The first step is to decide how early to arrive at Universal Studios for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter? We always recommend to arrive as early as possible to avoid long lines later on in the day. This is true even if you are spending a few days at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Typically, the Wizarding World Hours are the same as park open hours, meaning, as soon as the gates are open, guests are allowed to enter.
This is why Early Park Admission is so important as it allows you entry into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter up to one hour before regular park guests! Your family can hop on a ride such as Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts and save two to three hours later on in the day.

Don’t think this one is just for kids! If you’re going to go to Ollivander’s to get a wand of your own, be sure to get the interactive version!
Throughout both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, there are interactive shop windows, fountains, and statues where you can wave your wand and bring something to life.
It was so fun to watch faces of both kids AND adults light up when they made something move or made a fountain spring to life with the correct flick of a wand.
I didn’t know about this feature of the parks before arriving the first time , but thought it was genius and a fantastic way to make people feel like they were really part of the magical world.
Once I got a wand of my own, it only made the Harry Potter parks feel more magical. I had so much fun following my map to all the spots where I could cast a spell and cause it to rain or make a feather float. So. Much. FUN.
The Wild Wild Wild West Stunt Show
The Wild Wild Wild West Stunt Show was a live based upon a wide variety of Universal’s . Opening on July 4, 1991, in the section of the park, the show featured several themed actors surviving death defying stunts, shootings and explosions. The show closed on September 1, 2003, and was replaced by which opened on June 3, 2005.A similar show is still shown at former Universal-owned theme park .
Back to the Future: The Ride was a based on and inspired by the that opened on May 2, 1991. The ride story centered on a first-person adventure through time, in pursuit of , the trilogy’s villain. It was closed on March 30, 2007 and replaced on May 15, 2008 by .

Differences From The Book
Columbus repeatedly checked with Rowling to make sure he was getting minor details correct. Kloves described the film as being “really faithful” to the book. The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter California
While the Wizarding World land in California is smaller than its Florida counterpart, it contains many of the same components. Like Orlando, I love that the Harry Potter California experience transforms a normally hot and humid space into a British winter wonderland!
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is still housed within the famed Hogwarts Castle, with the same impressive walk-through queue that showcases everything from the Mirror or Erised and the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom to the sorting hat. The ride, too, is the same. In addition, directly across from the castle, guests can enjoy the family-friendly Flight of the Hippogriff mini coaster. Though its a little higher and a little faster than Orlandos version, it is also rather short.
And while we have the stunning snow-covered rooftops of Hogsmeade and various shops in which to find incredible Potter-related products, our West Coast park lacks a few of the things that shine in Orlando. Without Diagon Alley, the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride or a working Hogwarts Express, some of the magic is lacking in Hollywood.
Then there are the shows. Unlike in Florida, the California developers anticipated the inclusion of the Frog Choir and the Triwizard Spirit Rally so a stage was built between Hogsmeade and the castle. Its also the perfect spot from which to watch the one-of-a-kind projection shows on the castle.

The Screen Test Home Video Adventure
The Screen Test Home Video Adventure was an interactive, upcharge experience which opened in March 1991. Guests were given the opportunity to star in one of two 10-minute films: Your Day at Universal Studios or The Star Trek Adventure. They would dress in costumes before being filmed in front of a . The final video could then be purchased by the guests for $29.95 plus tax. It was closed November 11, 1996, and replaced by The Islands of Adventure Preview Center the following year.

On 25 January 2021, a live action television series was reported to have been in early development at . Though it was noted that the series has “complicated rights issues”, due to a seven-year rights deal with Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution that included U.S. broadcast, cable and streaming rights to the franchise, which ends in April 2025.
The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter Souvenirs
If you want to buy souvenirs, as guests of the Harry Potter amusement park, you should visit all the stores that you know about books:
- Sweetshop Honeydukes and Sugarplum for desserts.
- Zonkos joke shop.
- Owl Post where you can send e-mail.
- Dervishes and the Banges, which is full of robes, Gryffindor scarves, Corvonero shirts, and all kinds of items for sale, as well as fun details like books with cage bites.
However, keep in mind that all these activities can be small and get very crowded. Buy items confiscated from goods at Filchs Emporium in the lower regions of Hogwarts Castle which is a much larger store that sells a variety of items. Some Harry Potter items are also available at the large Port of Entry store near the entrance/exit to Islands of Adventure.

Update: The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter Hogsmeade Reopens Forbidden Journey And Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure Remain Closed
Nearly three hours after the rest of Universals Islands of Adventure opened this morning, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hogsmeade finally opened.
The reason for this mornings closure has not been officially confirmed, but some Team Members said they were being sent home early due to a power outage.
As of 11:50 a.m., Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey remain closed.
The Hogwarts Express, shops, and dining locations are all open. Flight of the Hippogriff is in the process of reopening, and is allowing guests to join the queue.
The land was empty as it slowly reopened.
If the delayed opening was due to a power outage, it will likely take a while before Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Hagrids Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure do reopen.
Team Members outside the closed attractions were directing guests away.
Guests began to fill the land once shops had opened back up.
