Weekend Predictions: Moana Takes On Beast Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most lucrative weekends of the year and this time around we could have a relatively close battle between a new release, Moana, and last weeks number one film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. At least thats what analysts thought, before we saw the preview numbers. None of the rest of the new wide releases are expected to do much. Allied could become a midlevel hit, but I would be surprised if its budget was only midlevel. Bad Santa 2 is on its way to becoming another comedy sequel that bombs. If Rules Dont Applys previews are any indication, it will become one of the worst box office performers of the year. This weekend last year, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 beat The Good Dinosaur rather easily. However, Fantastic Beasts started slower than Moana, so I think we will have a new winner this week. International Box Office: Grindelwald Has Quarter Billion Dollar Global Debut

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald started its international run with $191.5 million on 50,865 screens in 79 markets for a worldwide debut of $253.7 million. Its largest opening was in China, but it had to settle for second place there with $36.68 million on 22,008 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $37.53 million. It had more impressive debuts in the U.K. and in Russia . The film had the best opening in the Harry Potter franchise in 21 markets, but overall, it was only 3% ahead of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in the same markets. Its much weaker reviews will likely lead to shorter legs, but even so, it should still have no problem getting to $600 million worldwide and becoming Warner Bros. biggest hit of the year. If the next installment in the franchise falls just as much, then the studio will have reason to be concerned. More…

Daily Box Office: Ralph Is Breaking Record Books

Its Thanksgiving long weekend, which means many studios are closed and are not reporting official numbers. However, one of the studios that is reporting numbers is Disney and they are reporting record-breaking numbers. Ralph Breaks the Internet earned $18.5 million on Wednesday, which is significantly more than either Coco or Moana managed the previous two years. In fact, this is more than Frozen managed during its record-breaking wide expansion back in 2013. This films reviews are great and it earned an A minus from CinemaScore, so it should have good legs and could top Frozens $93.59 million five-day opening. In fact, some studios think it has a real chance of $100 million during its five-day opening. Im not that bullish, but even if it only earns $90 million over five-days, it will still be a monster hit and way more than we predicted. More…

  • The story of Lupin’s connection to the Shrieking Shack and Whomping Willow is omitted.
  • In the novel, Snape appears in the Shrieking Shack after pulling off the Invisibility Cloak, but in the film, as the trio didn’t bring the cloak with them, Snape appears visible and is seen when he disarms Sirius.
  • Also, in the film, Snape disarms Sirius with Lupin’s wand since Lupin passed it to him when Sirius was so wanting to kill Pettigrew. In the novel, Lupin never gave his wand to Sirius, so Snape never disarms the latter.

Weekend Estimates: Beauty And The Beast Sets New March Record

Beauty and the Beast set out this weekend to show that its not just super heroes who can deliver big openings at the box office, and its doing so in some style. Disney is projecting a $170 million opening weekend for the live action fairytale, and the film is setting records around the world. At home, itll have the biggest March weekend of all time, and the fourth-best Saturday of all time. The studio is projecting it will have the sixth-best Sunday in history, although my money would be on it slightly outperforming today, for the fifth-best Sunday, and that it will challenge Iron Man 3s $174 million for the sixth-best opening of all time. Only Star Wars, super heroes, and dinosaur-themed movies have done better on opening weekend.More…

What Is In The Missing Twenty Minutes Of Sorcerers Stone

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001) Official Trailer – Daniel Radcliffe Movie HD

Its a well-known fact that fan-favorite Peeves the poltergeist was initially supposed to be in the film. The character was due to be played by British comedian Rik Mayall, but Columbus ultimately left his scenes on the cutting room floor .

Therefore, it isnt too much of a stretch to think that Peeves featured heavily in more than one deleted scene.

Ultimately, of course, the series went through several directors before Fantastic Beasts boss David Yates eventually stuck, directing all the films from Order of the Pheonix to Deathly Hallows Part 2. However, Columbus also said that he wouldve like to have returned to the series.

I always wanted to go back and shoot the final two movies, but Yates decided he was gonna stay with the series, and it was a great thing to do because I particularly love the very last movie I think that is just a brilliant film, the second part of Deathly Hallows.

Hes not wrong. But it wouldve still been incredible to see Columbus return, along with the more whimsical tone and practical effects of the first two films.

I find myself bored by most of these new characters and their stories.”

THE FIRST HARRY POTTER

Want to watch the Harry Potter movies in order in 2021? The Harry Potter films have remained firm favorites since the final movie was released back in 2011 that’s because JK Rowling’s books about the boy wizard are evergreen reading for kids, and that the iconography has become a part of the wider pop culture landscape, from theme parks to video games.;

The Harry Potter movies, meanwhile, remain a mostly faithful and enjoyable way to ingest the story of the series. While they arguably get a little too dark later on, reflected in changes in visual style to remove some of the charm from its setting, the first three in particular form a great arc. While movies one and two are like Spielberg-style kids’ films, the third is moodier but more dramatically satisfying.;

As a collective, they make for a great binge-watching experience. But how do you watch the Harry Potter movies in order, both chronologically and in the way they were originally released? Below, we’ve got you covered, and we’ll also explain where you can stream the Harry Potter films are the time of writing.;

Five years after the “Harry Potter” series came to an end, the Potterverse reared its delightful head and gave us the spin-off series “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

Audiences weren’t quite sure what to make of this film. Some fans called it “a fanciful stroll through a dreamlike world,” but others thought long-time Potter fans would be “underwhelmed by this extension of the wizarding world.”

“It’s not without fun elements, but there’s an almost total lack of compelling characters,” wrote audience reviewer Alec B.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Five years after the end of the Harry Potter franchise, the world came roaring back to the big screen. This time, it wasn’t based on books of any kind but was instead a story J.K. Rowling created for the big screen. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them told the story of Newt Scamander, whose books about fantastic beasts Harry studied in school.

The Letters From No One

Harry Potter Movie Reaction First Time! Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001)
  • Dudley appears to know about Hogwarts, as he stares worriedly at Harry like his parents do. In the books, Dudley does not know about magic when Harry gets his letter.
  • The scene when Harry gets Dudley’s second bedroom is omitted. He does get the room in the second film, with the latter film implying that the Dursleys supplied Harry with the room after the First Year.
  • The scene where Harry and the Dursleys go to a random hotel to get away from the letters was omitted from the film, so instead they went straight to the hut.
  • Because of this, Dudley’s line of “Daddy’s gone mad, hasn’t he?!” was moved to immediately after Uncle Vernon declares that they are going to move far enough away to ensure that the owls can’t find them. In the book, Dudley says this line only after Vernon pauses driving long enough to do a glance around to see if any owls are following them on a bridge.
  • The scene with Harry and the Dursleys using the rowboat of the toothless old man to get to the hut is omitted; Therefore, the old man is also omitted from the film, but he appears in concept artwork only.

    Design And Special Effects

    Judianna Makovsky served as the costume designer. She re-designed the Quidditch robes, having initially planned to use those shown on the cover of the American book, but deemed them “a mess.” Instead, she dressed the Quidditch players in “preppie sweaters, 19th-century fencing breeches and arm guards.” Production designer Stuart Craig built the sets at Leavesden Studios, including Hogwarts Great Hall, basing it on many English cathedrals. Although originally asked to use an existing old street to film the Diagon Alley scenes, Craig decided to build his own set, comprising Tudor, Georgian and Queen Anne architecture.

    Columbus originally planned to use both animatronics and CGI animation to create the magical creatures, including Fluffy. Nick Dudman, who worked on Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, was given the task of creating the needed prosthetics, with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop providing creature effects. John Coppinger stated that the magical creatures that needed to be created had to be designed multiple times. The film features nearly 600 special effects shots, involving numerous companies. Industrial Light & Magic created Lord Voldemort‘s face on the back of Quirrell, Rhythm & Hues animated Norbert ; and Sony Pictures Imageworks produced the Quidditch scenes.
