It’s still worth a watch for the sweeping castle scenes, a giant snake, and a magical sword, among other things.

Charlie Hunnam stars as King Arthur and Jude Law plays his uncle, the throne-coveting tyrant Vortigern, who wants his nephew dead.

Harry Potter Movies List: The Shortlist

This Harry Potter movies list is one that Im going to leave a little open-ended.

For now, Im thinking this Harry Potter movies list will include the movies that mention some of the major players and storylines weve seen in the trailer- especially any that touch on the Gellert Grindelwald/Albus Dumbledore and Dumbledore/Flamel relationships.

, Im going to say the important movies on this Harry Potter movies list are:

The Harry Potter Franchise Avoided The Best Part Of Its Timeline

Harry Potter, out of orderâ¦

Watching the Fantastic Beasts movies in order isn’t a hard task, as there are only three of them, but the Harry Potter franchise should’ve taken its focus elsewhere â the first Wizarding World war against Voldemort. Something like an original Order of the Phoenix series would’ve been a much more popular route to go, rather than introducing a slew of new characters and then haphazardly connecting them to Harry Potter. A lot of things got cut from book to screen regarding the first war, and it’s a period in time in which fans are heavily interested.

If an Order of the Phoenix series were created, audiences would’ve gotten to see Voldemort in his prime, as well as a young James Potter and Sirius Black in action. A focus on the Order of the Phoenix would bring many fan-favorite adult Harry Potter characters to life, and could’ve included impactful events like what happened to Neville’s parents, or the fact that the prophecy could’ve connected to either Neville or Harry . Either way, Rowling and company really missed out when deciding to make the canon-defying Fantastic Beasts series, instead of a Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix-based one.

She re-designed the Quidditch robes, having initially planned to use those shown on the cover of the American book, but deemed them “a mess.” Instead, she dressed the Quidditch players in “preppie sweaters, 19th-century fencing breeches and arm guards.” Production designer Stuart Craig built the sets at Leavesden Studios, including Hogwarts Great Hall, basing it on many English cathedrals. Although originally asked to use an existing old street to film the Diagon Alley scenes, Craig decided to build his own set, comprising Tudor, Georgian and Queen Anne architecture.

Columbus originally planned to use both animatronics and CGI animation to create the magical creatures, including Fluffy. Nick Dudman, who worked on Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, was given the task of creating the needed prosthetics, with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop providing creature effects. John Coppinger stated that the magical creatures that needed to be created had to be designed multiple times. The film features nearly 600 special effects shots, involving numerous companies. Industrial Light & Magic created Lord Voldemort‘s face on the back of Quirrell, Rhythm & Hues animated Norbert and Sony Pictures Imageworks produced the Quidditch scenes.
