In his final year, Professor Slughorn offered to set him up with job interviews by using his connections at the Ministry of Magic.

Instead, after getting rejected for the Defense Against the Dark Arts position at Hogwarts, Riddle went to work at Borgin and Burkes antique shop. It was this job that gave him the opportunity to acquire both Salazar Slytherin’s locket and Helga Hufflepuff’s cup, which he turned into Horcruxes.

His Infamous Datda Curse Was Inspired By A Mockumentary

Before cutting off his nose and shaving his head, a young Tom Riddle twice applied for the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at his;alma mater. Sadly, however, he;was knocked back on both occasions. Following the second rejection, he placed a curse on the position;preventing anyone from holding the post for more than a year. According to J.K. Rowling, this was inspired by the 1984 movie This is Spinal Tap in which the titular band’s drummers frequently ended up dead.

The curse may at first seem like a petty and spiteful;response to rejection, but it actually helped the Dark Lord in later years. With nobody able to hold onto the post for more than a year, young witches and wizards never really learned how to protect themselves from;dark magic. Whether this was all part of some brilliant plan or just a happy coincidence isn’t entirely clear, but it certainly;made life considerably easier for Voldemort and his followers.

In The Books He Has Red Eyes

Throughout the various movie appearances of Voldemort, the character generally has white eyes, almost like he does not have any color whatsoever. This is very different to the description given in the books. The novels explain that the villain has blood-red eyes, giving him an even more fierce look.

Not only would this mean Molly and Arthur are distantly related by marriage, it would also mean Harry and Ginny are distantly related if Charlus Potter is indeed of the same Potter ancestry as Harry. While on the subject of Voldemorts family, those who skipped over Harry Potter and the Cursed Child might not realize that Voldemort actually has a daughter. Delphini is the unstable offspring of Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange and the last surviving heir;of Salazar Slytherin now that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named;is no longer around.

While there was certainly time enough for a child to have been conceived and born in the build-up to the battle of Hogwarts, many fans didnt take too kindly to this somewhat bizarre plot-point. That said, when compared with some of the other major story beats in the play, it doesnt actually sound too far-fetched.;Given all that he went through to conquer death though, its perhaps a little ironic that something so simple could help the Dark Lord to live on even after his downfall.

Voldemort does not appear in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, although his presence and actions are felt: he once again declares war, and begins to rise to power once more. Rowling uses several chapters as exposition to establish Voldemort’s backstory. In a series of flashbacks, using the pensieve as a plot device, she reveals that Voldemort was the son of the witch Merope Gaunt and a Muggle called Tom Riddle. Riddle abandoned Merope before their child’s birth, soon after which Merope died. After living in an orphanage, young Riddle met Dumbledore, who told him he was a wizard and arranged for him to attend Hogwarts. Riddle was outwardly a model student, but was in reality a psychopath who took sadistic pleasure in using his powers to harm and control people. He eventually murdered his father and grandparents as revenge for abandoning him. The book also discusses Riddle’s hatred of Muggles, his obsession with Horcruxes, and his desire to split his soul to achieve immortality. Rowling stated Voldemort’s conception under the influence of a love potion symbolises the coercive circumstances under which he was brought into the world.

In the novels, Voldemort and Harrys wands only connect once. This is due to very specific reasons with the pair using wands with the same core. However, the movies play out differently. Their wands constantly connect and dont seem able to be used against each other, even when they use different wands.

This is referring to the scene in chapter 10 of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, where Harry and Dumbledore take a stroll down Memory Lane in the Pensieve and observe this scene with Voldemort’s grandfather.

He wanted to examine it, because he thought it was the third Hallow! This means that they’re both descended from the Peverell brothers, making them distantly related.

Ralph Fiennes’ Nephew Also Played Voldemort

Voldemort was portrayed by numerous actors throughout the Harry Potter movies, but there can be no disputing that;Ralph Fiennes is the real Dark Lord. It’s perhaps fitting then that Fiennes’ young nephew, Hero, also played the part of Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Hero, or Hero Beauregard Faulkner Fiennes Tiffin, to give him his full name, portrayed the 11-year-old version of Tom Riddle that Dumbledore visits at the orphanage. The appearance helped to launch the young actor’s career;and he has gone on to win;several awards over the past few years. He still has some way to go if he wants to catch up with his uncle though.

Nagini Was Integral To Voldemort’s Return To Power

Nagini was the longtime serpent companion of Voldemort.

Though the exact date and location of their meeting are unknown, we do know that she was with him when he was regaining strength in Albania. Her venom was also part of a potion brewed by Peter Pettigrew that helped sustain his bodiless form.

Eventually, the snake became Voldemort’s final Horcrux after the murder of Bertha Jorkins.

There is a deep treasure trove of questions that have been answered by JK Rowling in her online chat with her fan site of choice, The Leaky Cauldron, which took place back in 2007 after the release of her final book.

Ignotus Peverell, the third, took possession of the Invisibility Cloak, which of course was passed down to Harry on Christmas Day of his first year at Hogwarts – and Dumbledore had been looking after it on behalf of his father.

In the story, the third brother passed the cloak down through the generations of his family.

In the Dark Arts Wizarding book, Magick Moste Evile, the Horcrux is mentioned briefly. The entry reads, Of the Horcrux, wickedest of magical inventions, we shall not speak nor give direction. However, Harry, Hermione, and Ron soon discover that the Horcruxes have allowed Lord Voldemort to become immortal. A Horcrux is formed when a Dark witch or wizard hides a piece of their soul in an object.

However, a Horcrux can only be formed after that wizard or witch has committed the evilest act, murder. Lord Voldemort was no stranger to murder and as a result, he was able to form seven Horcruxes that he hid around the Wizarding World, they included:

Molly Weasley & Gideon And Fabian Prewett

It was a bit of a blink and youll miss it moment in the books when you realise that Molly was actually the sister of Gideon and Fabian Prewett. The pair are mentioned very briefly throughout the novels as members of the original Order of the Phoenix who fought like heroes against five Death Eaters. It was also revealed briefly that Dolohov was sent to Azkaban for their brutal murders. However, Molly only mentioned her relationship to Fabian just once, when she gave Harry her brothers old watch for his birthday. It is also worth mentioning that, although none of her children were named after the pair, the twins Fred and George have the same first initials.
