Was Harry Potter Snape’s Son

Snape Never Insulted Harry About His Mother Only His Father

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 – Snape’s memories part 1 (HD)

As Harrys professor, Snape takes merciless enjoyment in tormenting the Boy Who Lived, mocking everything from his fame to his scar. One of Snapes favorite jabs to make, which obviously hurt Harry the most, was regarding the arrogance and insufferable nature of Harrys father, James.

Harry has no way of knowing that his father was a rival of the Potions Master, and even if he had known, it wouldnt have made it any more bearable on a young boy who barely even knew his parents. Snape never insulted Lily in front of Harry, which was a huge clue to foreshadow why he bothered to ever help the boy in the first place.

Rita Skeeter Probably Wrote A Tell

Rita Skeeter is a journalist and author in the Wizarding World known for her sensationalized tell-alls, including “The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore.”

In a 2007 interview with Bloomsbury, Rowling joked that Skeeter would probably have gone on to write a biography titled “Snape: Scoundrel or Saint?” after the character’s death.

Snape May Have Ended His Relationship With Lily Evans By Calling Her An Offensive Name

“Half-Blood Prince” also gave fans a glimpse at the relationship between Severus and Lily through memories in the Pensieve. But the film version doesn’t clearly show why their relationship fell apart the way it did.

In the book, we learn that James Potter and his friends were bullying Snape, and Lily came to his defense. Instead of accepting her act of kindness, he rejected her and called her a “mudblood” an insult to witches and wizards with Muggle parents despite his own impure bloodline.

Their relationship seemed to be permanently damaged from that day on.

Snape Tried To Get Voldemort To Spare Lily

As soon as Snape discovers that the information he passed on to his beloved Dark Lord led to the woman he loved, he begged his master to spare her life. This is the moment that saved Harry’s life, where Lily chose instead to sacrifice herself to protect her infant.

Snape’s request, although ultimately ignored by Voldemort, is important not only because it points to how much he cares about Lily, but that in those few seconds, he also inadvertently helps to save Harry’s life.

Why Did Harry Potter Name His Son After Snape? J.K ...

Not only did Snape ignore that Lily didn’t return his feelings and resent her choice after he was emotionally abusive to her, but he also blamed James for his own behavior. This lack of personal responsibility is an unfortunate cliché and may be why Lily didn’t reciprocate his feelings.

Perhaps because of incidents in his final years – from being coerced by Dumbledore to obviously living a miserable double agent life – he was still miserable that he’d never “gotten” Lily, whom he mourned even after he sold her out.

Dumbledore Used Lily’s Eyes To Manipulate Snape

Every character in the Harry Potter universe is flawed like real people are. Dumbledore is not immune to this, no matter how high and mighty he might seem. In fact, some argue that he’s actually not a very responsible teacher or Headmaster at all.

Dumbledore manipulates Snape after Lily dies, hoping it will convince Snape to protect Harry and support the fight against darkness. Harry, who later realizes that all people make mistakes, names his child after both Severus and Albus, opting to recognize their goodness.

Severus Snape And The Philosophers Stone

Still, that didnt mean that he had to like the guy, who looked annoyingly like his father James Potter.

Nonetheless, Snape had a job to do. During Harrys first year, Dumbledore and Snape suspected a fellow teacher, Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor Quirrell, of trying to steal a precious magical object hidden within Hogwarts grounds: The Philosophers Stone. Because he was clever, Snape saw through Quirrells plans pretty quickly, which involved setting trolls loose in the dungeon, and trying to jinx Harry Potters broom during a Quidditch match.

Snape, of course, gallantly confronted Quirrell, but in the end, Harry and his two friends got all the credit, with Snape getting set on fire in the process. Charming.

Order Of The Phoenix Members

Professor Snape (Harry Potter Song)
Fred Weasley: Git.

Snapes relationships with some members of the Order of the Phoenix have already been established: Lily Evans, the , Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and Minerva McGonagall.

Snape was not particularly gracious towards Nymphadora Tonks, probably because she was so close to Remus Lupin. When they met at school in 1996, he maliciously said I was interested to see your new Patronus. I think you were better off with the old one the new one looks weak. Snape did, however, respect Tonks abilities as he was her Potions master whilst she was a Hogwarts student and she earned an O in her O.W.L. This is evident as he never let one with a lesser grade take the N.E.W.T which was a requirement to be an auror. Tonks was shocked when Snape killed Dumbledore and never learned that Snape was on their side, as she was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange during the Battle of Hogwarts.

Snape had a mixed relationship with the Weasley family. While he disliked their children, he seemed to be on civil terms with Arthur and Molly. However, when he murdered Dumbledore, the Weasley family obviously turned against him. Snape also accidentally cursed off Georges ear, during the Battle of the Seven Potters, while he was trying to hit another Death Eater. The Weasley family learned that Snape was on their side in 1998, except Fred, who was killed in the Battle of Hogwarts.

One of the biggest questions throughout Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was the prince’s identity. Everything that was written in his Potions book made Harry excel in the course, and his professor was under the impression that he was just a natural.

Snape turning out to be the legendary student was a plot twist that shocked Harry beyond belief. The reveal was made more intense by the dark magic that Harry had used on Draco, and the malice with which Snape delivered the line was chilling.

British Wizarding Civil War

Sirius Black: Have you spoken with Dumbledore yet? He said upon graduation we can join the Order of the Phoenix! I cant bloody wait to stick it to those Death Eaters!
Severus: Have fun, because joining the Order is something I do not plan on doing.
Sirius Black: What the hell do you mean Sev? Youd just stand by and do nothing while Voldemort prances around Britain murdering every undesirable he sees?! If thats not cowardice I dont-
Severus: I AM NOT A COWARD! I hate the bloody Dark Lord, but I do not, and have never, trusted Dumbledore. Hes a man who would ruin ones life for the Greater Good, proclaiming to be fighting for the light while pulling the strings like some almighty sodding puppet master! Let the manipulators fight their own bloody war, I refuse to get involved!
Sirius Black and Severus arguing about supporting the war effort against the Dark Lord

It was no surprise that open war was declared upon the Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort many had foreseen it, including Severus, who already had a contingency plan. Although joining the Dark Lord was completely out of the question, Severus could not bring himself to support the Order of the Phoenix either, as it was being led by Albus Dumbledore, a man whom Severus did not trust in the least. It was decided that he would stay neutral move to France until the war was over and Voldemort vanquished.

Petunia Knows About Lily’s Relationship With Snape

What if Harry Potter was really the son of Severus Snape ...

Though it’s a quick moment, there’s a shot of young Petunia in Snape’s memories that he gives to Harry. She’s wary of him, perhaps knowing that he’s of magical descent, but she’s also jealous that Lily is going away to become a witch.

His Final Words Differ In The Final Movie Compared To The Book

Snape’s death is one of the most emotional moments in the series.

In the film, as Harry is holding a dying Snape in his arms, the professor uses his final words to repeat a line we’ve heard from several other characters throughout the series: “You have your mother’s eyes.”

The book, however, is a bit more subtle. He simply says “Look … at … me …,” presumably, so he could see Lily’s eyes one last time.

Jk Rowling Explains Why Harry Potter Named His Son After Snape

Severus Snape is one of the most complex characters in all of the Harry Potter series. He was introduced as a bully among the Hogwarts staff, tormenting Harry and his friends. Later in the series, Snape appeared to have revealed his true colors as a Death Eater spy for Lord Voldemort, and murdered the school’s benevolent headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. Those same fans were then caught off guard when it came to light that Snape had actually been acting as a double agent for Dumbledore, and had been working to protect Harry, out of love for Harry’s mother, since the series began.

Snape heroically sacrificed himself towards the end series, but does that give him a pass for how miserable he made Harry throughout the years? Fans have been wrestling with this for a while, particularly the question of why Harry would name his youngest son, Albus Severus, after his tormentor.

Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling took to Twitter to discuss this complicated character and the reasons Harry would name a child after him. As you might expect, there’s no clear cut judgment to be made here.

Snape is all grey. You can’t make him a saint: he was vindictive & bullying. You can’t make him a devil: he died to save the wizarding world

Snape Only Cradles Lilys Body In The Movie

Film fans may not know that Snape did not arrive at the Potters home in Godrics Hollow in the book, which means that the scene where he cradles Lilys body is only included in the film, making Snape appear more sympathetic. However, it also calls into question what he did with Harry, who watched the scene unfold.

He doesnt raise him or deliver him to the Dursleys, although its possible that he helped in some other way. While the scene focuses on his guilt and regret, it also uses Lilys death to further develop his character. It adds a level of affection that book Snape doesnt seem capable of.
