His grave reads,Here lies Dobby, a Free Elf. Its a beautiful location, right by the sea!

In the books and movies, Shell Cottage is actually based on the outskirts of Tinworth, Cornwall.

But, if youve ever wondered where Dobby is buried in real life then you only need visit the Pembrokeshire coastline in Wales.

The Dobbys grave location can be found tucked away in the sand dunes of the stunning Freshwater West Beach.

This was the Harry Potter Beach filming location where they filmed Shell Cottagefrom Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2.

Freshwater West Beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales

Start Out At The Car Park By The Caf Mr Food Van

So, once youve parked up at the car park in Freshwater West. Youll need to start heading towards the beach.

I wouldnt personally walk on the single track road behind the dunes. Id head down the laid out pathway towards the sandy coastline.

Freshwater West beach is a half pebbled beached and half sand beach. So, you will need to tread over quite a few large pebbles to actually make it onto the soft sand.

I made the mistake of climbing onto the sand dunes straight away. This was because it was sunset and I wanted to make a beeline for Dobbys grave before it got dark.

I thought it would save some time. But, I would avoid doing that at all costs.

It ended up with me climbing over mountains of sand and made the walk twice as long as it should be.

Why Did Severus Love Lily So Much

Simply because Lily was kind to him, he became obsessive and delusional. He believed that Lily Potter wanted more from him and in their relationship. When Lily tried to stand up to James Potter while he was bullying Snape, Snape lost his temper and called Lily a mudblood. The only person he obsessed over was Lily.

Discovered In Book 2 Chapter 18 Dobby’s Reward

Dobbys Dangerous Bludger Stunt

We can see how desperate and annoyed Dobby was becoming because the third attempt at Harrys removal from Hogwarts was outright dangerous and had the potential to fatally injury the famous wizard!

This happened during Harrys game of quidditch against team Slytherin and this time, it was the fault of a rogue bludger!

A bludger, is what is used in the very rough school sports game of quidditch.

A bludger is made of iron and is magic. Its main purpose throughout the game is to fly and attempt to knock players off their broomsticks and making it difficult for the teams to navigate the field.

Our delightful little house-elf, Dobby, had magically tampered with the bludger and it was going crazy and only seeking out to knock Harry off his broom and no other players!

Dobbys intentions mind you, were only to injury Harry to the point where hed be sent back to Surrey from Hogwarts, he wasnt out to cause in lasting damage in his defence!

Although dangerous you can see where Dobby was going with this, and surely this time, it had to work!

Harry after narrowly escaping the bludger and coming off his broom, did in fact catch the snitch and win the game for Gryffindor, however, the bludger carried on trying to smash harry, it was only when Hermione came to help and destroyed the bludger that Harry could then relax!

Harry did injure his arm, but he wasnt sent home!

Bedridden, who should decide to visit Harry? Yep, Dobby appeared and owned up to his recent sabotage pranks!

Voldemort: Dead By His Own Curse

This is a relatively minor grievance when compared with the others, but in keeping with the theme of Harry and his friends always ensuring their hands remain clean, Harry Potter doesnt even kill Voldemort at the end. Now, in some stories, the hero refusing to kill the villain is in service to some theme or other, but not here.

Voldemorts death is of the sort wed expect of a Disney villain. In other words, the hero doesnt have to get his hands dirty, because Voldemort does himself in. This blatantly contradicts the prophecy that the whole story is built on:

and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not

Notice the part where one of them has to die at the hand of the other there? Yeah Voldemort ties by his own curse, so thats out the window.

What Else Is There To Do At The Harry Potter Beach

Beyond Dobbys burial site, Freshwater West beach is one of Pembrokeshires best-kept secrets!

Its called freshwater for a reason its gorgeous clear waters really sparkle any time you visit. That and the miles of clean sand make it a spectacular bit of coastline.

Although I visited on a day which was a bit of a washout with heavy rains. I was so happy that the sun came out for the last few hours of the day.

It made such a difference being able to stroll along here in the sunshine.

There is not a lot to do at Freshwater West beach as its so remote. Its not your typical beach resort with a pier, arcade games and a build-up of shops.

Its untouched and natural and thats the best part about it!

Its a great place to visit all year. In the summer, you can walk along the shore or sunbathe.

In the cooler months, its still great for a scenic walk even if it is a bit bracing!

The Choices Of Harry Potter

It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.

By the time Harry faces Voldemort for the last time, the boy wizard has become further purified as a christ figure. Thus, he doesnt have to overcome any personal flaws to fulfill his destiny.

By contrast, if we look at the example of Samwise Gamgee, the chief protagonist in The Lord of the Rings, we see a character who saves the world by overcoming his character flaws.

The author, main character, and wise mentor all condescend to a black woman for hating slavery, because slavery is good, and the black woman who wants to abolish it is just being bossy.

Dobbys Employment At Hogwarts

After Harry Potter had done the impossible by freeing Dobby from the hideous Lucius Malfoy, Dobby was delighted in that he came to work at Hogwarts and would actually receive payment for the jobs he was doing around the school.

Not only this, but he also got to remain not too far from Harry and would be around to protect him, just in case he should need it!

Dobby developed a passion for clothing, having been deprived of it for so long. With his earnings, he would spend his time buying how very own yarn to create his own garments.

I expect Dobbys newly found freedom would give him a new purpose in life, finally being free to enjoy his own existence without having to serve to dreadful Maylfoys every request whilst punishing himself in the process!

Socks became a huge significance to Dobby, given the fact that it was this piece of clothing that would enable him to be free, he began to love them and would go on to make a pair of mismatching socks for Harry as a Christmas gift, bless him!

What Youll Find At Dobbys Burial Site

I wasnt too sure what to expect when I got here. Of course, I knew that Shell Cottage wouldnt be there.

But, what I found in its place was so touching. It was like a portal that transports you into the Wizarding World all over again!

What started out as just a few pebbles left at this location a couple of years ago has now transformed into a HUGE memorial. Its like a Dobby shrine.

There were beautiful hand-painted pebbles all with loving messages.

They said things likeR.I.P Dobby,Master has given Dobby a sock, Forever a Free Elf, Such a beautiful place to be with friendsand Harry Potter Forever.

There were even socks left here and other gifts! Some kind fan had even made a crucifix for the gravesite. It was incredible to see and quite moving.

I could have spent hours looking at all the pretty paintings and reading the messages that had been left. Plus, the views from up here are breathtaking.

Anyone is free to bring their own pebbles, socks and gifts to Dobbys grave. So, dont be shy! Why not prepare something for your visit?

When Dobby Was Finally Free

We can only dream of how awful it would be to have the Malfoys for masters. Their cruelty, snobbery, bigotry and insecurity made them a pretty foul family. They also treated Dobby abysmally. Our hearts broke every time we witnessed or heard about their brutality towards such a lovely and wonderful character. So, the moment that Dobby realised he was free of his toxic owners was definitely one of our favourite moments. Dobby was now a free elf… and there was nothing Lucius Malfoy could do about it.

Magical Abilities And Skills

• Apparition: Because he was a house-elf, Dobby was able to apparate, even inside places that normally forbade Apparition such as Hogwarts and Malfoy Manor.
• Levitation: Dobby displayed the ability to levitate a cake when trying to stop Harry from returning to Hogwarts. The Ministry referred to this as the Hover Charm, mistakenly believing that Harry cast the charm.
• Magical tampering: Dobby also displayed a talent for magically tampering with objects. This was shown when he tampered with a bludger forcing it to chase Harry hoping that if it hurt him badly enough he’d be sent home. Naturally Dobby was not intending to kill Harry in fact he was trying to save him from Lucius Malfoy’s plan to open the Chamber of Secrets. Also, he tampered with the barrier that leads to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, a very powerful magical barrier.

“There was a loud bang, and Mr Malfoy was thrown backward. He crashed down the stairs, three at a time, landing in a crumpled heap on the landing below. He got up, his face livid, and pulled out his wand, but Dobby raised a long, threatening finger.”

• Magical blasts: By clicking his fingers, Dobby can release powerful blasts of magic at other creatures or wizards and witches. He performed this ability in 1993, when he magically blasted his former master Lucius Malfoy away from attacking Harry Potter, sending him flying down several flights of stairs.

Who Is Dobby The Elf In Harry Potter

Avid Harry Potter fans can easily skip this section as Dobby will need no introduction.

However, if youve never heard of Dobby before , he was first introduced to the Potter series in the Chamber of Secrets.

He was an enslaved house elf that belonged to the notorious Malfoy family. For years, he was abused and badly treated by these Dark Wizards.

He was custom to daily threats from the Malfoys and, later, would often punish himself if he did something wrong as he had endured years of being mistreated.

In the Chamber of Secrets, Dobby learns of the plot to reopen the Chamber of Secrets.

Dobby tries to warn Harry to not return to Hogwarts to save him from danger. But, the house-elf ends up causing absolute mayhem in the process!

Later on, Harry warms to him and wants to set him free. But, the only way to free a house-elf is when their master presents them with clothing.

At the end of the film, Dobby is given Tom Riddles diary by Lucius Malfoy. But, unbeknownst to Lucius, Harry had hidden a sock inside the pages!

Master has given a sock, Master gave it to Dobby. Got a sock, Master threw it, and Dobby caught it, and Dobby Dobby is free

So, Dobby became a free elf and a friendly ally to Harry and his friends. Although he was free, he was later employed by Dumbledore at Hogwarts.

He would do whatever Harry asked of him as he was eternally grateful for setting him free.

I think explaining the popularity of the Harry Potter series is relatively simple. Harry embodies a sick, twisted power fantasy, which readers can revel in. Hes a rich, famous superhuman in a world where only he matters, and this struck a chord with peopleespecially children. Viewed through this lens, it echoes the popularity of books like Atlas Shrugged.

I could talk about how the werewolves and giants are established as the targets of bigotry only for them to join Voldemort in the end, but I dont think theres much more I can say. If all this wont convince you of how ethically, morally, and structurally broken the Harry Potter series is, I dont know what will.

J.K. Rowling is a transphobic bigot who tweets TERF rhetoric at children. She writes disjointed stories about a heroic slaveowner, whom other characters constantly die to protectincluding a former slave. More than that, the text of Harry Potter is blatantly and inherently pro-slavery. No amount of content on Pottermore will change that.
