Harry Potter: Wizards Unite
If you liked the concept behind Pokémon GO! but cant really get into the whole Pocket Monsters thing, then this is the Harry Potter game for you.
This AR game isnt the most creative thing around, as what it does is spraying a coat of Harry Potter goodness on top of the geolocation game.
That said, that doesnt make it any less fun for a HP fan.
The story doesnt make that much sense IMO. But its solid enough to justify your efforts in protecting the Statute of Secrecy of the magic society.
Youll unlock new scenes and interactions with fan-favorite characters like Harry himself as you progress through the game.
Major League Quidditch Which Is Highest Level Of Quidditch Competition In North America And Us Quidditch Have Announced The Decision To Change Their Names In A Joint Statement
Ever since 2020 when JK Rowling was embroiled in a Twitter controversy over her alleged transphobic remarks, many Potterheads distanced themselves from her. Earlier last week, two of the biggest Quidditch teams in America announced their decision to change their names in an attempt to Distance themselves from the works of J.K. Rowling who has increasingly come under scrutiny for her anti-trans positions in recent years. This is also being done to solve trademark issues associated with the term Quidditch that is owned by Warner Bros studio.
MLQ and are working together to change the name of the game literally.
Learn more about the decision and take the next steps to make your voice heard:
Major League Quidditch
The trademark ownership by Warner Bros has limited the USQ and MLQs access to equipment, broadcasting rights, and sponsorships. In their statement, the teams said that they will conduct a series of surveys over the next few months to guide a decision on the new name. The new name is likely to be revealed by January 2022.
While some people have supported this move, others have accused the team of being over woke and being motivated by profit-making.

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
This game is a bit of a divisive subject among Harry Potter fans.
Graphics are substantially improved from previous games, and the puzzles are some of the best in the series. It requires you to switch between Harry, Ron, and Hermione to take advantage of their unique skills and progress through the game.
Its a nice little feature and true fans will enjoy being able to play as all characters.
That said, the storytelling is lacking and action-scenes are quite dull. Exploration, while still there, is also scaled-down. Which is pretty unacceptable for a large portion of the fanbase.
One way or another its a very enjoyable game, and it features some of the best stealth gameplay in the series.
Hermione Granger And Ron Weasley
As Harrys closest friends, Hermione and Rons names reveal a lot about their role in the series. Hermione comes from a Shakespeare play, but Rowling said the name was meant to reflect that Hermiones parents wanted to give their daughter a smart and unique name.
As for Ron, while his first name sounds rather common, it could refer to an Old Norse name “Rögnvaldr which is the name for the adviser to a ruler. This would make sense given Rons sidekick role.

Harry Potter: Every Main Characters Name
Harry Potter fans know almost everything there is to know about the main characters, but what about the meaning of their names?
In the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a name is more than what the character makes it. The name makes the character. Many authors take precious time to make sure they choose just the right name to convey what they want, and J.K. Rowling is no exception. Sometimes, choosing the name is the most difficult part of writing a character.
Names can be made up or taken from an author’s own childhood or influences. They can be used as fun little discoveries or to hide deep secret revelations in plain sight.

Lego Harry Potter: Years 5
Just like the prequel, this game is all about immersing yourself in a less serious and very humorous version of the Harry Potter universe.
Replayability is among the most remarkable aspects of these games. As trying to collect every single LEGO piece, finding secrets, and unlocking characters is very addictive.
Have a friend over, pop open some sodas and enjoy some couch multiplayer goodness.
Youll see these games are just as enjoyable now as they were back when they came out. Even non-Harry Potter fanatics will likely have a great time here.
Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire
HP and the Goblet of Fire is the perfect game from the franchise for those in love with hack and slash gameplay. And I know there are plenty of you out there.
Its a pretty linear adventure that roughly follows the events of the movie split into different missions where Harry, Ron, and Hermione collect Tri-Wizard shields in a manner similar to collecting stars in Super Mario 64.
Although the exploration element is sorely missed, the graphics were pretty nice here. And the whole thing can even be fun if you allow yourself to look past Ron and Hermiones terrible AI and the often repetitive combat.
Its also worth noting that the games storytelling is basic and essentially assumes youve already watched the movie.

Live Action Television Series

What Was The Trans Row About
On Sunday, Rowling shared a message from a follower online apologising to the writer for having previously labelled her transphobic, when she had been “standing up for women”.
Rowling’s comments were applauded by some but criticised by others, and many high-profile people associated with her have distanced themselves from her comments about trans issues.
It was recently announced Rowling will not appear on a forthcoming Harry Potter reunion.
Last year, Rowling has said she was giving back an award associated with the US Kennedy family, after Kerry Kennedy said views expressed by Rowling recently “diminished the identity” of trans people.
Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson were among those who have distanced themselves from Rowling’s comments. Several Quidditch bodies are now following suit.
Matt Bateman, president of QuidditchUK, told The Times: “We cannot continue to call ourselves Quidditch and be associated with JK Rowling while she continues to make damaging and hateful comments against the many transgender athletes, staff and volunteers who call this sporting community home.”

Lego Harry Potter: Years 1
After LEGO figured out how to turn their brand into a multi-medium franchise through personality and humor, their video games saw a considerable improvement from the LEGO Creator days.
Exploring locales, making potions, and of course collecting copious amounts of you-know-what pieces in various ways.
This is the perfect recipe for a good time.
Plus re-living iconic scenes from the series in the charming and often hilarious style LEGO games are known for is the perfect way to keep things fresh.
Gender Or Four Maximum Rule And The Lgbt Community
Since its inception, quidditch has sought gender equality on the pitch. One of the most important requirements within the sport is its ‘four maximum’ rule:
A quidditch game allows each team to have a maximum of four players, not including the seeker, who identify as the same gender in active play on the field at the same time. The gender that a player identifies with is considered to be that player’s gender, which may or may not correspond with that person’s sex. This is commonly referred to as the “four maximum” rule.USQ accepts those who don’t identify within the binary gender system and acknowledges that not all of our players identify as male or female. USQ welcomes people of all identities and genders into our league.
âUS Quidditch, “Four Maximum Rule”
In 2013, US Quidditch created Title 9+3â4, a branch of the IQA that actively promotes advocacy and awareness as well as gender equality and inclusivity, whose role moved on to the IQA under its “Initiatives”. The sport has also been illustrated to yield a positive experience for athletes of all genders, increased desires for inclusivity and stereotype reduction. Testimonials include: “The gender rule makes playing safe for me. I’m trans and genderqueer, two reasons I never know which team to join … so having a non-binary option means I don’t have to choose.”

Films And Video Games
Quidditch appears in five of the eight Harry Potter films. Some Quidditch subplots, such as Ron’s Keeper storyline in Order of the Phoenix, were cut to save time in the films. Video games that feature Quidditch include:
In the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Islands of Adventure theme park, Quidditch is featured near the end where riders are flown through the Quidditch pitch. A storefront near Ollivanders Wand Shop is themed as a Quidditch supply with a Golden Snitch on the sign and a case containing animated Quaffle and Bludgers surrounded by Beaters’ bats.
Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets
Everything that The Philosophers Stone did right, Chamber of Secrets did twofold.
This game was simply amazing back in the day when it first came out. And it remains superior to most of the series.
In this game the protagonist isnt Harry, but the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding.
Exploration was very open. But you could only access some areas after acquiring certain spells, much like The Legend of Zelda. Very cool feature.
The puzzles were satisfying, progression was seamless, and it involved an enjoyable amount of backtracking. Each sealed area teased you with the promise of uncovering more secrets which is what the movie was all about as well.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is, without a doubt, the best HP game in existence. Highly recommend giving this a try whenever you get the chance.

When Ginny Kissed Harry
Fans are still unsure where the film version of Harry and Ginny rank among the best couples. However, the theme that plays during their first kiss in the movie can make one steer toward this pair as it makes the setting seem so intimate and romantic.
It brings out the feeling that theres something secretive going on, with only the people in love aware of just what it is. Like Ginny says in the film, their kiss can be a secret if Harry likes and the song perfectly reflects the same emotions.

Sirius Black & Remus Lupin
These names are fun and playful in what they reveal about their characters. The name Sirius is in reference to the brightest star in the night sky, also known as the “dog star,” and is part of the Alpha Canis Majoris, the Great Dog constellation. The word is derived from the Greek word “seirios,” meaning “glowing” or “scorching.” Sirius’s Animagus is a black dog.
The name Remus finds its origin in the Roman myth “Romulus and Remus.” Lupin comes from the Latin word “lupinus,” meaning wolf, and everyone knows that Remus Lupin is a werewolf.
Quidditch Leagues Set To Pick New Name After Jk Rowling Trans Row
Two US Quidditch leagues are to change their names in order to “distance” themselves from Harry Potter author JK Rowling, following a trans row.
Quidditch first appeared as a fictional sport, played by wizards on flying broomsticks, in her book series.
The real-life version is a fast-paced contact sport, played by more than 450 teams in over 30 countries.
A spokesman for the author pointed out these Quidditch leagues had not been endorsed by Rowling in the first place.
In a joint statement first reported by The Times, US Quidditch and Major League Quidditch said they would now decide on new names for the game.
The newspaper said possible alternative options put forward by USQ include Quickball, Quicker, Quidstrike and Quadraball.

Is Quidditch A Real Sport
Yes and no. It depends on how you define quidditch and how you define sport.
In the Harry Potter universe, quidditch is a game played by wizards and witches. Each team consists of seven players, each flying on a broomstick. Players attempt to throw soccer-ball-size balls, called quaffles, through three large hoop goals at either end of the pitch a goal is worth 10 points. One player on each team is designated the seeker, and it is his or her job to capture the golden snitch, a golden winged ball the size of a walnut that zips around the playing field of its own volition. The team that catches the snitch earns 150 points, which, because each match goes to 150, generally ends the game.
In the nonfiction universe, however, we don’t have flying brooms or snitches, so folks who really want to play quidditch have improvised a version of the game called muggle quidditch. The rules of this game vary from league to league yes, there are leagues but they generally follow the same rules as the fictional game. There are a few differences, though. Quaffles are often replaced with dodge balls and the goals are made of hula hoops mounted on PVC pipes. The snitch is usually a neutral player, dressed in gold, who enters the field of play every so often and runs around trying to avoid being tagged by either team’s seeker. Oh, and no flying, but the players must straddle a broom as they scamper around.
Creation For Books And Films
Rowling has suggested that she may have inadvertently taken the name from the hogwort plant , which she had seen at Kew Gardens some time before writing the series, although the names “The Hogwarts” and “Hoggwart” appear in the 1954 Nigel Molesworth book How to Be Topp by Geoffrey Willans.
Most exterior scenes were shot on location at Alnwick Castle, but views of the exterior of the entire school were created from shots of Durham Cathedral with a digital spire added to the towers. Durham Cathedral also served as a set for Hogwarts interiors.
A scale model was created for exterior shots of the entire school. Models of Alnwick Castle and Durham Cathedral were also built to create more integration between the model and on location shots. It took a team of 86 artists and crew members 74 years worth of man hours to complete the model.
