How Much Money Has The Harry Potter Series Made

How Much Money Has The Play Made

How Much MONEY Did the Harry Potter Films Make? (2001 – 2018)

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a play currently on Broadway and the East End. Forbes claimed in 2019 that it had made a huge $146.5m on the former alone, and, when everything opens up again, it’s destined to be popular.

There’s a clamor for a movie to be made based on the play, and we’d all be up for seeing Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy’s adventures play out, especially if the play is anything to go by. It’d also be pretty amusing to see the trolley lady transform into a giant beast that pursues the pair and a final showdown in Godric’s Hollow, an iconic Potter setting, would make for entertaining viewing.

Limited And Vod Releases: Tragic Fate For Those Who Miss These Films

There isnt a huge selection of limited releases this week, but there are several earning excellent reviews, such as 120 Beats Per Minute, , Tragedy Girls, and others. Additionally, films like The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Wonderstruck are earning merely good reviews, but have enough buzz that they could still do well in theaters. More…

Home Market Releases For March 28th 2017

Its a good week for Pick of the Week contenders, as there are seven such releases on this weeks list. Unfortunately, none of them really scream out as The Pick of the Week. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is by far the biggest, but it is only out on Video on Demandright now, while Hidden Figures is the best, but again, it is only on VOD this week. There are also a couple of busted Oscar-bait films, Archer: Season Seven is only getting a DVD release, while the previous seasons came out on Blu-ray. In the end, I went with Mystery Science Theater 3000: Volume XXXVIII, partially to celebrate the return of the show. More…

How Did Daniel Radcliffe Start Acting

What Did It Cost to Produce Each Harry Potter Movie? How Much Money Did ...

The acting bug may have been genetic for Radcliffe: His parents, and Alan George Radcliffe, both acted when they were children, while Gresham later worked as a casting agent with for several TV projects. Knowing he wanted to be an actor since he was just 5 years old, a 10-year-old Radcliffe got his first screen credit in the 1999 BBC production of David Copperfield, appearing as the title character when he was a child.

In 2000, Radcliffe auditioned for the role of Harry Potterand nearly turned the iconic part down because the first two films were set to shoot in Los Angeles. Director Chris Columbus and Warner Bros. agreed to film Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in the U.K. to accommodate Radcliffe and his family.

The rest, as they say, is history and, of course, magic.

Weekend Estimates: Breaking Dawn Posts 8th

The beginning of the end for the Twilight franchise is here, and, as expected, big money is being made by Lionsgate/Summit. While this installment doesn’t look like it will break franchise records, Lionsgate is predicting a $141.3 million opening weekend, which will be the 8th-best of all time, assuming it holds up. New Moon will most likely remain the top opener for the franchise with $142.8 million, although it will be a close-run thing. Twilight will most likely end up the 5th-highest-grossing franchise at the domestic box office, behind only the “box office gods”, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Batman and James Bond.More…

With Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone set to launch in China today, theres a pretty decent chance that the first chapter in Warner Bros. generational mega-hit franchise will earn just enough to push it past the $1 billion mark in unadjusted global earnings. So, to mark the occasion, I ranked the eight Daniel Radcliffe/Emma Watson/Rupert Grint-starring Harry Potter films in ascending order of global grosses, from the lowest to the highest, with a dash of relevant box office trivia. Also, just for fun, I listed each films respective yearly ranking as well as where it stood in the all-time global grossers list at the time of its release. And yes, I did note inflation-adjusted domestic earnings right at the end. So, without further ado

Weekend Prediction: Is Grindelwald Committing Crimes Against The Harry Potter Franchise

How Much Did JK Rowling Make From Harry Potter?!

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the latest installment in the Harry Potter franchise, but sadly, its reviews are, by far, the worst in the franchise. It should still have no trouble earning first place and will very likely break even just on its international numbers, but this is still troubling for its future. The second biggest release of the week is Instant Family and its reviews are good, but not great. They are certainly fine for a family comedy. Widows is the best-reviewed new release, but its buzz is quiet enough that it will barely finish in the top five. Meanwhile, A Private War is expanding nationwide and that could help it earn a spot in the top ten, but I wouldnt bet on it. This weekend last year, Justice League opened with $93.84 million, while Wonder debuted in second place with $27.55 million. Add in The Stars $9.81 million opening and the three wide releases pulled in $130 million. Theres no way the new releases this year will match that and 2018 will likely lose in the year-over-year comparison. More…

Why Harry Potter Is So Rich

Harry Potter’s parents left him a small fortune, so he didn’t have to worry about money during his school years, but where did that money come from?

Harry Potters parents were killed when he was one-year old and he lived with his aunt and uncle for ten years, so it came as a big surprise to him as well as readers and viewers that his parents left him a lot of money, but how much was it? Back in 1997, J.K. Rowling introduced readers to the Wizarding World through the story of the boy who lived in Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, the first in what would become a series of seven novels, which came to an end in 2007 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Harry Potter and company made the jump to the big screen in 2001, with the final book being split into two films. The Harry Potter film saga brought the Wizarding World to a wider audience, further expanding the books fanbase and also making some questions left by the novels even bigger. In Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, the audience learned that Harry wouldnt have to worry about paying for his school supplies and more as his parents left him a small fortune in vault 687 of Gringotts Wizarding Bank, but how much money was there?

Weekend Estimates: Man Of Steel Posts Biggest June Weekend

2013 has been a nervous time for Warner Bros.. After six straight years as the number one or number two domestic distributor, the studio’s main franchise breadwinners, Batman, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and The Hangover are all coming to an end or already played out. They are running in third place for the year to date, and badly need a new money spinner if they are to avoid lean times in 2015 and beyond. This weekend they got their knight in shining armor, or, more accurately, Man of Steel. The reboot of the venerable Superman franchise will open this weekend with $113.08 million, a new record weekend in June and a huge shot in the arm for the studio.More…

Is Radcliffe The Wealthiest Harry Potter Cast Member

It turns out that being the face of a record-breaking franchise has its perks. With his net worth of $110 million, Radcliffe is indeed the wealthiest Harry Potter cast member. Surprisingly, his costars Watson and Grint arent right behind him. One former cast mate of Radcliffes is the second-wealthiest cast member with a net worth of $100 million: Robert Pattinson, who played Cedric Diggory in Goblet of Fire and went on to star as Edward Cullen in the Twilight films. Watson is next at $85 million, followed by Helena Bonham-Carter and Sir Kenneth Branagh with $60 million each. Grint follows them with $50 million.

Radcliffe doesnt have to work another day in his life if he doesnt want to, which is a nice reward after all the hard work he put into making the Harry Potter films some of the most successful of all time.

When it comes to the highest-grossing films, the Harry Potter series easily comes to mind for many people. Not only did the franchise produce eight blockbuster installments that spanned a decade, but it also grossed billions worldwide.

The eight Harry Potter films made $7.7 billion worldwide, making the series the third-biggest movie franchise in history, according to Forbes.

The outlet pegged J.K. Rowling, author of the “Harry Potter” books, as the highest-earning author in the world in 2019, with $92 million in pre-tax earnings.

Home Market Releases For March 12th 2019

Its not a good week on the home market. There are some big releases, like Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but none of them are good. There are a couple of contenders for Pick of the Week, but the The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends: The Complete Series DVD is a re-release at a more reasonable price, while it is worth waiting to get the The Miseducation of Cameron Post: Special Edition Blu-ray. In the end, I went with a late screener, The Forbidden Photos Of A Lady Above Suspicion: Collectors Edition Blu-ray. It is definitely the best bet for fans of Giallo and / or Film Noir. More…

How The Harry Potter Cast Spends Their Millions

Although Pattinson did appear in Goblet of Fire as the ill-fated Cedric Diggory, most of his fame comes from his starring role as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga. Together, the five vampire love story films in the series have made over $3 billion a small chunk of change compared to Harry Potters seven billion, but still quite a lot.

Outside of Harry Potter and Twilight, Pattinson has also starred in the drama Cosmopoliswith Paul Giamatti, the romance Remember Me with Losts Emilie de Ravin, and opposite Reese Witherspoon in the book adaptation Water for Elephants. Pattinson also plays his own music, writing songs and playing the guitar and piano. In fact, Harry Potter is the third highest-grossing film franchise of all time, second only to the James Bond movies and the Marvel universe.

Despite the mammoth amounts of money the movies have generated, its surprisingly not the most lucrative branch of the Wizarding World enterprise. A very different branch of Rowling’s sprawling empire reigns supreme…
