Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone

Harry Potter scenes that should NOT have been cut – Deleted Scenes

The movie that started it all came in 2001, four years after the publication of the novel. In the film, a young boy named Harry Potter lived with his emotionally abusive aunt and uncle until he learned his parents were great wizards, and he received an invitation to begin studying at Hogwarts, a prestigious wizarding school.

Daniel Radcliffe took on the role of Harry Potter at the young age of 12, along with fellow child actors Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. The cast was rounded out by some of Britain’s top acting talent, and the film went on to an impressive $975 million at the box office for director Chris Columbus.

Richard Bremmer As Voldemort

When Lord Voldemort first appeared on-screen in Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, there wasnt much for the actor portraying him to do. After all, he was hidden behind Professor Quirrells turban throughout the story, and even when he did emerge at the tail end of the movie, his face was still superimposed on the back of someones skull. Richard Bremmer did what he could with the abbreviated role, but wasnt surprised when he wasnt invited back for the characters next major movie outing in the fourth film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, by which time the Dark Lords power reached its peak .

The producers spent a long time fighting to get me so Im very proud to have been the first. But the role is now being played by Ralph Fiennes, who is an old mate, in the fourth film, he later explained . Ive been in the business a long time and it didnt surprise me they just went for a bigger name, being Hollywood led, and Im happy to pass it on to Ralph. Fiennes was already an A-lister with Oscar nominations for Schindlers List and The English Patient;by the time the first film came out, so its no surprise that the filmmakers didnt seek him out for that brief CGI appearance.

Sirius Gets His Dates Wrong

After an emotional reunion with Sirius at 12 Grimmauld Place, Harry and his godfather get talking. They touch on Severus Snape and its here Sirius reveals the Potions Master ran in the same circles as Bellatrix Lestrange at school, suggesting he was always destined to turn out bad.

However, given Bellatrix was born in 1951, the math doesnt add up. Snape started Hogwarts two decades later, meaning Helena Bonham Carters character would have been 20 by this point. Far too old for school, but definitely of age to start hanging out with Voldemort and joining him in his mission to purge the wizarding world of all non-magical folk.

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets 82%

In his review of The Chamber of Secrets, legendary film critic Roger Ebert writes, The first movie was the setup, and this one is the payoff. And what a payoff! The longest film in the franchise uses its 161-minute run-time to delve deeper into the Hogwarts setting, while further fleshing-out its students and staff, who already have the warm familiarity of old friends. In this decidedly darker adventure, theyre tasked with an intriguing series of mysteries to solve, each one leading to the next: Who is trying to prevent Harry from returning to Hogwarts? What terrifying force is petrifying Muggle-born students? What is the Chamber of Secrets? Its a fascinating puzzle that maintains a breathless pace throughout. Although this is our last glimpse of Richard Harris as the definitive Dumbledore, its ultimately Kenneth Branagh who steals the show as lovably flamboyant fraud, Gilderoy Lockhart.

If you thought The Order of the Phoenix was a dark ride, buckle your seatbelts. In setting the table for the series finale, The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 puts Harry, Ron and Hermione through the wringer. As they embark on a quest to hunt horcruxes, our heroes find themselves isolated from friends and family, andfor a great deal of the films second acteven pitted against each other. Apart from a fun opening sequence in which the Order assembles an army of Harry decoys thanks to a big batch of polyjuice potion, its grim and gritty, with nary a glimpse of Hogwarts and its cozy trappings. Thats not to say its badly done, by any meansits just a dramatic contrast from the more playful tone of the first four films, effectively raising the stakes, and hinting at the horrors in store should our heroes fail.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2

Its all coming to an end as Harry, Ron, Hermione, and company face off against Voldemort one last time. This movie reveals all the secrets that have been hidden for seven films, gives fans the big battle between Harry and Voldemort, and fulfills all leftover prophecies.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is probably among the best movies of the franchise because it offers a fitting conclusion to the movies and a fairly exciting and emotional adaptation of the books. Harry Potter fans are some of the most diehard, critical, and dedicated fanbase out there, and I believe most can agree that David Yates may have fumbled with some of the movies but came through in the end with Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix Impressed Many Fans

Audience score: 81%

Fans praised director David Yates for miraculously condensing the longest book in the series into a film that’s just over two hours.

However, many fans felt that “Order of the Phoenix” was more of a transitional moment in the series.

As audience reviewer Daniel M. wrote, “‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ is a middling installment in the franchise which contains potential but lacks focus in its execution.”

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1

The opening scene of the first half of the last Harry Potter movie pretty much tanks its ranking. Why create seven Potters instead of disguising Harry as literally anyone else? The only purpose the Battle of the Seven Potters serves is to kill Mad-Eye Moody and Hedwig. And while Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood is an absolute delight, shes not enough to redeem the tedious second act as the trio mopes through scene after scene of the English countryside.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Chamber of Azkaban! – Whats The Difference?

Everyone has their favorite;Harry Potter;book. It is just upsetting that mine happens to be the longest book in the series.;Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix;beats out every other book with a total of 766 pages.

Now that might not seem like a lot but actually, it is. The next closest is;Goblet of Fire;with only 636 pages. Which honestly isnt that surprising. There is a lot to tackle in;Order of the Phoenix. Not only is Voldemort back but he has made Harrys life impossible.

Harry is trying to focus on his lessons, getting dreams from Voldemort and keeping his godfatehr alive despite the fact that hes still on the run from Azkaban. It is a lot to handle and Harry is still just a teenage boy.

He even goes to court in this one because hes trying to save Dudley and Dementors come to Number 4 Privet Drive. Harry is trying his hardest to save his family and his friends and a lot of the book, it backfires on him. But in the end, he is heartbroken and Sirius Black is gone.

But honestly, I could re-read;Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix;over and over again. Despite how long it is, it is still my favorite one and the story is interesting enough that no matter how many times we revisit it, it is still one of the best stories out there.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was the movie that showed that death was possible in the one-time children’s movie series. In this film, Harry took part in a tri-wizarding tournament that saw him battle in a series of tests to determine the school with the best young wizard.

However, that was just to move the plot along as the true importance of this movie, directed by Mike Newell, was to bring Lord Voldemort back from the dead, setting up the main villain for the rest of the series. Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame was a Hogwarts student in this movie, killed in cold blood by the Death Eaters, and Voldemort declared war on all wizards by the end of this film.

    Harry Potter Movies Ranked

    Just like with the Harry Potter books, opinions on which entries in the series are the best are incredibly varied and subjective. Indeed, ranking the Harry Potter movies by their IMDb user scores reveals a remarkable consistency in fan response, with all eight instalments clustered between 7.4 and 8.1 out of 10.;

The two Fantastic Beasts movies are noticeably the least loved entries in the Wizarding World, a fact perhaps reflected by the second movies drop in box office. The most successful of the two, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, made more money than just one of the Potter movies , but seeing as it had 12 years of inflation on its side, its debatable whether it actually outperformed the earlier film.
