Harry Potter Success And Salaries
In 2000, Radcliffe was invited to audition for the title role in the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone . After a number of callback auditions and an eight-month wait, he was offered the role. It would become the breakout that brought him international fame and wealth.
The first Harry Potter film was released in 2001, and young Daniel reportedly received a paycheck of $1 million. The second film of the series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, was released a year later and earned similar box-office success. It also earned Radcliffe a fee of $3 million. Although those numbers sound high to most of us, they’re nothing compared to the paychecks Radcliffe would command for the remaining movies of the series.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, released in 2004, earned Radcliffe a payday of $6 million. He went on to make $11 million for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and $14 million for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, released in 2005 and 2007, respectively. The sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, reportedly brought Daniel another $24 million. The last book of the series was split into two films: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2 . Radcliffe’s combined earnings from both movies were $50 million.
Daniel Radcliffe Admits Hes Intensely Embarrassed By His Acting In Harry Potter
Its hard to separate my relationship with Harry from my relationship with the films as a whole.
Daniel Radcliffe is one of Hollywoods record breaking child actors who had the odd experience of having their childhood flash before the big screens through our fave wizard Harry Potter movies. The talented actor was a mere 11 years old when the first trilogy Sorcerers Stone came out, and as we all now and love, he goes on to portray the role alongside Emma Watson, Rupert Grint for the past decade.
However, we all know how its like being an award kid, doing rather peculiar and weird things, now double that, imagine having it all recorded and plastered in cinemas all over the world. Which at times bring certain feelings that emerge when looking back on those times, some even embarrassing for Radcliffe.

Daniel Radcliffe Used Alcohol To Cope With Fame
Radcliffe’s post-wizarding career has been a grab-bag of eclectic roles: acting nude on Broadway, starring as a man who grows horns in a comedy horror film, and portraying a low-level employee of God , to name a few.
But toward the end of his “Potter” run, the actor struggled with alcohol use, which was sometimes put on display in tabloids. He has since gotten sober and spoken publicly on the lack of a blueprint for child stars growing up in the public eye.
“The quickest way of forgetting about the fact that you were being watched was to get very drunk,” he told “Off Camera With Sam Jones” in 2019. “Then as you get very drunk, you become aware that, ‘Oh, people are watching more now because now I’m getting very drunk, so I should probably drink more to ignore that more.'”
Child actors are held to higher standards when they’re younger, because they’re in these roles adult responsibilities are expected of them, Gillen says. When you have those kinds of expectations placed on you at a young age, you don’t have the opportunity to explore your identity and to have freedom from those responsibilities. Everyone at one point or another in life needs time to explore and figure out who they are and make mistakes.

Im a little biased as they say, because this sixth film is based on one of my favorite books in the series, and yet seems to omit the very things that make the book pop. We get almost no origins of Voldemort material and very little in terms of Snapes backstory, instead saving that for one long montage in the final picture. Moreover, and this is not necessarily a criticism (because it works for this adaptation, but the film painfully telegraphs what in the book was a jaw-dropping plot twist. Even with an overindulgence in hormonal hijinks, this one still works as a visual differentiation while Tom Feltons Malfoy shines as a young man tortured by the implications of actually doing evil as opposed to merely being evil.
