How Did Voldemort Get His Body Back? – Harry Potter Explained

Cedric’s murder and the ritual

Bone of the father, unknowingly given, you will renew your son. Flesh of the servant, willingly given, you will revive your master. Blood of the enemy, forcibly taken, you will resurrect your foe.
Peter Pettigrew conducting the ritual to restore Voldemort

Harry and Cedric were both transported to the graveyard of Little Hangleton. Voldemort ordered Pettigrew to “kill the spare,” and Cedric was struck with the Killing Curse. To his horror Harry saw a flash of green light then heard the sound of a body hitting the graveyard’s ground. He was then restrained to Tom Riddle Snr’s grave marker so that Pettigrew could cut his arm open and take some of his blood to use in a Darkpotion to restore Voldemort to full power and strength. While taking Harry’s blood Pettigrew refused to make eye-contact, possibly feeling some reluctance regarding his actions.

The rebirth in progress, Voldemort emerging from the cauldron

Pettigrew also took a bone from the grave of Tom Riddle Snr and his own hand as part of the potion. Voldemort regained a corporeal body and therefore was returned to full power. He ordered Pettigrew to stretch out his uninjured left arm, bearing the Dark Mark. Voldemort touched it and at once Death Eaters who were loyal or evaded capture came to him at once.

His Wand Had A Major Weakness

After Voldemort regained his body in;Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire;and used the blood of Harry Potter to create a potion that finally allowed him to physically attack the Boy Who Lived, the two had a duel.

While Voldemort was a master duelist who had defeated some of the best wizards and witches in the world, he was unable to beat Harry Potter.

This;was because there was another protection set up to save Harry’s life.

Voldemort’s wand was unable to overpower Harry’s wand, which came as quite the surprise to Voldemort.

This was due to the fact that the two wands;had the same core – that of Fawkes’ phoenix;feathers – which meant that neither Voldemort nor Harry could use their wands to hurt the other.

This helped Harry survive, as the shades of his mom, dad, and Voldemort’s other victims showed up to help him escape from Voldemort.

Appearances In Other Material

In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, it is revealed that Bellatrix gave birth to Voldemort’s daughter Delphi in Malfoy Manor before the Battle of Hogwarts. Twenty-two years later, Delphi poses as Cedric’s cousin and manipulates Harry and Ginny’s second son Albus Severus Potter and his friend, Draco and Astoria Greengrass‘s son Scorpius Malfoy, into stealing a prototype Time Turner with which she hopes to resurrect her father. Using the Time Turner, Scorpius accidentally creates an alternative timeline where Voldemort killed Harry at the battle and now rules the wizarding world. In an attempt to achieve this future, Delphi travels to Godric’s Hollow on the night Voldemort killed Harry’s parents, hoping to avert the prophecy that led to her father’s downfall. After receiving a message from his son, Harry, together with Ron, Hermione and Draco transfigures himself into Voldemort so that he can distract Delphi, allowing them to overpower her. The real Voldemort kills Harry’s parents as prophesied, and Delphi is sent to Azkaban.

Who Came Out Of Voldemorts Wand

In Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire Voldemort and Harry meet and duel for the first time. During this encounter, we see what happens when two twin wands are forced to battle each other. The wands connected and performed a spell called Priori Incantatem.

Because the wands are brothers they will not fatally injure the wizard holding its twin. In the graveyard, Harrys wand overpowers Voldemorts and forces the wand to regurgitate the spells it had performed from most recent and then going backward from there.

Because Voldemort had used his wand to kill people, his wand spits out echoes of the people it had been used to kill. The wand showed the echoes of Cedric Diggory, Frank Bryce , Bertha Jorkins, and then James and Lily Potter.

The echoes formed a barrier between Harry and Voldemort. During this time Harry was able to take Cedrics body and get to the portkey to return back to Hogwarts. After Harrys return, Dumbledore explained the reason behind the way Harry And Voldemorts wands interacted in this manner.

After this first encounter, both Harry And Voldemort were now fully aware of the power of the dual core protections their wands held. This eventually led Voldemort to try using Lucius Malfoys wand to kill Harry before seeking out The Elder Wand.

What Happened To Voldemorts Wand

Did Dumbledore or Voldemort say it? 85% of fans fail this ...

We dont actually have a final answer to this question. In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Voldemort uses his wand until it commits what he regards as its last act. The last time we know of Voldemort using the wand is to break into Dumbledores tomb to steal The Elder Wand.

After this, he no longer uses his original wand. There is no final determination of what happened to the wand. Fans seem to agree the wand was discarded or destroyed by Voldemort himself, as he viewed it as a weakness due to the shared core with Harry Potters wand.

Magical Abilities And Skills

Rowling establishes Voldemort throughout the series as an extremely powerful, intelligent, and ruthless dark wizard, described as the greatest and most powerful Dark Wizard of all time. He is known as one of the greatest Legilimens in the world and a highly accomplished Occlumens; he can read minds and shield his own from penetration. Besides Dumbledore, he is also the only wizard ever known to be able to apparate silently. Voldemort was also said to fear one wizard alone, Dumbledore.

On her website, Rowling wrote that Voldemort’s wand is made of yew, whose sap is poisonous and which symbolises death. It forms a deliberate contrast to Harry’s wand, which is made of holly, which she chose because holly is alleged to repel evil.

Rowling establishes in the books that Voldemort is magically connected to Harry via Harry’s forehead scar. He disembodies himself when his Killing Curse targeting Harry rebounds on him, leaving the scar on Harry’s forehead. In the books, and to a lesser extent in the films, Harry’s scar serves as an indicator of Voldemort’s presence: it burns when the Dark Lord is near or when Voldemort is feeling murderous or exultant. According to Rowling, by attacking Harry when he was a baby Voldemort gave him “tools no other wizard possessedthe scar and the ability it conferred, a magical window into Voldemort’s mind”.

How Did Wormtail Get Voldemorts Wand

This isnt directly addressed in the books or the movies, but its still a very common question fans of Harry Potter have. After he attempts to kill Harry Potter, Voldemort is exiled and no one is sure where his wand was during that time.

The next time his wand makes a reappearance is in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire when Wormtail returns the wand to Voldemort. Many fans have been left wondering if Wormtail had somehow hidden or stored the wand for the years of Voldemorts exile.

In a web chat in 2007, the book series author JK Rowling stated that Wormtail retrieved the wand from the wreckage in a desperate attempt to regain favor with Lord Voldemort. The way she phrases her answer to the question still leaves some fans debating if Wormtail retrieved the wand right after Voldemorts fall or not.

Wormtail, desperate to curry favour, salvaged it from the place it had fallen and carried it to him. I admit that would have been a bit of a feat for a rat, but they are highly intelligent creatures!

JK Rowling, JK Rowling And The Live Chat

It seems more commonly believed that Wormtail returned to the Potter house when he realized Voldemort had returned, instead of right after his defeat while trying to kill Harry. Because he lived as a rat for so many years most fans agree it was impossible that he wouldve been able to hide the wand without being detected.

He Was The Most Powerful Dark Wizard In The World

Before Voldemort, the two greatest wizards in the Harry Potter universe were easily Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald.

As a matter of fact, the greatest wizarding battle in history was reportedly one between the good Dumbledore and the dark Grindelwald.

When Voldemort rose to power, he soon surpassed even the power of Grindelwald – who was spending the rest of his life in prison after his capture.

Voldemort has mastered;countless Dark Arts spells and is strong enough when casting them to overpower even the most powerful wizards.

For example, he’s even able to control Bartemius Crouch Senior for almost half a year.

He;also cursed;all of the Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers at Hogwarts after he was rejected the job, which involved a spell so powerful that not even Dumbledore could lift it.

How Does Harry Potter Come Back To Life Without The Resurrection Stone

Why Voldemort Hated His Wand || Where Is Voldemort’s Wand Today

Harry survived the Killing curse because of his mothers protection. The night Voldemort killed his parents, Lilly created a magical protection power originating from love.;

The protection was supposed to be lifted once harry turned seventeen, however, Voldemort accidentally prolonged its effects. Voldemort concluded that if he mixes Harrys blood into his resurrection potion, it would course through his veins and allow him to bypass Lillys protection and allow him to touch Harry without getting hurt.

What Voldemort didnt know is that this would also make sure the protection continues to live through his own blood and keep Harry alive.;

This is why when Harry got hit by the Killing curse he did end up in J. K. Rowlings version of heaven he wasnt actually dead. After the conversation with professor Dumbledore, he got the chance to either stay with him or return to the real world.

The Quill Of Acceptance

According to Pottermore, the Quill of Acceptance is a magical object which detects the birth of a child with magical capabilities. It is located in Hogwarts School, where it records the children’s names in a large book. Professor McGonagall consults the book and sends out the subsequent Hogwarts acceptance letters by owl once the child turns eleven. It has been made very popular due to its use in registering users for the closed beta of Pottermore.

Sirius Black’s Enchanted Motorbike

Sirius Black owned a flying motorbike, which he lent to Hagrid the night Harry’s parents died. It is first seen when Hagrid delivers the baby Harry to Number 4, Privet Drive in the first book, and then again when Hagrid uses it to transport Harry to a safe house in the seventh volume. In Deathly Hallows, various modifications have been made to the bike by Mr. Weasley, allowing it to create a brick wall or a net that erupts from the exhaust pipe and to shoot dragon fire from the exhaust, impelling the bike’s sudden acceleration. The dragon-fire feature is used to great effect by Hagrid and Harry when being chased by Voldemort; however, Mr. Weasley did warn that he was unsure of its safety and that they should use it only in an emergency. He was right to say this, as the sidecar of the motorbike, unaffected by Hagrid’s magic dislodged after the abrupt acceleration.

The bike is severely damaged when, with Hagrid and Harry aboard, it crashes into Ted and Andromeda Tonks‘ garden pond. Mr. Weasley covertly tells Harry that he plans to put the bike back together when “he has time”, meaning when Mrs. Weasley is distracted or has forgotten about it. He hides it in the chicken coop and manages to repair it, giving it to Harry between the end of Deathly Hallows and the epilogue. The bike is now still in Harry’s possession, but he doesn’t use it.

Wand And Wizard Reunited

In June of 1994 many years later, Peter Pettigrew was forced out of hiding in his Animagus form of a rat by his former friends, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. The pair were of a mind to kill Pettigrew for his betrayal of the Potters as well as his subsequent framing of Black for the massacre Pettigrew himself had committed, resulting in Black’s incarceration in the wizarding prison Azkaban for twelve years. However, Harry Potter intervened on Pettigrew’s behalf and persuaded Black and Lupin to turn him over to the Dementors of Azkaban rather than kill him, so they could clear Black’s name. This created a Life debt between Pettigrew and Harry, which would be a great help one day years later. However, when Lupin unexpectedly assumed his werewolf form, Pettigrew was able to escape in the confusion and transformed into a rat, escaping to find Lord Voldemort and help him return to power.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Voldemort furthers his quest for ultimate power. He disposes of the Minister for Magic and replaces him with Pius Thicknesse, who is under the Imperius Curse. Establishing a totalitarianpolice state, he has Muggle-borns persecuted and arrested for “stealing magic” from the “pure blood” wizards. After failing to kill Harry with Draco’s father Lucius Malfoy‘s borrowed wand , he goes on a murderous search for the Elder Wand, the most powerful wand ever created, seeing it as the weapon he needs to overcome Harry’s wand and make him truly invincible. He goes on a quest that takes him out of the country to Gregorovitch‘s wand shop, where he kills the old wandmaker. His journey also takes him to Nurmengard, the prison where Gellert Grindelwald is kept, and he kills Grindelwald as well. He finally locates the Elder Wand and steals it from Dumbledore’s tomb.

Rowling stated that after his death, Voldemort is forced to exist in the stunted infant-like form that Harry sees in the King’s Cross-like Limbo after his confrontation with Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest. Rowling also mentioned that, despite his extreme fear of death, he cannot become a ghost.

Did The Resurrection Stone Bring Harry Potter Back To Life

Contrary to its name, the Resurrection Stone is not what brought Harry back to life. Although many people assume the stone has the ability to bring the dead back to life this is not really how it works.

The way it works is described in the legend of the three brothers. Rather than reviving people the stone just brings them back as a shadow of who they were before they died.

This is why the second brother ultimately killed himself. His original wish was to bring the girl he loved back to life but the Resurrection Stone couldnt bring her back.

We actually see the way it works when Harry drops the stone in the Forbidden forest. Rather than bringing his parents and Remus and Sirius back to life, they appear in front of him like ghosts.;

This means that even if Harry tried to bring himself back to life with the stone, he wouldnt actually succeed in his plane. He would simply return to the world as a ghost.

Arthur Weasley’s Flying Ford Anglia

Why Voldemort Didn’t Use Avada Kedavra on Snape – Harry Potter Explained

Arthur Weasley owned a 1960 Ford Anglia 105E that he subsequently enchanted; consequently, the vehicle can fly, become invisible, and carry the entire Weasley family in spite of its formerly non-enchanted interior dimensions , among other abilities. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the car is borrowed by Fred, George and Ron, who use it to rescue Harry from the Dursleys’ house. Ron and Harry later steal the car in order to return to Hogwarts after the gate to Platform 9¾ is sealed by Dobby. After they arrive at school, landing in the Whomping Willow, the car ejects Harry, Ron, and their luggage, then flees into the Forbidden Forest, ignoring Ron’s pleas for it to come back. Mr Weasley soon faces an inquiry at the Ministry of Magic, as seven Muggles saw the car flying across areas of Central London and the British countryside, and is forced to pay a large fine.

The 1962 Ford Anglia used in the film was acquired by Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, and is currently displayed in the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. A total of 14 Ford Anglias were destroyed during the filming of the scene where the car crashes into the Whomping Willow.

A replica of the car in its feral state can be seen in the queue line for the Dragon Challenge roller coaster at the Universal Studios Islands of Adventure theme park. Occasionally it blinks its headlights and honks its horn when its motion detectors sense that guests are standing in front of it or walking by it.
