Universal Studios Plans To Expand The Wizarding World In Their New Epic Universe Park

It was first reported by Orlando Sentinel, last October, that Universal Studios planned to open a new theme park the first addition to Orlando in 20 years. Named Epic Universe, it was initially planned to open in 2023. There were few details available when it was first announced, but Universal confirmed this past January that Super Nintendo World would be a part of this new park.

Orlando Weekly analyzed the official Epic Universe concept art, and it seems there will likely be four different areas of the park, suspected to be Super Nintendo World, a section devoted to How to Train Your Dragon, one for Universal Classic Monsters, and the fourth to be centered around Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the new film series set in the Harry Potter universe. According to theories, the area will be themed around Paris, France, in the 1920s, a setting featured in the second film of the series.

Of course, the spread of COVID-19 put a real damper on all these plans, and now it’s unclear what Universal hopes to do with their Epic Universe. The construction is on hold indefinitely, and they will probably have to cut things, and shift their plans around. But given how successful the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been for them, Universal is likely to make the upcoming Fantastic Beasts expansion a high priority.

Other Forms Of Communication

Apart from the fake Galleons enchanted by Hermione for Dumbledore’s Army, there are a few other methods of closed-channel communications used in the books and films. Subjects painted into wizarding portraits are frequently used to carry messages between locations where their portraits hang. Phineas Nigellus is used to send messages between Dumbledore’s office and his other portrait in Grimmauld Place. Hermione takes Phineas from Grimmauld Place during and uses Phineas to obtain information about events at Hogwarts. Dumbledore also uses two other former headmasters in a similar fashion when Arthur Weasley is attacked by in the Ministry of Magic. A portrait is also seen carrying messages between the Minister for Magic and the Muggle Prime Minister in the opening of .

Another form of closed communication used in the books and films is a set of mirrors that belonged to Sirius Black. Sirius gives Harry one mirror in , with a note explaining to Harry that Sirius and James Potter used to use the mirrors to talk to each other when they were put in separate detentions. In , Harry uses a shard of his broken mirror to call for help from the Malfoy’s cellar, and later finds out that Aberforth Dumbledore had been watching over Harry using Sirius’ mirror, which he obtained from Mundungus Fletcher.

More Magic In The Magic Kingdom

Theme park historian Jim Hill sums up what Disney would have created:

This was tiny. Itty bitty. There were two attractions. Basically, it was going to be Buzz Lightyear. You were going to be in an Omnimover attraction with a wand instead of a gun, and you were moving through basically a Dark Arts teaching class. The other aspect was going to be a Care of Magical Creatures Petting Zoo.

Disney wanted to put this mini Harry Potter land toward the back of Magic Kingdoms Fantasyland. According to Yesterworld, the land would have only had a cutout of Hogwarts Castle posted to the entrance of the main attraction and an outdoor quick service cart themed to the Leaky Cauldron pub. Like Jim Hill said, the land would have only contained two attractions. The first would have been a continuously moving attraction in which guests pointed wands at targets and racked up points, a common style of ride that can be seen in theme parks around the world. The second attraction would have been a meet-and-greet or possibly a short show involving an animatronic Hippogriff, a concept similar to and possibly ripped off of Islands of Adventures Triceratops Encounter.

What If I Cant Get Early Park Admission

Guests without Early Park Admission can still get some advantage over everyone else, if theyre willing to get to the front gates just as early. If early admission is at Universal Studios Florida, team members will usually though not always start processing visitors through the turnstiles during the EPA period and allow them to queue in the front of the park, typically by Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. This enables two time-saving strategies: if Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is operational that morning, guests can actually ride it right away, before the park officially opens and then, afterwards, they can start lining up for Rip Ride Rockit, Shrek 4D, or Transformers: The Ride 3D. Considering how long Minion Mayhems line can grow as the day goes on, this can really save you a good chunk of time.

New health measures in place during the Universal Studios Hollywood reopening include :

• The procedure for getting to the Lower Lot for wheelchair users is generally the same with reduced capacity.

Is There A Trailer For Hogwarts Legacy

Yes! The game was finally revealed with a cinematic trailer during September 2020 PlayStation 5 Showcase. You can check it out for yourself below.

From the trailer, we can see that despite taking place in the late 1800s, many Hogwarts traditions are still present. For example, owls still seem to play a large role at Hogwarts. As do the haunted decor items.

We can also see Hippogriffs in the trailer, as the narrator mentions the world outside Hogwarts. Perhaps you can travel the land using flying creatures like Hippogriffs?

We also get a look at a masked person in a few shots. Like all masked people, they appear rather fearsome. Perhaps this person is the game’s villain?

When Is The Hogwarts Legacy Release Date

While this new Harry Potter game was originally leaked in 2018, we still don’t have an exact date for when the game will come out. WB initially claimed Hogwarts Legacy would release in 2021. A report published on June 29, 2020, Bloombergreport gave a more specific window of late 2021.

In January 2021, WB games pushed the release date back to 2022. Considering that the game was originally intended to launch in late 2021, it’s likely that they’re internally targeting an early 2022 date. If WB releases Hogwarts Legacy before April 2022, it would still be in the same fiscal year as originally intended, minimizing the effect on their bottom line.

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

Filming for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire began on Tuesday 4th May 2004.

A giant water tank was built at the Studios to film the underwater scenes for the Triwizard Tournament. It is the largest underwater filming tank in Europe which is capable of holding over two million litres of water.

During filming, Daniel Radcliffe spent so much time under water in the dive tank he gained his PADI diving certificate. A lot of time was spent experimenting with how to make him look as if he had webbed hands. This look was eventually created using very fine ladies tights, which Daniel wore over his hands and up his arms!

John Richardsons Special Effects Team built a fully operational, fire-breathing Hungarian Horntail dragon armed with a 35ft flame thrower for this film. Eventually, the filmmakers decided that the dragons would be created by the Visual Effects Team, but the dragon went on to take pride of place at the London premiere in Leicester Square.

Where Is Harry Potter World Studios

Though the Warner Bros. Studio is advertised as being in London, it is actually pretty far outside of the city , about 40 min by car!

Luckily, it is very easy to get there by either car, train, or a private tour bus.

Most visitors to London opt to take a tour bus to Harry Potter World from London.

This is an easy option for those who are apprehensive about using public transportation or driving in the city.

TIP: The Warner Bros. Studio is about halfway between Luton Airport and London, making it a great activity for those who have a long layover at Luton but who don’t want to venture all the way into the city.

The studio is located between 20-30 miles from London, depending on the route and departure time.

There are two Butterbeer carts in Wizarding World of Harry Potter, one of which is located near the entrance of Hogsmeade. The ones they sell at the theme park are non-alcoholic drinks that come in hot and cold. It tasted like soda with caramel whipped cream. You can opt to buy it in a regular plastic cup, or in a collectible mug that you can take home with you!
