Draco Malfoy Actor Tom Felton Made A Documentary About Harry Potter Fans

Draco Malfoy, Hermione Granger – Love Story

Feltons proximity to Harry Potter fandom gave him a unique perspective when he set out to make a;documentary about Harry Potter fans.

Were not just talking about the fact that he was in the Harry Potter films, although that does help to an extent. His 2015 BBC documentary looks into the lives of the fans who wait in line to meet him and other actors at conventions, and how the books and films have affected them, which opened his eyes to their experiences along the way.

It was a massive insight for me, going behind the ropes and seeing what people actually do to stand behind a railing at an event, Felton told JustJared in 2015. You dont really think about the three hours it took them to stand there and get the best spot.

Although some initially feared that Feltons documentary would misunderstand or mock its subjects , it was well-received by critics, helped in part by Feltons willingness to look deeper.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

During Hagrid’s debut as Care of Magical Creatures instructor in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the hippogriff, Buckbeak, attacks Draco after he fails to observe proper protocol while approaching it and insults it. He exaggerates the extent of his injury, giving Slytherin a chance to postpone their Quidditch match against Gryffindor until later in the year and as an attempt to have Hagrid fired. Hermione punches Draco when he mocks Hagrid for crying over Buckbeak’s death sentence. Draco, who implies that he is aware of how Sirius Black was supposedly involved in the deaths of Harry’s parents, also taunts Harry about the impending threat of Black: “If it was me, I’d want revenge. I’d hunt him down myself.”

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

The Malfoys remain reluctant followers of Voldemort, who now uses their home as his headquarters; Draco passes out after witnessing Voldemort murder Muggle Studies professor Charity Burbage. Harry experiences occasional and disturbing visions of Draco being forced into performing Voldemort’s bidding and feels “sickened… by the use to which Draco was now being put by Voldemort.” When Harry, Ron, and Hermione are captured and taken to Malfoy Manor, Draco is asked to identify them, and though they are clearly recognisable, he only ambiguously replies “It might be.” During the successful escape from Malfoy Manor headed by Dobby, Harry overpowers Draco and captures his wand.

When Harry, Ron, and Hermione seek Ravenclaw’s diadem in the Room of Requirement, Draco, along with Crabbe and Goyle , attempts to capture Harry alive. However, Crabbe defies Draco’s orders and attempts to kill the trio by casting the deadly Fiendfyre; unable to control the spell, he dies in the blaze while the trio rescue Draco and Goyle . Draco, despite his often condescending and belittling attitude toward Crabbe and Goyle , grieves for his lost friend. During the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco is seen pleading with a Death Eater who seems intent on killing him. He is once again saved by Harry and Ron, the latter of whom punches Draco in the face under the invisibility cloak for attempting to appease the Death Eater.

A Portuguese Notebook Reportedly Revealed Dracos Middle Name

Many middle names in the Wizarding World follow a pattern. For some, it may be their mother or fathers name . For others, it may come from a beloved or respected relative or friend. With Draco, its the former.

The Portuguese publishing house Editorial Presença released a notebook to accompany the release of Half-Blood Prince, and one page revealed Dracos middle name. Like Harry, that names takes its cue from his fathermaking his full name Draco Lucius Malfoy.

Just try not to laugh when he introduces himself.

Wealthy Enough To Not Work

Kenzie Nimmo on Twitter: "Apparently I married Draco ...

There are lots of things about being a Malfoy that aren’t easy, but one perk is definitely the wealth. The Malfoy family was independently wealthy enough that Draco didn’t have to work as an adult. Draco was able to live comfortably and support his wife Astoria and son Scorpius without needing to take on a job. He spent his time taking care of his wife and son, and indulging in hobbies like studying alchemical manuscripts.

While Draco definitely became a better person, he still benefited greatly from the privilege he’d known as a child and as a young man. This is just as fitting a post-Hogwarts path for him as it is for Hermione to have become Minister for Magic and Neville Longbottom to become a professor of Herbology.

Magical Abilities And Skills

Draco was a talented wizard from a young age and possessed several impressive magical abilities. His wand was made of hawthorn, which one should only ever consider placing in the hands of a witch or wizard of proven talent. Following his training from his aunt Bellatrix Lestrange, Draco grew to be an accomplished wizard for his age.

Harry admits Draco’s talent in flying
  • Flying: He was quite a fine Quidditch player and broomstick flyer. He started flying at a younger age showing his skills in his first year. He made the team as a seeker in his second year, which was a very difficult position to acquire. Although his entrance into the team is enhanced due to his father bribing the team with the new Nimbus 2001broomsticks, he also had sufficient talent, although Harry still surpassed him in pure skill despite Draco’s alleged experience and superior broomstick in their first game against each other. When Draco refused to play during his sixth year, his team suffered greatly due to the fact that his replacement did a poorer job, suggesting that no Slytherin during his time was more skilful than him.

He Gets Punched By Ron

Harry, Ron, and Hermione save the lives of Draco and Goyle after theyre all nearly burned to death inside the Room of Requirement. This comes close to happening because of Crabbe casting a spell he cant control, one that gets out of control and ends up costing himself his own life as a result.

Afterwards, Draco is seen begging a Death Eater to let him join their cause. Ron, seeing this, then punches him in the face and labels him a two-faced b******. This would have been fun and satisfying to see, but Warner Bros chose to omit it from the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The colorful use of language may potentially be why

Was Luna Lovegood Autistic

But J.K. Rowling has never confirmed that is what she intended. Its possible she accidentally wrote an autistic character. Many authors base their characters on people theyve met. Right now it is believed 1 in 45 people are autistic, so its possible Rowling met an autistic person that became who Luna was based on.

Draco admits the shallowness of his “friendship” with Crabbe and Goyle

Draco Malfoy and his cohorts

Dracos two constant companions throughout his Hogwarts years were Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. Crabbe and Goyle were often involved in Draco’s confrontations with Harry Potter and his friends. Though Draco often made it clear that he considered both of them rather stupid a legitimate claim and treated them more like lackeys than friends, he showed genuine concern for them and the rest of his gang on a few occasions; when Goyle was bitten by Scabbers the Rat, Draco waited for Goyle before leaving, and he also showed concern for Goyle when he was hit by Harry’s Curse, when Dumbledore expressed his disgust with Draco for allowing Fenrir Greyback “into the school where his friends live,” Draco denied knowing he would be there, clearly disturbed by the sadistic werewolf‘s unexpected presence. Draco’s abrupt departure from his criminal activities left Crabbe and Goyle looking oddly lonely to Harry, as Harry was used to seeing Draco in between the two hulking boys, bossing them around.

Standing Up To His Parents

Growing up, Draco was eager to please his parents. Draco’s attitude — such as his general disdain for the Weasleys and Muggles — and his actions like trying to take the life of Albus Dumbledore — were constantly informed by his desire to impress Lucius and Narcissa and be the person they wanted him to be. That’s why it’s such a big deal that Draco eventually stood up to his parents. Despite Astoria being a Greengrass — a family that belonged to the Sacred Twenty-Eight — Lucius and Narcissa didn’t approve of Astoria because of her more tolerant view of Muggles.

Draco knew he loved Astoria and that she was a good fit for him, so he stood up to his parents and married her anyway.

Scorpius Malfoy tells Albus Potter in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child his mother claimed that what Draco did “was one of the most courageous things shed ever seen.”

Harry Potter: 20 Things Draco Malfoy Did Between The Deathly Hallows And The Cursed Child

Like Harry, Ron, and Hermione, Draco kept himself busy and got up to a lot of things in the years after leaving Hogwarts.

The beauty of Harry Potter is that many of the best characters aren’t necessarily the heroic ones. Take Draco Malfoy, an individual who started out as little more than a bully, but ultimately became one of the most complex and well-developed characters in the whole series. What J.K. Rowling achieved with Draco in the books;was adapted well on the big screen with Tom Felton’s spot-on performance.

In particular, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows offered a closer look at Draco that did the unthinkable. They provided insight into the insecurities and vulnerability behind his snarky, sometimes cruel facade. He’s no saint with a heart of gold and many of his actions and prejudices remain inexcusable. Yet, there was also a lot more to the character than many fans realized, a depth and inner struggle — particularly explored in Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows;— that explained why he was that way.

Like Harry, Ron, and Hermione, Draco kept himself busy and got up to quite a few things in the years after Hogwarts.;While many of Draco’s core traits remained in adulthood, he also changed in many ways and overall became a better person. By the time fans caught up with Draco in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, he was in many senses a changed man.

Son Looks Just Like Him

The Malfoys must have strong genes, since Scorpius looks identical to Draco. The Malfoys sort of work like the Weasleys I guess? The Malfoys all have to have blonde hair, get in Slytherin and;are rich, while the Weasleys have to all have red hair, get in Griffindor and;are poor.

Blood sort of carries a destiny when it comes to hair and Hogwarts houses doesnt it? I know Albus gets into Slytherin, BUT Harry would have gotten there anyway if he didnt beg the hat for another option . Albus is also noted to look like his father, Harry Potter.

Wizard blood has some strong genes!

The name Scorpius is also a resemblance to his father. The Malfoys at a certain point began to name their children based on constellations. We heard a lot of fans were not happy with Scorpius name. Well admit, it probably could have been better. Im sure Rowling couldve used Scorpion in another language or butchered it to be less like the constellation.

He Couldn’t Befriend Harry

Pin on You

With all, that’s happened since it’s easy to forget that Draco didn’t always hate Harry. In fact, he wanted to be his friend when they first met at Hogwarts.

Unfortunately, Draco acted out his worst tendencies;and he sneered at Ron which made Harry reject him. A shame since these two could have actually been good friends if only Draco had considered his actions more closely.

Getting His Wand Back

When Draco used his hawthorn wand to disarm Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Draco became master of the Elder Wand. This meant that when Harry “won” Draco’s hawthorn wand from him in Deathly Hallows, Harry became master of the Elder Wand.

This led to Harry using the hawthorn wand to defeat Voldemort.;Fans know what became of the Elder Wand and that Harry used it to repair his wand with the phoenix feather core, but they didn’t know what happened to the hawthorn wand that once belonged to Draco. A that J.K. Rowling used to promote Harry Potter and the Cursed Child showed that Draco’s wand in the play is made of hawthorn. This indicates that Draco has his old wand again. Since Harry has his old wand back, he has no need for the hawthorn one anymore, meaning he gave it back to Draco.

Adding Books To The Malfoy Manor Library

As Scorpius had a reclusive childhood, living in Malfoy Manor without the opportunity to interact with other children his age, he spent a lot of time reading books. While it doesn’t sound like he was able to indulge in anything as exciting as The Monster Book of Monsters, he did say he read books that helped him learn about the Wizarding world, the Second Wizarding War, and Harry Potter.

It stands to reason that Draco added many of these books to the Malfoy Manor library. Books about the Second Wizarding War didn’t exist when Draco grew up there as the war hadn’t started yet or was in progress. Many of these books inevitably highlight the atrocities committed by Voldemort and the Death Eaters in a deservedly negative light, something Lucius and Narcissa wouldn’t have had in their home. They also wouldn’t have had books about Harry Potter, their master’s greatest enemy. If Scorpius was going to have a largely isolated childhood,;at least Draco added books to the Malfoy Manor library that could educate his son about the outside world before he went off to Hogwarts.

He Made Harry Get A Quidditch Ban

Draco/Hermione Emma/Tom

The train journey home from Hogwarts isnt the only time where Draco attempts to taunt Harry. He does it again during the Order of the Phoenix book, mocking him for the death of his parents and also taking aim at the Weasley twins following Slytherins defeat to Gryffindor in their Quidditch showdown.

Harry, Fred and George all respond violently – and receive bans from Quidditch as a result. Dolores Umbridge takes great pleasure in dealing them the blow, defending Malfoy despite the fact hed provoked them. Harry is banned until the end of the year and becomes Gryffindor Quidditch captain in the summer, replacing Angelina Johnson in the role.

Did Hermiones Parents Ever Remember Her

Several years later, however, Hermione was forced to alter her parents memories and give them new identities as Wendell and Monica Wilkins, to protect them from the Death Eaters. After the Second Wizarding War ended, Hermione found Mrs Granger and her husband in Australia and returned their memories.

The Real Reason Draco Malfoy Disliked Harry So Much

Out of all the original characters from the Harry Potter series who appeared in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Draco is the one with the most growth.

Sure, his hatred of Harry ebbed over the years. But it wasnt like they were going to grab coffee and catch up, and their sons friendship certainly complicated things. Add in a complex time travel plot, a mysterious Time Turner, and two fathers whose sons are in danger, and youll have Draco working alongside Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny.

While Draco finally got the redemption fans had hoped for, he was finally able to voice something thataccording to Rowlinghad been part of the reason he treated the trio so horribly over the years: He was envious of what they had.

Draco was jealous in a superficial way: Harry was more popular and admired than him without trying, and he excelled at Quidditch. But Dracos envy extended to the relationship Harry had with Ron and Hermione. Draco mightve started out with bodyguards/henchmen in Crabbe and Goyle, but he wanted something more.

Two lunks who wouldnt know one end of a broomstick from another, Draco told Harry in Cursed Child. Youthe three of youyou shone, you know? You liked each other. You had fun. I envied you those friendships more than anything else.

If fighting Voldemorts illegitimate daughter through time didnt bond them, Draco and Harry;mightveat the very leastbetter understood one another.
