When Did Harry Potter Leave Hbo Max Where To Watch The Movies Now

Growing up immersed in the magical world of Harry Potter was truly a childhood dream come true.

It was an invitation to leave the muggle world behind and head off to Hogwarts with Harry, Hermione, and Ron, who as time went by became more like friends than mere characters on the page or screen.

For some, the iconic trio came of age and the door closed with the Deathly Hallows.

Many others, on the other hand, have continued to cherish their memories and insist on revisiting the franchise as often as they can, filled with just as much wonder as the first time they encountered it.

Recently, HBO Max has been the place to get a Harry Potter fix, but just like magic, the movies have disappeared from the library. Inevitably, audiences are curious about their disappearance

All eight movies will arrive on Peacock in October. However, things get a little strange from there as Universal says the films will be “available to stream in windows over the next six months starting later this year and into 2021.” It seems that the movies will only be on Peacock for a month, then they’ll leave as the movies begin to be shown on NBCUniversal’s various broadcast and cable channels. Then the films will return to Peacock at some point in 2021.

It shows just how quickly the content game has changed for all the major media companies. Licensing out major titles to broadcast, cable, and other streaming platforms has been a major source of revenue for all involved, and so deals have been made that will last for years that give the rights to something like Harry Potter to a competitor. If WarnerMedia had known years ago that things were going to go this way it never would have made that deal, as the Harry Potter films have been a boon to HBO Max since it launched. We weren’t even expecting the franchise to be on that service at launch, so it was a big deal when it happened, but now the honeymoon is over.

And even on the NBCUniversal side, the situation is not optimum as this deal was made back in 2016, and so that company wasn’t contemplating streaming at that point either. Universal would probably prefer to put the HP movies on Peacock for a much longer period of time as a way to help promote its new streaming service.

How To Watch Every Harry Potter Movie

Published By Dennis Restauro

The eight Harry Potter movies are in high demand, and its typically a heated battle to see which streaming service will own the rights to stream these films. In 2020 NBC landed the streaming rights for all 8 films, and they are typically available to watch on NBCs streaming service, Peacock. However, as of September 1, 2021, all 8 Harry Potter movies are available on HBO Max. It seems NBC leased out the films to HBO Max, as every one of the Harry Potter films is currently streaming on the HBO Max service and nowhere else.

When the movies arent leased out to HBO, NBC will occasionally move the films to the NBC-owned TV Networks Syfy and USA Network. In this case, there will typically be a Harry Potter Promotion available through the NBC streaming app if you have a streaming service that carries the SyFy channel. During that time, the films may drop from Peacock. Since these movies hop from service to service more often than most, this article explains where to look when you want to stream any of the Harry Potter movies.

  • They are available to stream on HBO Max
  • When no on HBO, NBC typically has them available on Peacock Premium.
  • As a last resort, you can and stream them whenever you want.

When Did Harry Potter Leave Hbo Max

  • The movie collection was taken from the platform on Wednesday, June 30th 2021, just in time for a new slate of titles in July.

They were only added at the beginning of June, so they havent exactly stuck arond for long this time around.

However, as Rolling Stone highlighted when June began, it was immediately established that they would only remain on the platform for the duration of the month. Nevertheless, it has still come as a surprise to plenty of subscribers.

A number of fans have already blasted the decision on Twitter:

Does The Basilisk Only Kill Muggle Borns

We know that the Basilisk is controlled by the Heir of Slytherin, which in the case of book two was Tom Riddle. We know that the Basilisk can kill anyone, not just Muggle Borns when you look in to its eyes directly so I doubt the basilisk, as such, has some intrinsic quality that means it can only targe Muggle Borns.

Harry Potter isnt even the only series to encounter this fate in recent months, and Peacock strangely enough has seen itself at the mercy of such agreements itself. While the Jurassic Park trilogy was available for Peacocks opening day push, those first three films in the entire Jurassic saga were shuttled back to their previous home at Netflix as of August 1. As another taunt to the HBO Max librarys supremacy, it currently has to share Batman Begins and The Dark Knight with Hulu, as well as Peacock, which will have those first two movies in the future as well.

In a world where Netflix saw Warner Bros making it pay for an extra year of Friends, and Peacock making a deal to get The Office back in time for its launch, the streaming market seems more volatile than ever. Harry Potters big franchise-wide shuffle is only the latest reminder that, at least for the time being, the agreements of the past will firmly dictate the chaos of the future. If you want to take one last chance to say goodbye to all eight Harry Potter films, youd better do so on HBO Max before August 25. After that point, youll have to wait until October for them to resurface on Peacock for a full month before disappearing again.
