in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It turned out that Snape killed Dumbledore upon Dumbledore’s request. Dumbledore did not want Lord Voldemort to gain power of the Elder Wand, so he had a man that he trusted kill him so that Dumbledore would be the last true master of the wand.

Snape had been Dumbledore’s man ever since Voldemort threatened Lily Evans life. Snape then begged Dumbledore to help protect her. In return Snape was to suggest to Voldemort that he pretend to join the Order of the Phoenix as a spy, in reality he was spying on the Death Eaters for the Order and only passing on select information to Voldemort.He was killed by snape under the orders of both voldemort and dumbeldore himself. He then fell over a hundred. Feet off the highest tower at hogwarts.

Dumbledore Was 116 When He Died

Even more solid proof has arisen from Pottermore about Dumbledore’s age from his character page.

His year of birth is listed as 1881 and his year of death is listed as 1997.

Dumbledore finishes his 7th year at Hogwarts.. His mother dies.. He stays home to take care of his sister and befriends Grindelwald. That lil three-way fight happens between Aberforth, Dumbledore, and Grindelwald and someone kills Ariana accidently in late summer. Grindelwald flees and then five years later Dumbledore defeats Grindelwald and gets the Elder Wand in 1945. That would mean he was around 22 or 23 in 1945. Making him much younger than Jo Rowling said. Also making him around 75 at the time of his death.

I know this sounds crazy but today I’m going to prove that the whole character of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series is WRONG and it couldn’t be possible.

Clues we know-

  • Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald in 1945 .
  • Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald after 5 years after they parted .
  • Harry’s parents died in 1981
  • Harry was 1 year old when his parents died.
  • Dumbledore died in 1997 in May or June.
  • Dumbledore was 18 years old when Kendra died .
  • Dumbledore was 19 years old when Ariana died and Grindelwald left .
  • Solution-

    Putting all the clues together, I conclude that Dumbledore was 19 year old in 1940. He died in 1997. Therefore, he was 76 years old when he died.

    What Did Dumbledore Say To Snape Before He Died

    Severus please These were the last words Dumbledore said to Snape before he used the Avada Kedavra curse and killed the Headmaster of Hogwarts.

    In the beginning, we thought the phrase meant, Please, Severus, help me! but the truth was different. The ending of book seven Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows revealed that Dumbledore was dying and that he had arranged that Snape would administer the final kill.

    Finally, when the time came for Snape to actually kill Dumbledore he hesitated, regardless of their previous agreement, so Dumbledore had to beg Severus to end his life.

    So, the real meaning of the phrase was: Severus, please kill me right now.

    Why Harry Potter Movies Changed Dumbledore

    Percival’s son, Albus

    Percival’s son, Aberforth

    Percival’s relationship with his sons is not very clear. Percival did not seem to be held in high regard by Albus, especially for being imprisoned in Azkaban for an attack on three Muggles, but years later, Dumbledore wished to use the Resurrection Stone to bring back his deceased family and apologise to them even his father, showing that Albus neverthless truly loved Percival despite all that happened. Like Albus, Aberforth may not have held his father in high regard either for his attack on the Muggles who attacked his sister, Ariana and being imprisoned in Azkaban.

    Why Did Dumbledore Trust Snape So Much

    Dumbledores relationship with Snape was open and close but he didnt trust Snape completely. Snape felt responsible for Harry Potters mother, for her death caused by Lord Voldemort. He had no one else to turn to, except Dumbledore, to keep Lily safe.;

    This was the right reason and a proper time for Dumbledore to take advantage of Snapes sense of guilt and initiated him into the Order of the Phoenix.

    So, Snape became a double agent. As a spy for the Order of the Phoenix, he continuously updated Dumbledore about the movements and acts of the Death Eaters.

    On the other hand, Snape did a great job in the role of Lord Voldemorts spy, supplying him with all of the information about the Order. He provided only the information received from Dumbledore.;

    As we said before, Dumbledores confidence in Snape was not unconditional. Dumbledore did not fully trust Snape to reduce any damage that could occur if Snape was somehow compromised.

    Snape did not like Dumbledores secrecy and was offended by his lack of faith in his abilities. What bothered him the most is the fact he had been used in Harry Potters destruction, whose mother was the love of his life.

    After the Marvolo Gaunts curse and the agreement he made with Snape to kill him, Dumbledore finally granted him the post of the future Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts.

    Yes Dumbledore Did Ask Snape To Kill Him So Draco Wouldnt

    Dumbledore did indeed ask Snape to kill him, so that Draco wouldnt either succeed and maim his own soul, or more likely fail and be killed by the Dark Lord for his almost inevitable failure.

    All the same, try. I am concerned less for myself than for accidental victims of whatever schemes might occur to the boy. Ultimately, of course, there is only one thing to be done if we are to save him from Lord Voldemorts wrath.

    Snape raised his eyebrows and his tone was sardonic as he asked, Are you intending to let him kill you?

    Certainly not. You must kill me. – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Chapter 33

    Dumbledore didnt want Draco to do it and harm his soul, but he also didnt want to die at the hands of someone who would prolong his death and make it more painful. He preferred that Snape kill him quickly, and since it was done as an act of mercy, Snapes soul would remain intact.

    Its clear that Dumbledore did both ask and expect Snape to kill him, and this was always his plan.

    After you have killed me, Severus

    You refuse to tell me everything, yet you expect that small service of me! snarled Snape, and real anger flared in the thin face now. – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Chapter 33

    So yes, Dumbledore did indeed ask Snape to kill him to spare Draco the Dark Lords wrath or a maimed soul because of Dracos own attempts to kill Dumbledore.

    Did Dumbledore Know Sirius Was Innocent

    Obviously Dumbledore didnt know Sirius was innocent. Dumbledore was the only person know to be able to use the Fidelius Charm, and its noted to be an extremely diffucult charm. Lily and James couldnt have learn it in the time they had so Dumbledore would have had to perform the charm; meaning he know.

    Why Was Dumbledore Already Dying

    He was already dying because of the curse of the Marvolo Gaunts ring.

    Marvolo Gaunts Ring was the inheritance of Salazar Slytherin and Cadmus Peverell. It was a gold ring inset with a black stone, which was actually the Resurrection Stone, the symbol of the Deathly Hallows.;

    For years, the signet ring had passed from father to son until Tom Riddle stole it from Morfin Gaunt , and framed him for murders of the Riddle family.

    As the only heir, Tom Riddle decided to make the Ring into his second Horcrux, instead of wearing it. Tom placed a powerful curse upon the Ring anyone who dared to wear it, would have been killed at once.

    When Dumbledore found the Marvolo Gaunts Ring, he immediately recognized it as the Resurrection Stone, one of the Deathly Hallows. Wishing to use it to redeem his family and make amends for his past mistakes, Dumbledore put on the Ring. It began to take effect almost immediately and nearly killed him.

    Thanks to his amazing skills, he had been able to contain the curse from spreading any further. Anyone else in his place would die instantly.

    Dumbledore returned to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to find Snape.; As the Potion Master, Severus was able to manage this issue, with a thick golden potion and a few incantations. As well, he didnt miss to rebuke Dumbledore for his act that kind of wizard must not be foolish in any way.

    Besides the Ring, another thing that contributed to Dumbledores death.
