Fred And George Weasley
- Fred Weasley regarding the Marauder’s Map
Fred and George give Harry Potter the Marauder’s Map
Fred and George Weasley stole the map from Filch’s office in their first year at Hogwarts. They had been taken to his office for letting off a Dungbomb and saw a drawer marked “Confiscated and Highly Dangerous“. George dropped another Dungbomb, while Fred stole the map from the drawer. They had to experiment with it in order to learn how to get it to work, but it gave them clues, “flickering into life here and there” when they came close to the activating phrase, until finally they got it exactly. Because of this map, the twins memorised the secret passageways of Hogwarts, which they used for quite a few of their many pranks.
In Harry Potter‘s third year at Hogwarts Fred and George gave him the map. It was a mark of their high esteem for Harry, and their belief that he stood in need of assistance with a destiny none of them yet fully understood, that they later gifted the map to him, unwittingly passing it on to the child of one of the creators.
I Open At The Close The Final Gathering
Sirius died two years later, battling Death Eaters at his beloved godsons side. Peter was strangled to death by his silver hand a gift from Lord Voldemort the moment he showed mercy to Harry. Remus, the last Marauder standing, was killed at the Battle of Hogwarts along with his wife Nymphadora Tonks. The couple left a son, Teddy Remus Lupin, to whom Harry had agreed to be godfather.
We last saw the Marauders together in the Forbidden Forest. Reunited by the Resurrection Stone, the Marauders helped Harry find the courage he needed to make the ultimate sacrifice. Thanks to this, Voldemort was defeated and peace was restored to the magical world. The Marauders were gone but their legacy would live forever.
What Does Padfoot Mean In Harry Potter
Padfoot, Prongs, Moony, and Wormtail ring any bells? The four students who attended Hogwarts together were placed in the same House, Gryffindor. Together, they were called Marauders. Who are they? Moony is very obviously Remus Lupin, the werewolf. Wormtail is Peter Pettigrew, the traitor. Prongs is of course James Potter, Harrys father. And who is Padfoot?
Padfoot is a nickname Sirius Black, Harry Potters godfather got during his Hogwarts years in a gang of students called the Marauders. Padfoot was the perfect name for an animagus who would turn into none other than a dog. If you have not read the books, you might have heard this name almost at the end of the franchise when Harry uses it as a code for Snape.
How did he get his name? Why was Padfoot used as a code, and why would Snape know what it means? What was the motivation behind Harrys actions in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix? You may not know, but you will certainly find out if you keep reading!

The Dark Lords Servant Wormtails Betrayal
After graduating, the four friends were recruited into Dumbledores Order of the Phoenix. Mrs Potter was also a member and soon the happy couple were celebrating the birth of their son, Harry. Sirius, who had been the best man at their wedding, was named the babys godfather.
However, all was not well. Once a certain prophecy came to light, little Harry was targeted by Lord Voldemort. The Potters went into hiding at Godrics Hollow and, taking the advice of Sirius, appointed the unassuming Peter as their secret-keeper. Unfortunately, Peter had turned spy for the biggest bully in the playground and saw a golden opportunity to win Voldemorts favour. Thanks to his betrayal, James and Lily were murdered trying to protect their son.
it must have been the finest moment of your miserable life, telling Voldemort you could hand him the Potters.Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
An enraged Sirius immediately sought revenge. During their confrontation, Peter caused an explosion that killed several bystanders before escaping into the sewers in his rat form, leaving behind his severed finger. Sirius, a member of the notorious Black family, was found at the scene of the crime maniacally laughing. He could hardly have looked more like a deranged murderer if he tried.
Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone
Harry first appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Starting in 1981, when Harry was just one year old, his parents, James and Lily, were murdered by the most powerful Dark Wizard, Lord Voldemort . He attempted to kill Harry too, but was unsuccessful and only left a lightning bolt shaped scar on Harry’s forehead. Voldemort’s body was destroyed, but his soul was not. Harry later learns that the reason why he survived was that his mother sacrificed herself for him, and her love was something that Voldemort could not destroy.
According to Rowling, fleshing out this back story was a matter of reverse planning: “The basic idea Harry … didn’t know he was a wizard … and so then I kind of worked backwards from that position to find out how that could be, that he wouldn’t know what he was… That’s… When he was one year old, the most evil wizard for hundreds and hundreds of years attempted to kill him. He killed Harry’s parents, and then he tried to kill Harryhe tried to curse him…. Harry has to find out, before we find out. And for some mysterious reason, the curse didn’t work on Harry. So he’s left with this lightning-bolt shaped scar on his forehead, and the curse rebounded upon the evil wizard who has been in hiding ever since”.

Did Snape Understand Hes Got Padfoot
Severus Snape was a student at Hogwarts at the same time as the Marauders. Since they often referred to each other by their nicknames, Snape must have known them, as did many other students.
He knew who Padfoot was, and he understood Harrys code. The context behind this question takes place in Dolores Umbridges office after she catches the students who were training on the school grounds.
Once Dolores and her spies discovered the newly pronounced illegal actions were going on in the school she was now a headmistress of, she spent all her time trying to catch them and find out as much information as she could.
Once Harry ended up in her office along with other students, she called Severus to bring her the truth serum. When Severus told them there was no serum left since she spent the last bit on Cho, she gets an idea to torture Harry.
Just before Snape leaves, Harry tells him that hes got Padfoot. Snape claimed he had no idea what that meant because Dolores demanded to know, however, we did find out later Snape understood Harry was talking about Sirius.
Who Is Moony In Harry Potter
Regarding this, who is Moony Wormtail Padfoot and Prongs?
Lupin turns into a werewolf at the full moon , Pettigrew transforms into a rat, which has a tail that resembles a worm , Sirius transforms into a dog, which have padded feet , and James turns into a stag, whose antlers are prongs .
Furthermore, why did the Marauders become Animagi? Once his condition was discovered by his three best friends, they sought a way to render his transformations less solitary and painful, which led to them learning to become Animagi, so that they could keep him company without harm to themselves.
Considering this, did Harry know who the marauders were?
Harry never learns who they were. Sirius also calls him like that when speaking to Harry, even though they never actually talked about who the . At least in Order of the Phoenix, Moddy calls Sirius ‘Padfoot’, so Harry calls him like that when writing him letters/when warning Snape.
How did Harry Potter get the Marauder’s Map back from Moody?
Harry was saved by Barty Crouch Jr, disguised as Professor Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody, who pretended it was his. Due to the map’s flaw, it could not differentiate between the Junior and Senior Crouches. Crouch later asked to borrow the map from a reluctant Harry, but after Crouch was unmasked, he reclaimed it.

What Does Hes Got Padfoot At The Place Where Its Hidden Mean
He refers to Voldemort. Padfoot refers to Sirius. But what is the place and what is hidden there? In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, we find out that there is a prophecy. More than that, there is a place where all prophecies are kept in the form of crystal balls.
Voldemort needed Harry to take the prophecy since only the person whose prophecy it is can take it. Voldemort had to find out how Harry and he are connected and how he could beat Harry and finally kill him to be accepted and celebrated as a powerful wizard who killed the Boy Who Lived.
Prophecies are not harmless as they could be interpreted in the wrong way. If someone interpreted their prophecy incorrectly, it would become a self-fulfilling prophecy as they would fulfill it exactly by trying to ensure it would, or would not happen.
Harrys prophecy was seen by professor Trelawney who Dumbledore hired as a seer precisely because of that: The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix
In the fifth book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the Ministry of Magic has been waging a smear campaign against Harry and Dumbledore, disputing their claims that Voldemort has returned. Harry is made to look like an attention-seeking liar, and Dumbledore a trouble-maker. A new character is introduced when the Ministry of Magic appoints Dolores Umbridge as the latest Hogwarts’ Defence Against the Dark Arts instructor . Because the paranoid Ministry suspects that Dumbledore is building a wizard army to overthrow them, Umbridge refuses to teach students real defensive magic. She gradually gains more power, eventually ousting Dumbledore and seizing control of the school. As a result, Harry’s increasingly angry and erratic behaviour nearly estranges him from Ron and Hermione.
Rowling says she put Harry through extreme emotional stress to show his emotional vulnerability and humanitya contrast to his nemesis, Voldemort. ” a very human hero, and this is, obviously, a contrast, between him, as a very human hero, and Voldemort, who has deliberately dehumanised himself. And Harry, therefore, did have to reach a point where he did almost break down, and say he didn’t want to play any more, he didn’t want to be the hero any more and he’d lost too much. And he didn’t want to lose anything else. So that Phoenix was the point at which I decided he would have his breakdown.”
I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good
My whole family have been in Slytherin, he said.Blimey, said James, and I thought you seemed all right!Sirius grinned.Maybe Ill break the tradition. Where are you heading, if youve got the choice?James lifted an invisible sword.Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart! Like my dad.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
James Potter first met Sirius Black aboard the Hogwarts Express. They sat in the same carriage as Lily Evans and Severus Snape, and lets just say they didnt exactly hit it off with Snape. After the Sorting, James and Sirius took a shine to the quiet but clever Remus Lupin, who had taken pity on a short, slow boy named Peter Pettigrew. From then on, they were inseparable.
The four were viewed as the rock stars of Hogwarts. James was a Quidditch hero and, in case anyone forgot this detail, frequently messed up his hair for added windswept effect and tossed around a Golden Snitch. Sirius was a good-looking rebel and proudly defiant of his familys Slytherin affiliations, adorning his bedroom walls with Gryffindor colours along with pictures of motorbikes and Muggle girls. Quick-witted Remus was the brains of the operation who tried to keep the rest of the group in check. As for Peter, well… Peter was there too. His habit of attaching himself to strong personalities would play an important part in later events.

The Rise Of Lord Voldemort
As prominent members of the original Order of the Phoenix, the boys used their considerable talents for good, but it wasnt always so. Like when they were handed any one of umpteen detentions for hexing their fellow students . And more especially when they picked on poor Severus Snape though, in fairness, it should be recalled that James Potter acted swiftly in rescuing Snape from certain death following a dangerous prank set by Sirius.
Both understood the risks of being associated with the Order. Dark forces would seek to destroy them. But neither expected their undoing, when it finally came, would spring from one of their own close associates.
Harry Potter And The Half
In the sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry enters a tumultuous puberty that, Rowling says, is based on her and her younger sister’s own difficult teenage years. Rowling also made an intimate statement about Harry’s personal life: “Because of the demands of the adventure that Harry is following, he has had less sexual experience than boys of his age might have had.” This inexperience with romance was a factor in Harry’s failed relationship with Cho. Now his thoughts concern Ginny, and a vital plot point in the last chapter includes Harry ending their budding romance to protect her from Voldemort.
This book also focuses on the mysterious activities of Harry’s rival Draco Malfoy. Voldemort has coerced a frightened Malfoy into attempting to kill Dumbledore. During a duel in Moaning Myrtle‘s bathroom, Harry uses the Half-Blood Prince’s spell, Sectumsempra, on Malfoy, who suffers near-fatal injuries as a result. Harry is horrified by what he has done and also comes to feel sympathy for Draco, after learning he was forced to do Voldemort’s bidding under the threat of his and his parents’ deaths.

Special Abilities Of The Map
The map isenchanted to insultSeverus Snape if he should ever come into possession of it and attempt to use it. It did this when Snape confiscated it from Harry Potter and attempted to discover what information it contains, but it simply insulted him as an ugly git. Snape is able to make use of the map later during the 19931994 school year after finding it abandoned in its activated state on the desk of Remus Lupin, who had left it upon spotting Peter Pettigrew in the Shrieking Shack. It is not clear if Snape would have been able to activate the map himself, had he known how.
The map also shows how to access the sealed passages by showing the password required to unseal it . More importantly, the map shows the name and location of every person within the Hogwarts grounds, even if they are wearing an Invisibility cloak , transformed animagi , or under the influence of the Polyjuice Potion .
