What’s The Second Harry Potter Book

Don't Miss

Adapt Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

J.K. Rowling and the second Harry Potter book

The elephant in the room as far as Harry Potter media adaptations go: the so-called eighth story in the Harry Potter saga, which picks up years after the final book and is told not through text, but as a big-budget stage show. The story of Cursed Child is controversial among fans , and having seen the Broadway version, it seems like itd work better on stage rather than as an adapted film. But if youre looking for Potter stories to put on HBO Max, its perhaps the most obvious choice.

WarnerMedia could also take a page out of Disneys book and just produce a filmed version of the stage show preserving the original theatrical nature of the narrative and saving millions on making a full-fledged film version. Chaim Gartenberg, news editor

Aunt Marge’s Big Mistake

  • In the book, at the dinner party, Aunt Marge allows Ripper to drink tea off of a saucer. In the film, she allows him a drink of brandy from her glass.
  • In the book, Aunt Marge stays for a couple of nights before she gets blown up. The film makes it seem she blows up the same day she visits.
  • In the book, Harry sat at the table with Aunt Marge and the Dursleys, but in the film, he is just busy at the kitchen counter serving the Dursleys and Aunt Marge.
  • Also in the book, Marge only floats up to the ceiling, while in the film she uncontrollably floats out of the house, later to be found circling a chimney in Sheffield.

The Last Dance Meets Spinal Tap About A Quidditch Teams Season

There are two things you need to know about me as a human being: I love mockumentaries and I love Quidditch. Imagine if there was a Last Dance documentary that follows the worst Quidditch team in the league as they try to qualify for the championship finals. In a perfect world, the show is written by Taika Waititi, backed by the writing staff on FXs incredible What We do in the Shadows. I want to watch a bunch of fictional blubbering idiots who somehow managed to find their way into the English Premiere League of sports in the Wizarding universe for an entire season.

A Prequel About The Founding Of Hogwarts

Gryffindor. Hufflepuff. Ravenclaw. Slytherin. The four houses of Hogwarts are one of the most famous aspects of the series, but theyre also the names of the four founders of the magical school. As a largely unexplored area of the Wizarding World, a streaming show or movie could take viewers back to the founding of Hogwarts and dispel some of the common myths associated with the houses by showing how the school really came to be. Chapter : The Worst Birthday

Vernon Dursley and Harry Potter

Harry sitting on a bench, unaware of someone in the bushes

Harry Potter has returned to the Dursleys for the summer holiday in mid-1992, and things are very bad for him. Over the summer, the Dursleys have become so fearful of Harry’s new-found magical abilities that they have locked away all of Harry’s magical supplies immediately after his arrival home. They have also banned Harry from saying words such as “magic” in the house, as evident in Uncle Vernon‘s outburst at breakfast. This has become a problem for Harry himself, who begins to worry about what his teachers at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will think if he heads back to them without back homework done, and whether or not he’ll be banned from the Gryffindor House Quidditch team since he has not been able to practise. The only thing the Dursleys let him keep in his room, however, is his pet snowy owl Hedwig, but have put a padded lock on her cage to keep her inside day and night to avoid suspicion from the neighbours. This does not go well for the bird, because every time she has become bored, her screech has rung throughout the house, causing an irritated Vernon to warn Harry that if he cannot control her, she will have to go.

The Tales Of Beedle The Bard

LET’S SUMMARIZE – HARRY POTTER & THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS (Harry Potter Book 2)

The Tales of Beedle the Bard is a collection of five fairy wizarding tales, told by, well, Beedle the Bard! Professor Dumbledore bequeathed these age-old tales to Hermione Granger, and they turned out to be instrumental in helping Harry Potter crack the clues given to him in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Now it’s your chance to read them for yourself. Though the stories in this book all have a magical twist, the themes at their cores still resonate with what we associate with fairy tales: friendship, the everlasting strength of love, and the magic that each one of us possesses.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a fantasy novel written by British author J. K. Rowling and the second novel in the Harry Potter series. The plot follows Harry‘s second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, during which a series of messages on the walls of the school’s corridors warn that the “Chamber of Secrets” has been opened and that the “heir of Slytherin” would kill all pupils who do not come from all-magical families. These threats are found after attacks that leave residents of the school petrified. Throughout the year, Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione investigate the attacks.

Several commentators have noted that personal identity is a strong theme in the book and that it addresses issues of racism through the treatment of non-human, non-magical, and non-living people. Some commentators regard the story’s diary that writes back as a warning against uncritical acceptance of information from sources whose motives and reliability cannot be checked. Institutional authority is portrayed as self-serving and incompetent.

Chapter : The Deathday Party

whats your favorite harry potter book?
Why would anyone want to celebrate the day they died? Sounds dead depressing to me…
Ron, about the Deathday Party

Petrified Mrs Norris

In return for distracting Argus Filch just when he is about to give Harry severe punishment, Harry promises he will come to Nearly Headless Nick‘s Deathday Party on Hallowe’en. He brings Ron and Hermione along as well. While there, they meet Moaning Myrtle. The three of them quickly get sickened by the ghostly party and return to the Great Hall.

Before they get to the Hallowe’en feast, Harry hears the voice and follows it to the second floor, where he finds the bathroom flooded and Mrs Norris, Filch’s cat, hanging from a torch bracket, petrified and coupled with a message on the wall, reading “THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED. ENEMIES OF THE HEIR, BEWARE”. Then, students leaving the Hallowe’en Feast surround them. And Malfoy yells: “Enemies of the Heir, beware! You’ll be next, Mudbloods!”

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban

The third book in the series introduces Sirius Black, a deranged mass murderer whos just escaped from the wizard prison of Azkaban. As a result, swarms of Dementors dark, faceless beings that suck the soul out of their victims and serve as the guards of Azkaban infiltrate Hogwarts to patrol for Black, whos supposedly after Harry next. To make matters worse, our normally steadfast hero has a bad reaction to the Dementors, which cause him to faint on a train and even lose a critical Quidditch match.

Again, though, its not all doom and gloom. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban also features Professor Remus Lupin, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and a school friend of Harrys late father. Lupin and Harry quickly forge a father-son-like relationship themselves, and Lupin teaches Harry the Patronus Charm to protect himself from Dementors.

Meanwhile, Ron and Hermione are squabbling even more than usual over their respective pets, Crookshanks the cat and Scabbers the rat. But what seems like a lighthearted subplot turns out to be a major factor in one of the biggest twists of the series, revealed in the last few chapters and which naturally involves Black and Lupin as well. Oh, and hippogriffs and time traveling, in case that wasnt enough to sell you on it.

Harry Potter And The Sorcerers Stone

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the book that started it all , Harry Potter discovers his true identity in the wee hours of his eleventh birthday: he is a wizard, famous in the magical world for having vanquished the evil Lord Voldemort when he was only a baby. This revelation, delivered by a gruff, hairy giant named Hagrid, sets Harry on a fantastical journey of a lifetime.

He meets bosom buddies Ron and Hermione aboard the Hogwarts Express, and is soon sorted with them into Gryffindor: the house of the intrepid and brave. However, Harry also makes plenty of enemies at Hogwarts, most notably the arrogant Draco Malfoy and the nasty potions master, Snape . And from battling a troll on Halloween to his first exhilarating Quidditch match not to mention the novels climax, in which Harry goes up against Voldemort for the second time in his young life theres never a dull moment in the first year of his new adventure.

Sorcerers Stone also perfectly balances exciting action with touching emotion, as Harry finds a true family in Ron and Hermione after years of misery with the Dursleys. Indeed, the books small, moving moments such as Harry being floored by a gift from Rons mother, or Hermiones tearful declaration at the end about books and cleverness are just as magical as the spells themselves.

Just Remake The Existing Stuff

Unboxing 2nd book of harry potter chamber of secrets

I have two controversial Harry Potter-based opinions. The first is that Hufflepuff is the best house, and the second, more interesting, opinion is that the best book in the series is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

I say controversial because plenty of fans will tell you that the penultimate book is one of the weaker in the series. Aside from its finale, nothing really happens, and the book spends most of its time as a kind of teen drama set in a wizarding school. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are just wizard schoolchildren for most of the book, not fearless adventurers.

Its these quiet moments in the Harry Potter series that I love the most, and yet theyre the ones that inevitably got cut the most when translating each of the books into individual feature-length movies. Remaking them as a Harry Potter TV series could be the thing to change this, by being able to waste a bit of time on the more mundane, and yet utterly compelling, aspects of wizarding life. Harry’s arm is boneless after Gilderoy Lockhart tried to mend his arm

Dobby wants to save Harry Potter’s life! Better sent home, grievously injured, than remain here sir! Dobby only wanted Harry Potter hurt enough to be sent home!
Dobby explaining his plans to Harry

Harry, Ron and Hermione decide that the heir is probably Draco Malfoy, since everyone in his family have been sorted into Slytherin House, he is a Pureblood supremacist, and because his father worked for Voldemort. To try to confirm it, Hermione proposes to use Polyjuice Potion, which can change a person into somebody else for an hour. After getting Lockhart’s signature to check out the book Moste Potente Potions from the Restricted Section that has the recipe, Hermione warns them that the potion will take a month to brew, supposing they gather all the necessary ingredients . Since no one comes into Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom, the three of them decide it is the best place to brew the potion unnoticed. Hermione begins working with the ingredients they have.

The Chamber Of Secrets

  • In the book, when McGonagall and the other teachers volunteer Lockhart to fight the Basilisk, the teachers are collected in the Staffroom with Harry and Ron hiding in the wardrobe. In the film, the teachers are gathered in front of the daubed message on the wall stating Ginny’s capture with Harry and Ron hiding behind a corner. Also, in the book the teachers’ comments after Lockhart has left them make it clear that they know he is incapable and were simply getting him out of the way. These comments are left out from the film, but it’s still highly unlikely the plan was ever genuine and unlike in the book, the second message is seen on-screen in the film.
  • In the book, when Harry and Ron realise that Lockhart is a fraud, they subdue him by performing a Disarming Charm and throwing his wand out of the window. In the film, Lockhart drops his wand in a manner of defeat, when Harry and Ron point theirs at his face.
  • Also, the book has Gilderoy Lockhart citing some specific examples of individuals that he not only stole credit for their deeds from, but also wiped memories from as insurance. The film does not actually list any specific examples of his victims.
  • In the book, it says that the snake who had shed the skin must have been at least twenty feet long. In the film, Ron remarks that the creature must have been at least sixty feet long.
