I went to steam > Right click on Lego Harry Potter > properties > set launch options

and typed

I am able to start a new game now

So i have been playing Lego Harry Potter for the last month or perfectly without any problems using steam play and Kubuntu 18.04.1

The other day i reformatted my computer to try a different distribution but ended up not liking it and went back to Kubuntu 18.04.1 after a few days

I have a script that installs everything the same so nothing is left to chance in terms of how steam is installed.. the padoka ppa etc….

ever since the reformat i cant load my old save games and i cant stat a new game that will save.

My only option is to play the game without the ability to save anything

The game runs fine but it wont save anything

These are the errors

When i go to load my game i get the error

“No LEGO Harry Potter Years 1 – 4 Data Present”

When i go to start a new game i get

“Failed to Save”

The game offers to play without saving and plays fine.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione see Quirrell walking up the stairs to the forbidden corridor, and they are seen by Quirrell when they enter Fluffy’s room. In the film and book, they do not know who wants to steal the Stone until the last room, though they believe it to be Snape.

The Trio tricks Fluffy with a rubber duck toy in order to distract him so that they can fix the broken Harp.

Quirrell and Snape’s rooms to guard the Philosopher’s Stone do not appear.

Ron doesn’t fall unconscious during the chess game. Instead, he trips over the chess sword while following Harry and Hermione to the last room.

Due to the game’s co-op feature, Harry and Hermione have to fight Voldemort/Quirrell, instead of just Harry. In the movie, Hermione goes and gets Dumbledore.

When Quirrell takes off the turban, his head spins backward to reveal Voldemort’s face.

When Harry touches Voldemort in the face, his parents applaud for him in the Mirror of Erised. When Harry is knocked unconscious by Voldemort, Harry’s parents laugh at Voldemort, because he can not pick up the Stone because he is only a spirit.

In the book and film, Quirrell dies from touching Harry. In the game, Harry fights Quirrell, he pulls Quirrell’s arms off and Quirrell survives but is seen in the Hospital Wing heavily bandaged.

The Philosopher’s Stone does not get destroyed.

Barty Crouch Snr and Amos Diggory‘s hair colour is grey. However, in the films, they are black.

More than a year into its life-cycle, the Nintendo Switch has a library of software so huge its going to put most boxed-edition collectors into bankruptcy. One series thats already brought plenty of its entries to Switch is TT Games licence-driven LEGO games, and with LEGO The Incredibles and LEGO DC Super-Villains already having made a bricky splash on the hybrid console in 2018, heres the LEGO Harry Potter Collection as well for good measure.

If youre picking up this two-game set for the first time, youll begin to appreciate just how far the British studio has taken the franchise while still maintaining that familiar mix of platforming, puzzle-solving and tongue-in-cheek humour. Its easy to forget LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 came out all the way back in 2010 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 the year after, and as such, they represent the days before the introduction of features such as grand mega-builds and bespoke voice-overs.

The first game uses regular classes as a way to unlock new spells with everything from Lumos for banishing dark shadows and good ol Wingardium Leviosa for solving the vast majority of the conundrums involving moving bricks and building certain objects. Its a neat way of urging you to explore more of Hogwarts and breaking up your movement through all four films. You can even use The Leaky Cauldron as a way to access Diagon Alley and use its many shops to buy new parts and customise your characters.

Before starting the game, make sure Player 2’s controller is connected to you computer. If the controller is not detected automatically in the game, then follow these steps:

At the Main Menu select Options and then select Control Configuration.

In the Control Configuration menu, highlight the right side of the screen and select the option Change Device.

Press any button on Player 2’s controller the controller should now appear on the right side of the screen.

Once the controller is visible on the right side of the screen, highlight and select the Accept option. Player 2’s controller will now be activated.

NOTE: In the Main Menu the relevant option is called ‘Control Configuration’, but on the in-game Pause screen it is called ‘Controller Options’.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and Years 5-7 were originally released as two separate games, splitting the two eras of Harry Potter storytelling into larger chunks of gameplay.

Everything here is exactly what players have come to expect out of these LEGO mashups.

Other aspects of the original design hold this back from being a truly updated game as well. The controls were crafted in 2010 and feel very much like it. The visuals are improved, but still struggle to match even their LEGO contemporaries. The games look a bit better on PS4 and Xbox One, as compared to Switch, but noone will look to this re-release as a marvel of modern graphics.
