Why Is Harry Potter Not On Peacock

Don't Miss

How To Watch Every Harry Potter Movie

Why is Harry Potter not on HBO Max?

Published By Dennis Restauro

The eight Harry Potter movies are in high demand, and its typically a heated battle to see which streaming service will own the rights to stream these films. In 2020 NBC landed the streaming rights for all 8 films, and they are typically available to watch on NBCs streaming service, Peacock. However, as of September 1, 2021, all 8 Harry Potter movies are available on HBO Max. It seems NBC leased out the films to HBO Max, as every one of the Harry Potter films is currently streaming on the HBO Max service and nowhere else.

When the movies arent leased out to HBO, NBC will occasionally move the films to the NBC-owned TV Networks Syfy and USA Network. In this case, there will typically be a Harry Potter Promotion available through the NBC streaming app if you have a streaming service that carries the SyFy channel. During that time, the films may drop from Peacock. Since these movies hop from service to service more often than most, this article explains where to look when you want to stream any of the Harry Potter movies.

  • They are available to stream on HBO Max
  • When no on HBO, NBC typically has them available on Peacock Premium.
  • As a last resort, you can and stream them whenever you want.

All Aboard The Hogwarts Express

Harry Potter is an endlessly fascinating hit franchise. The ever-expanding wizarding world has inspired web hubs, theme parks, and, probably most importantly, movies, even as author J.K. Rowling has become an incredibly problematic figure. When Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone got the big-screen treatment in 2001 with director Chris Columbus, writer Steve Kloves, and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, the story of the boy with the lightning-bolt scar got a second, more potent life by making all of the book’s fantastical magic, hidden worlds, and incredible creatures “real.” Sorcerer’s Stone grossed almost $1 billion worldwide and created a hunger for more;Potter experiences, justifying successful adaptations , spinoff prequels about fantastic beasts, and potentially an original TV series.

Maybe years ago, you bought coveted DVD collections, but those might be lost somewhere at your parents’ house. In the age of streaming, you’d probably much rather watch the movies online somewhere when you need a fix. Here’s where you can currently satisfy your Potter craving.

The Harry Potter Movies Are No Longer Streaming On Any Service

Bad news for all Harry Potter-loving;cord-cutters. The;Harry Potter;movies are currently not available on any streaming service. Thats right, all eight of them. The franchise was most recently viewable on the NBCUniversal streamer Peacock, but has since left the platform. The only place left to watch the;Harry Potter;series is cable television.

When HBO Max launched in May, they boasted streaming rights to the eight;Harry Potter;titles. That lasted until August, and then poof! they disappeared again. They reappeared on Peacock beginning October 1, only to stay for a month before;leaving once more.

So why do the;Harry Potter;movies keep magically;popping up on different streamers, only to pull on the invisibility cloak during the holiday season? As it turns out, NBCUniversal;controls the broadcast and cable rights to the series until 2025. Due to the contracts details, the titles are obligated to run alongside the;Fantastic Beasts;movies on the SyFy and USA Networks. This means they must temporarily leave Peacock, but will most likely return for periods of time in 2021.

If you’re someone who subscribes to both cable and streaming channels, this wont affect you too much. The only difference is that you’ll have to catch;the;Harry Potter;movies at specific times instead of on demand. If you’ve distanced yourself from cable for good, you might want to invest in a physical copy of the movies, just in case. At least your Blu-rays can’t vanish without warning.

Harry Potter Has Switched Streaming Services Again

All 8 Harry Potter films will stream free on Peacock

It’s currently September 1st, and that means the Harry Potter streaming rights have once again changed services. The Warner Bros. film series has gone back and forth between HBO Max and Peacock for some time, streaming exclusively on one of the services while the other is left without. When the calendar changed to September, the Harry Potter films made yet another move, heading back to HBO Max where they are currently available.

Despite being the property of Warner Bros., the Harry Potter films have spent quite a lot of time this year over on Peacock. There was a one-month period over the summer when they were available on HBO Max, but the Warner-owned service has largely been without one of its biggest franchises in 2021.

Last time the Harry Potter movies were on HBO Max, they only stuck around for one month before heading back to Peacock. This time, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case. HBO Max announced ahead of time that the movies would only be available for the month, but there is no such warning for September’s new additions, and the films aren’t on the “last chance” list for the month. So at the very least, Harry Potter will be on HBO Max through October, but it could obviously be even longer than that.

Some other great news for HBO Max subscribers is that the eight Harry Potter movies are far from the only titles that the service added on Wednesday morning. You can check out the full list of new additions below.

However, you will need to be a Peacock Premium subscriber to watch all 8 films.

Why Harry Potter Took Place in the 90’s Not the 2000’s (HP Explained)

NBCUniversal has removed all eight Harry Potter movies from its streaming service Peacock as they head to the company’s cable networks.

The fantasy film franchise Harry Potter;has been removed from its streaming home on NBCUniversals Peacock, meaning it is no longer available on any streaming service. The films were previously available to stream on HBO Max earlier this year, though they have since left the service. Because of the franchises huge fan base, any platform with exclusive streaming rights to Harry Potter has a huge opportunity to attract new viewers and stand out from the crowd.

At first glance, NBCUniversals decision to remove Harry Potter from Peacock could appear to be a response to the recent controversy surrounding the series author J.K. Rowling. Rowling has recently faced criticism on social media for expressing transphobic views. Many fans have expressed their disappointment with Rowling, even going so far as to boycott future Harry Potter projects. However, Harry Potters departure from Peacock appears to have nothing to do with Rowling and everything to do with;contractual obligations.

Why Harry Destroyed The Elder Wand

Having finally defeated Voldemort and having established that he, in fact, is the master of the Elder Wand, Harry makes the choice to destroy it. In some ways, this seems logical, since its existence would always be an inducement to others to try to take it from him.

However, wouldnt it have made just as much sense to simply keep it somewhere safe? After all, one never knows when a powerful threat is going to arise and necessitate the use of a powerful wand, and surely Voldemort isnt the only evil genius wizard lurking out there.

Does The Basilisk Only Kill Muggle Borns

We know that the Basilisk is controlled by the Heir of Slytherin, which in the case of book two was Tom Riddle. We know that the Basilisk can kill anyone, not just Muggle Borns when you look in to its eyes directly so I doubt the basilisk, as such, has some intrinsic quality that means it can only targe Muggle Borns.

Why Mrs Weasleys Killing Of Bellatrix Is So Overdone

Likewise, the killing of Bellatrix Lestrange is another of those moments that seems to be just a bit too much. In the book, its a truly great scene, as Molly leaps to the defense of her daughter and slays the witch who has been the cause of so much heartache.

In the film version, she inexplicably freezes Bellatrix in some kind of spell and then breaks her apart. Its just…a strange way to show this scene, and no doubt left many fans scratching their heads in confusion.
