Lego Harry Potter 76388 Hogsmeade Village Visit Review

The most surprising addition to the LEGOHarry Potter 20th anniversary line-up boils 75978 Diagon Alleys DNA down into a more wallet-friendly set for 76388 Hogsmeade Village Visit.

This pair of buildings sits distinct among the 20th anniversary wave, in that weve never visited this particular wizarding village in LEGO before. Where you can trace the roots of almost every other set in this summers line-up that includes a golden minifigure to the original 2001 product line bar, perhaps, 76392 Hogwarts Wizards Chess this is our first trip to LEGO Hogsmeade.

That should broaden the sets appeal beyond just fans dipping their toes into the nostalgia pool, but even non-Potterheads may be eyeing this one up, given its seasonal décor makes it ripe for plonking into a wider Winter Village display. Thats a lot of potential squirrelled away in one 851-piece set but how does it bear up in the plastic?

Is It Worth The Money

As I mentioned in the introduction, I was lucky enough to find this set at a discounted rate. For me, the £44.99 I paid for Lego Hogsmeade Village Visit was definitely worth it. However, had I paid the full £69.99, I think Id be left feeling a little short-changed. Its not that this isnt a great set, because it is. Its just that given the size, I think £59.99 would have been a much fairer price. Interestingly, thats basically the price it is in America when you compare the exchange rates, although often sets are cheaper over there, so thats not a huge surprise.

I think this set was enjoyable to build . I really liked the colourful interior of Honeydukes, and there were plenty of fun details in both shops that were nods to moment from the movies. It was also relatively simple to build for the most part, although I did have my grievances. The stickers werent ideal, but this was definitely more of a problem for Honeydukes than it was for The Three Broomsticks. Even if you like stickers, I expect youll be disappointed by the transparent ones. They just dont look particularly neat.

Lovely addition to the Harry Potter world. Nice set to build. Only drawback was for the price I expected just a little bit more and I’d rather have printed bricks than stickers which I feel is cheating.
