Why Does Voldemort Hate Harry Potter

Don't Miss

His Final Form Is Worse In The Books

I Created a Scene to Make Voldemort as Hate-able as Umbridge. It Worked.

In the film adaptations, the final body that Voldemort ends up in after returning to full power is pretty accurate to the one described in the source material. Both share the same white skin, reddish eyes, dark robes, hairless-ness and — the most distinctive feature — two, snake-like slits where a normal human nose should be. It’s definitely;not;the look of the hero of the story.

There are some key omissions, however, that would have made his live-action portrayal even more unsettling. His pupils were dark red and looked feline; his body was “skeletally thin;” he had no lips; his fingers were freakishly long and spidery, with pointed, blue fingernails. Lastly, his voice was described as being high-pitched and sometimes “sibilant” — like a snake’s.

Close With: Narcissa Malfoy

Although Lucius Malfoy fell from Voldemort’s good graces, Voldemort always had an appreciation for Narcissa. This is because Narcissa never;had an opportunity to disappoint;him. It was easier for her as she wasn’t an official Death Eater like her husband or her sister, Bellatrix. Narcissa also wasn’t “slippery” like her husband. She never attempted to present herself as;greater than she was.

Narcissa had the same bigoted ideology as the Dark Lord and was very accommodating of him. After Voldemort’s revival, she hosted him at Malfoy Manor and made him feel very comfortable. However, Voldemort misjudged Narcissa;as he took her at her word when she helped;Harry fake his demise at the end of The Deathly Hallows.

We’ve All Been Saying His Name Wrong

According to a quote from J.K Rowling from 1999, we’ve all been mispronouncing Voldemort’s name for years. At a book signing in the Whale of Tale Children’s Bookshoppe in Irvine, California, the author was asked by a young fan: “Is it Voldemort? Or Voldemor?” The author told them that she preferred “Voldemor,” but admitted she was the only one who did.

Given how long ago this was, it was presumed to be dead canon for years. However, in 2015 the author reaffirmed her preference for the dropping of the “T” on . Though it’ll never catch on at this point, Rowling’s version does fall in line with the French interpretation of his name: “Flight/theft of death,” a language she’s fluent in.

The Truth About Why People Dont Say His Name

Earlier on, I mentioned that people never pronounced Lord Voldemorts name because they were too afraid. Thats correct in the first few books, but later on in the series, as he gains power, Voldemort ultimately places a taboo on his own name, meaning anyone who said it out loud could be tracked by his followers. This was significant, as the witches and wizards who were unafraid to say Voldemort were mostly people who opposed him. Others were too scared, and his loyal supporters usually reverently referred to him as the Dark Lord. There is a real motivation behind the fear.

What Powers Did Harry Have That Voldemort Didnt

I Hate It When Voldemort Uses My Shampoo by soulfabb ...

Voldemort tried to kill Harry when he was just an infant. He should have killed him, but when Lily sacrificed herself to protect her son, Voldemorts curse rebounded and wounded him. It only left a small mark on Harry.

It is often said in the movies that it was the power of love. Now, having this world filled with power and magic and being saved by the mothers love is beautiful but kind of disappointing as an explanation. Perhaps the curse never hit Harry right due to Lilys protection, a charm, or Voldemorts wand. There are many theories.

It is also mentioned it was the kind of power Voldemort didnt expect it was old magic. Lilys sacrifice resided in Harrys blood ever since she has protected him. The killing curse rebounded and destroyed Voldemorts body. He had also had a part of his soul latch onto Harry the only living thing it found, and so another Horcrux was created. But this one was not planned.

Harrys parents were Aurors, they wanted to fight Voldemort and found themselves with a son in the middle of a war. So Lily Potter needed to take action and protect her family. This protection stayed with him which was seen after the last battle.

In Deathly Hallows, when Harry goes into the forest to fight Voldemort to sacrifice himself, he still has a part of Voldemorts soul within him without even knowing. But the protection from his mother is still there.;

Dolores Umbridge Betrayed Her Own Family

J.K. Rowling, who penned the original Harry Potter book;series, was pretty clear about why she created the character of Umbridge in the first place: she didn’t want the concept of “evil” to be entirely black and white. She expresses this through Sirius Black , who, during Harry’s fifth year, tells his godson that the world isn’t simply divided into totally good people and nefarious Death Eaters making it clear that bad people can also work for seemingly virtuous causes like the Ministry of Magic.

In an essay on Wizarding World, Rowling relays how Umbridge turned on her own family in order to succeed within the Department of Magical Law Enforcement;;she hated her father because of his lack of ambition within the Ministry and ultimately got him fired, and lied about her Muggle mother to assume pure-blood status. As Rowling tells it, anybody who asked about Umbridge’s family would end up experiencing some kind of accident or misfortune, showing the lengths Umbridge would go to in order to cover up her real lineage or the fact that her father was a Ministry janitor.

Why Did Voldemort Want To Kill The Potters In The First Place

This may well be because Lily and James were some of Dumbledore’s most powerful and avid supporters as well as integral members of the Order of the Phoenix. So the biggest threat to V-Voldemort and his Order.

But why go through all the motions of murdering an entire family, even though they are cooped up in a hidden house and posing no immediate danger?

References preferred. But justified conjecture is also welcome.

Edit:I wrote this just after reading that Neville broke the prophecy. So I thought it might never be answered, which is why I asked the question.I now know the full reason.

    • 1I just wanted to point out the irony: the parents of Neville were Aurors and had defied Voldemort thrice as well. Now guess at the end of which month Neville was born: July. By going after Harry, Voldemort fulfilled the Prophecy with Harry as adversary, but Neville would have been in Harry’s place had Voldemort tried to kill Neville.Feb 21 ’14 at 12:27

    • One word The Prophecy

    There was this prophecy:

Sybill Trelawney’s first prophecy, sometimes simply known as The Prophecy, refers to the prophecy made by Sybill Trelawney to Albus Dumbledore at the Hog’s Head Pub in 1980. It referred to a boy born at the end of July, who has the power to defeat Lord Voldemort and Lord Voldemort himself.

    Here is the exact prophecy:

    He Used To Be Handsome

As we saw in;The Chamber of Secrets, Voldemort wasn’t always the pale-skinned, nose-less monster he became. Tom Riddle was not only a normal-looking human boy, but he was pretty easy on the eyes, too. Harry’s glimpse of him at an even younger age via the Pensieve revealed him to be: “tall for eleven years old, dark-haired and pale.”

Luckily for Tom, he didn’t inherit any of his maternal family’s inbred deformities, taking after his attractive Muggle father instead. Tom was well aware of his physical charms, using his natural charisma to get what he wanted out of people until his continued dabbling in the Dark Arts — including splitting his soul — began to erode it all away.

    Dont Deserve: Fleur Delacour

    Why Voldemort Truly Hated Dumbledore

Fleur Delacour was the least liked of all of the Triwizard Tournament champions, and this is kind of a shame. Seeing as she was the only girl of the group to be picked, its sad that she was written to be the least likable of the four.

However, despite many people around her not liking her, and many fans assuming the worst, she turned out to be more complex than originally thought. She was a devoted person and a talented witch who was a great partner to Bill Weasley and a committed member of the Order of the Phoenix.

To be fair to Harry, Draco wasn’t in the mood to chat and he seemed ready to give back just as hard as he got. But it was still crossing a;line for Harry to use the spell Sectusempra against Draco – especially since he had no idea what the spell could do.

Draco ended up bleeding profusely and it’s safe to assume he could have died if Snape hadn’t intervened in time.

    A Redeeming Trait: He’s Clever

Voldemort is lacking in many arenas, but it can’t be said that he’s lacking in intelligence. Yes, he uses his exceptional cleverness in the worst ways possible, but the fact that he managed to accomplish so much and figure so many things out with almost no one being the wiser is very impressive.

When he was still a child he was sussing things out that even most adult wizards couldn’t grasp.

Just How Powerful Were His Magical Abilities

Why does Voldemort keep stealing people

Evil as he is, theres no question that Voldemort is also one of the most powerful wizards to have ever lived. Hes a master duelist, able to defeat almost anyone who comes against him .

Perhaps most notably, he also has the power of necromancy, i.e. the ability to raise creatures from the dead . This is an ability that seems to be unique to him, making him a very formidable enemy indeed.

    Close With: Antonin Dolohov

Similarly to Bellatrix Lestrange, Antonin Dolohov remained loyal to;Voldemort after his initial downfall. He was one of Voldemort’s longest followers. Dolohov never wavered from his duties toVoldemort and was extremely effective. He was responsible for ending a couple members of the Order of the Phoenix as well as several Muggles. Voldemort was inspired by the fact that this Death Eater didn’t seem to have regrets over the awful things he’d done. The pair weren’t buddies, but Voldemort respected him as much as he could.

Even though Dolohov failed a couple of times in the later part of his life, Voldemort still freed him from Azkaban twice. Clearly, Voldemort thought that Dolohov was an important ally to have.

    What Did The Prophecy Say

    Before Harry was born, Dumbledore was in search of a Divination teacher. Professor Trelawney was just being interviewed when Dumbledore concluded she was not the person for the job. As he got up to leave, she spoke in a different voice:;

;;;;The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

This could have been any child born at that time to parents who already fought Voldemort. But how did he find out about the prophecy? Well, at the time, Severus Snape was still working for Voldemort. He heard the part of the prophecy and went rushing to Voldemort to tell him about the boy.

Neville Longbottom was a boy born on July 30th to parents who were Aurors and, just like Harrys parents, defied him three times directly. Voldemort knew there were two boys who were his possible targets but somehow chose his enemy to be Harry.

Like Voldemort, Harry was a half-blood. Voldemort saw parts of him in Harry that he hated which is one of the reasons he wanted to eradicate half-bloods and create and honor the pure-breeds.

Slytherin has a reputation for being the most evil house in Hogwarts, but their most and least likable students demonstrate how diverse they are.

In the Harry Potter universe, no group of people comes in for as much criticism as House Slytherin. Theres some justification for this, considering the fact that they have produced some of the most notable villains of the wizarding world, including none other than Lord Voldemort himself. Its also not surprising that many of the Slytherins that appear are incredibly unlikable; in fact, theyre often the characters that audiences and readers love to hate.

However, its also worth looking at those Slytherins who are actually a little likable .

However, at the climax of the story, when Riddle rearranges the letters in his name to write “I am Lord Voldemort”, Riddle is revealed as a magical manifestation of the boy who would later grow up to become the Dark Lord. Riddle states he has grown strong on Ginny’s fears and eventually possesses her, using her as a pawn to unlock the Chamber of Secrets, whence a basilisk is set free and petrifies several Hogwarts students. Harry defeats the manifestation of Riddle from the diary and the basilisk. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Albus Dumbledore reveals to Harry that the diary was one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes.

What Happens When Tom Riddle Becomes Voldemort

Tom Riddle was the Dark Lords actual name. He wasnt always the dreadful-looking individual. Tom Riddle was described as a tall, attractive young man with light complexion by J. K. Rowling in the second and sixth books. He also had jet black hair and dark brown eyes.

Tom Riddle used to spend the most of his time dabbling with black magic when he was younger. His main goal was to become immortal. In his quest for immortality, wretched Riddle divides his soul into eight pieces and creates seven Horcruxes on purpose. The Riddle became strong and wicked as he unearthed the deepest and darkest mysteries of magic.

    As a result, he dropped his Muggle name and assumed the title of Lord Voldemort, the ruler of evil magic. The term Lord Voldemort was an anagram of Tom Riddles real name.;
