How Did Dumbledore Destroy The Ring

Don't Miss

How Does One Create A Horcrux

What Was The Curse On Dumbledore’s Hand? The Horcrux Ring Explained

In order to create a Horcrux, the witch or wizard must distort their soul to such an extent that it is torn apart. Dumbledore suggests that one of the only ways to do so is cold-blooded murder. However, there could be an argument that numerous other acts can create a horcrux as well, assuming that they are so gruesome that your soul literally cannot handle it.

Save The Best For Last

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, however, is brimming with information and stories that will become important only later, even stories that, after reading the entire series and looking back, clarify so much about what led to that final duel. And about Dumbledore and the Resurrection Stone. In fact, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is really about Dumbledore, although you dont necessarily realize it at the start.

After the tedious first chapter, Dumbledore arrives at Number 4 Privet Drive to escort Harry to the Burrow. Harry notices Dumbledores hand is blackened, but when he asks about it, Dumbledore politely puts him off. We, too, put the matter aside, until its brought to our attention again, later in the book. Each time Harry asks about the damaged hand, Dumbledore delays explaining.

Sadly, Harry never gets to hear Dumbledore tell his thrilling tale. Dumbledore is killed at the top of the Astronomy Tower before he can tell it.

One gets the sense, throughout the entire book, that Dumbledore is purposely keeping his story to himself. Dumbledore is very intelligent, and uses his words wisely. So, if he wanted to tell Harry how his hand came to be injured, he would have made sure that there was a time and a place for it.

How Did Snape Feel About Killing Dumbledore

Snape was angry at Dumbledore for being tempted by the Ring, knowing it contained a curse.

Actually, he didnt want to kill Dumbledore but he had to do it. Firstly, because he had to keep a promise he had given Dumbledore earlier. As well, it was an act of mercy, as Dumbledore was already dying, from the curse he received because of the Ring.

So, Snape killed Dumbledore but he didnt cause his death. The curse and the potion did it. Nobody forced Dumbledore to put on the Ring neither to drink the potion.

Dumbledore caused his own death and Snape just finished his life.

Snapes motivation was merciful, intending to spare Dumbledore from a humiliating and painful death in the future.

The Battle of the Astronomy Tower and the death of Albus Dumbledore had a major impact on the wizarding world. The only wizard Lord Voldemort had ever feared and who had the power to oppose him was finally dead. The battle showed that there was no longer a place safe from the Death Eaters, as one of the Hogwarts students allowed them to enter and one of the teachers betrayed the school. Teachers were unsure if the school would remain open, so some parents dropped their children out of Hogwarts.

Unfortunately, this one was a little bit sad topic to write about .

What Did Hermione Find In Bathilda Bagshot’s Closet

Bathilda Bagshot has actually been dead for weeks, which explains the flies and blood handprints Hermione finds. Her body has been inhabited by Nagini, Voldemort’s snake put there to trap Harry because Voldemort suspected, just as Hermione said, that Harry would return to the town where he was born.

All 76 Deaths In Harry Potter, Ranked By Sadness ...

With the sword. Its mentioned in the books.

I think he didnt intend on dying, so he didnt mention it.

Didn’t he know that he was going to die though since the ring cursed his hand and he also knows Draco is ordered to kill him aka Snape will do so.

He used the sword. As for why he didn’t tell Harry, I have no idea. There is no good explanation, either from the character standpoint or from the writing standpoint. Dumbledore is secretive, many times unnecessarily so, but not giving Harry that information when they spoke about Horcruxes made no sense even for him. It was not dangerous information in any way, now that Harry knew about Horcruxes being a thing.

I guess he was probably going to show Harry after returning from the Cave, but all that goes to shit from out of the blue. But ultimately, I think it is a writing choice Rowling made without very good reason or payoff. Not knowing about the sword only made things more frustrating, not interesting, in DH. The way they find out is not remarkable in any way and it doesn’t even make sense that Ginny and co. went looking for the sword in Snape’s office. It would have been a lot more sensible if Ginny had maybe walked in on the gang talking about getting their hands on the sword or something at the Burrow. Would have maybe put it in her mind to try and help out in some way

What Are All The Horcruxes In Harry Potter And How Were They Destroyed

There were seven horcruxes that had to be destroyed to defeat Voldemort, but one was unknowingly created by the Dark Lord

Every Harry Potter fan will know there were a number of horcruxes that he had to find to defeat Voldemort, but you’d be forgiven for forgetting exactly how many or what they were.

Such was the complexity and genius with which the Harry Potter books were written that when many people whizzed excitedly through the final book at lightning speed, they had to go back to get their head around how the Dark Lord was stripped of his immortality.

Horcruxes are objects infused with dark magic that allow their owner to become immortal by holding a piece of their soul within them.

Part of Harry’s quest is to destroy each one in order to defeat Lord Voldemort, who renamed himself from Tom Riddle. Seven is, of course, the most magical number, which is why Voldemort split his soul into seven – each time committing murder to do so.

One piece of his soul remained inside him and he chose six objects with a special meaning or connection to him in which to place the other six pieces. However, he accidentally created a seventh horcrux and so split his soul into eight pieces.

Here is how each of them was discovered and destroyed.

How Did Dumbledore Become The Master Of The Elder Wand

The Elder Wand was the first of the Deathly Hallows and given to Antioch Peverell by Death himself in “The Tale of Three Brother.” According to the story, the Elder Wand, the Invisibility Cloak, and the Resurrection Stone could conquer death. Dumbledore was interested in them as a young man and came into contact with all three before the end of his life. The Elder Wand was the most powerful wand in existence and passed from wizard to wizard in a power struggle. How did Dumbledore come to possess it?

When Did Dumbledore Destroy The Horcrux Ring

In book 6, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, in Chapter 4, when Dumbledore takes Harry to meet Slughorn, he is using Gaunt’s ring to attract Slughorn:

He shrugged and spread his hands wide, as though to say that age had its compensations, and Harry noticed a ring on his uninjured hand that he had never seen Dumbledore wear before: It was large, rather clumsily made of what looked like gold, and was set with a heavy black stone that had cracked down the middle.

Than later on in Chapter 10, after seeing Odgan’s memory, the ring is still in Dumbledore’s office:

He turned away again, and was almost at the door when he saw it. Sitting on one of the little spindle-legged tables that supported so many frail-looking silver instruments, was an ugly gold ring set with a large, cracked, black stone.

Then, at the end of Chapter 13, after Dumbledore’s memory with young Tom Riddle, comes this:

Harry got to his feet. As he walked across the room, his eyes fell I upon the little table on which Marvolo Gaunt’s ring had rested last time, but the ring was no longer there. “Yes, Harry?” said Dumbledore, for Harry had come to a halt. “The ring’s gone,” said Harry, looking around. “But I thought you might have the mouth organ or something.”

So we see that the ring was destroyed somewhere in-between – that is, in the middle of Harry’s 6th year.

But in the 7th book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, in Chapter 33 “The Prince’s Tale”, we learn that:

Can someone solve the conflict?!

Dumbledore Destroys The Ring Horcrux With The Sword Of Gryffindor

Why Dumbledore Never Used The Resurrection Stone in The Horcrux Ring ? (+The Ring Origins)

“The ring, Harry. Marvolo’s ring. And a terrible curse there was upon it too. Had it not been forgive me the lack of seemly modesty for my own prodigious skill, and for Professor Snape’s timely action when I returned to Hogwarts, desperately injured, I might not have lived to tell the tale. However, a withered hand does not seem an unreasonable exchange for a seventh of Voldemort’s soul. The ring is no longer a Horcrux.”– Dumbledore, not telling the whole truth about his encounter with the Ring

Dumbledore discovers the ring in the ruins of the Gaunt hovel near Little Hangleton. He takes it back to his office at Hogwarts where he uses the Sword of Gryffidor to destroy it.

Why Did Hermione Not Help Dobby

Hermione was ofcourse in shock because of being tortured. She wouldnt have been able to heal him because she wasnt trained at healing. Dobbys wound was quite serious and needed immediate attention. Dobbys wound was probably more severe than we can think of because he didnt use any of his own magic to help himself.

When Did Each Horcrux Get Destroyed In The Harry Potter Movies

I have just watched the last of the Harry Potter movies for the second time on a long flight and my brain was addled through lack of sleep. As far as I remember, three of the eight horcruxes were destroyed in that movie.

But I couldn’t make my memory add the total destroyed up to eight across the movies. So when were they all destroyed, in which movie and by whom? And does the total add up to 8?

  • I thought the first horrocrux was Professor Quirrel. He was destroyed in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, by Harry Potter, with his hands. Remember Harry was the horrocrux never ment to be so, technically, there were eight horrocruxes. user19095Feb 20 ’15 at 3:07

The Horcrux hunt was a mission given to Harry Potter in to find all of Lord Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes and destroy them. The mission fell to Harry Potter to complete. He was joined by Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, and they set off in the aftermath of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour’s wedding.

Lord Voldemort’s had only seven Horcruxes:

  • Nagini the Snake. -> Destroyed by Neville Longbottom in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
  • Voldemort also retained part of his soul inside him.

They eventually destroyed all of the Horcruxes by 2 May 1998. The hunt ended with the death of Lord Voldemort at the hands of Harry Potter at the end of the Battle of Hogwarts and this is in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Voldemort Never Knew Dumbledore Found His Horcrux

The last time Voldemort saw Dumbledore was when he dueled him in the Ministry of Magic, at the end of Book 5. Dumbledore acquired the Resurrection Stone/Marvolo Gaunt’s ring some time in between the end of The Order of the Phoenix and the beginning of The Half-Blood Prince. Remember that Harry saw Dumbledore’s withered hand when he came to pick him up from the Dursleys’ place.

Let us not also forget that Voldemort was so confident in his own prowess that he did not, even in his wildest dream, dream that someone would know about – much less find – his Horcruxes.

“I believe not. I believe that Voldemort is now so immersed in evil, and these crucial parts of himself have been detached for so long, he does not feel as we do. Perhaps at the point of death he might be aware of his loss…”

-Dumbledore, Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince

Voldemort did not even realize that Harry and Dumbledore were after his Horcruxes until after 3 of them had been destroyed and a 4th captured . So it would be logical to assume that during the events of Book 6, Voldemort wasn’t paying attention to his Horcruxes, his hubris leading him to believe that they can’t even be touched.

Why Harry Potter Recast Dumbledore After Chamber Of Secrets

    THE GRANDMA

Albus Dumbledore was a major character in the Harry Potter series, but the role went through a recast early in the franchise, and heres why.

Outside of the young trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, Albus Dumbledore served one of the most crucial roles in the Harry Potter franchise but the character was recast after the second movie. Dumbledore was initially played by Irish actor Richard Harris when J.K. Rowlings books were adapted into movies by Warner Bros. Pictures. Following the second installment, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Dumbledore was recast, and heres why.

When the role of the Hogwarts Headmaster was initially being cast ahead of 2001s Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, actors Patrick McGoohan and Sean Connery were targeted for the part. The key role eventually went to Harris, and the actor expected to play the part throughout the entire film franchise. He initially hesitated to take the role due to his health, but Harris was encouraged by his young granddaughter. Harris perfectly embodied the exceptional wizard and Harrys mentor in the first two installments of the franchise.

Why Is Snape The Half Blood Prince

His father was a muggle. His father was neglectful and sometimes abusive, which may have contributed to Snape’s disdain for Muggles. At some point during his school years, he decided to reject his father’s name entirely, giving himself the moniker “The Half-Blood Prince” with his mother’s maiden name instead.

Why Does Dumbledore Die In A Way That Portrays Him As Weak

I have absolutely no intention of being sent to Azkaban. I could break out, of course but what a waste of time, and frankly, I can think of a whole host of things I would rather be doing.Dumbledore in the Order of the Phoenix

This, and many more instances, show us that Dumbledore was an immensely powerful wizard and was the only person Voldemort was afraid of.

However, Dumbledore chose to die at Snapes hand rather than suffering through the curse of Gaunts ring. This would leave the impression that this immensely powerful wizard could not defend himself against Snape and a couple of other Death Eaters.

Since the truth didnt come out until the end, this would leave those who admired him with the belief that Voldemorts forces are far more powerful than they thought, disheartening them and making them less inclined to fight back

Why would he choose to do this?
