Unexpected heroes are born , and some are lost in this truly epic showdown of good-versus-evil. It genuinely feels like anything can happen as Hogwarts Castle is reduced to rubble, and beloved characters become unwilling warriors . Although some fans take issue with it, the coda of Harry, Ron and Hermione 19 years later, completing the cycle by accompanying their own kids to Platform 9¾, is pitch perfect. After all theyve been through , these kids deserve a happy ending. And so do we.

This book is a fun romp through the fully established magical world that we all know and love. Rowling doesnt waste any time explaining the concepts she has created and developed up until now. She simply expects us to get it and enjoy the ride through her world. And while this book breaks free of the restraints caused by the predictable school year plot of the previous books, it also is hampered by this fact.
Until now, Rowling had established a bankable formula for her work, revolving around the magical mundanity of life at Hogwarts. Taking her cast of characters away from this setting does not play to her strengths, and it shows in the final book. However, there are some great moments as well, like the sword in the lake, and, of course, The Princes Tale.

Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince
Heres where director David Yates really started to use his deluminator. Just like the books, The Half Blood Prince was when Potter got darker than ever. Muggle murders as Death Eaters swarm the Millennium Bridge in London, a Death Eater attack on the Weasley home, a history of the young Tom Riddle and, yes, the horrific and tragic death of Dumbledore. *sob* How could Rowling do it to us? While Hogwarts is still reasonably safe, the peril that lies outside the gates is palpable.
Theres an enjoyably grown up theme here too. Teen hormones are everywhere – it seems to make sense to get with everyone in sight if youre about to be murdered by dark wizards – and the will they/wont they Harry/Ginny relationship is enjoyably handled amidst the madness. The Half Blood Prince also adds the brilliant Jim Broadbent to the cast as Professor Horace Slughorn, a pompous but good-hearted soul who once gave a young Voldemort some seriously risky information. As Harry and Dumbledore work together to find the various Horcruxes of Voldemorts soul, theres a truly thrilling narrative at work thats deftly handled by Yates. Its dark, its scary, and it knows it.
Is Harry Potter Books Better Than Movies
Because the truth is that the books are better, and people who only watch the movies are missing out on so much of the experience that is this wonderful series. Screenwriters, directors, and editors have to change a lot to bring a story from the page to the screen, and a lot gets lost in the process.

What You Need To Know
Parents of Harry Potter fans! Heres what you need to know before taking kids to the theater to see the eighth and final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
1. The movie is worth seeing in the theater rather than waiting for the DVD. We saw our screening in 3-D, but aside from the nifty Harry Potter 3-D glasses, I cant say that 3-D really added much to the experience of the film.
2. It is rated PG-13 for a reason. There is violence, there is death, there is tension, there is ugliness. There is a teeny bit of profanity . There is not lots of goreat least, no more so than in the other movies. If your children have already seen The Order of the Phoenix or Deathly Hallows Part 1 and enjoyed them, they will enjoy this movie. But if they had trouble with those movies, theyre probably not ready for this one.
3. It is indeed necessary to see the other movies in order fully to understandand therefore enjoyDeathly Hallows Part 2. My husband accompanied us to Part 1 in November, and, not having read the books, was clueless. If you havent seen the movies, I would suggest a Harry Potter marathon, then hightail it over to the theater to see Part 2 on the big screen.
8. This may be the best film in the series. If you have enjoyed the other films, you will absolutely not be disappointed. The acting is top-notch. The special effects are awesome without being overdone. The themes are moving.

Harry Potter Is Severely Overrated
As it goes in the Western canon, first came the old Testament raising humanity. Next came the New Testament, which saved humanity. Then came HARRY POTTER. At least thats what it appears like if you ask any Gen Y female, and most of the males too. J.K. Rowling s work inspired a generation to be brave and face their fears. It also created an extremely lucrative franchise to milk said generation. And honestly, I dont understand why.
Harry Potter is the most meh character and series of all time, especially when contrasted to its popularity. The boy who lived is a rather milque toast example of a character who is only special because the special thing happened to him, a victim of the chosen one trope. He goes through his story, being saved by a deus ex Machina here and there, grabs the McGuffins, and kills the big bad guy. And after all the excitement he and his wife settle down in a boring office job, essentially. Hes genuinely not that great of a guy either, he toys with his best friends younger sisters emotions, is a terrible date, and is kind of an angry dick.

As the Harry Potter series continues, it touches more on mature subjects as it introduces wizarding politics. Thus, this is the last film in the series that would maintain a PG status in the UK. This is the first time the series threatens to show a death on-screen , so its no surprise that the PG rating stuck even if neither of them end up dying in this film.
Other scenes that most likely contribute to the PG rating is mentions of Sirius alleged murderous rampage, Harry vowing to kill Sirius out of anger, dementors, Hermione punching Draco, the initial implication that Buckbeak died, and the concept of time travel, which may require an adult to explain to younger children.

Rewatching Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, its astonishing to realize how much they got right from the very beginning. I mean, casting this one couldnt have been easy. For the three leads, they needed not only talented child actors, but talented child actors who could commit to a further seven films, literally growing into their roles on a very-nearly yearly basis. Luckily, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were up to the task, serving as our guides in this utterly charming introduction to Hogwarts. Between the sumptuous design, the sweeping score and the assured adaptation of J.K. Rowlings source material, its hard to imagine a more solid foundation on which to build the series. More so than any of the films that followed, The Philosophers Stone succeeds in making magic look fun. From the visit to Ollivanders , to the Sorting Hat, to the first broomstick ride, Harrys initiation into the wizarding world is also our initiation, and we share in his sense of wonder at all of these incredible experiences, brought to life so beautifully on the big screen.

Im personally not sure why the MPA would lower the ratings of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince back down to a PG because I always thought that this part of the series was the darkest one of all. Aside from the fact that this is the film where Dumbledore dies, I found that scene where Dumbledore forces himself to drink the Potion of Despair and begs Harry to kill him to be the most disturbing.
Aside from that, its the film where the main characters explore more mature romantic relationships, including a scene where Ron is accidentally drugged by a love potion meant for Harry. Theres also a scene where Harry accidentally gives Draco a nearly fatal injury during their fight in the bathroom using the Sectumsepra spell.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them
Let’s face it, the first in the latest wizarding world series is an absolute joy and a worthy number six in our list of the best Harry Potter movies. Newt Scamander and his quest for those titular Fantastic Beasts doesnt just give us a background to the author of one of Harrys school books, but goes back to the age of a younger Grindelwald, the previous dark owner of the Elder wand. The happy maker here is a whole new magical world that weve never seen before as we explore American wizardry in 1920s New York. MACUSA, the US equivalent of the Ministry of Magic is introduced, the nefarious Second Salemer witch hunters surface, and we experience a very different culture where No-maj arent allowed to even make contact with wizards.
A deft blend of humour and darkness, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is carried by its excellent cast. Redmayne bumbles through New York as the nature loving Newt, Katherine Waterston is the entertainingly furious ex-auror Tina, and Alison Sudol is the adorably charming Queenie. Add in Dan Fogler as the No-maj baker who stumbled into the adventure in the bank and the Harry Potter movies suddenly evolve into child free zones where the possibilities are darker, even if there are Nifflers filling themselves with gold coins. You might even shed a tear.

The prelude to its more well known follow up and final chapter to the entire series, Deathly Hollows Part 1 is a marvelously well made movie. Its grander Im scale compared to anything seen in the series before this. It has action, drama, and look that you expect from a big, blockbuster of a movie. Yet, in a way, coming out of this movie its hard to shake that sense that the better half of this epic conclusion is in the next movie.
Right from the beginning of the film, Part 1 just feels bigger. Were out of the friendly confines of Hogwarts School and are thrown into a whirlwind of events that force the characters of Ron, Hermione and Harry on the run from snatchers death eaters and others. Honestly, most people complain about this movie being slow and drawn out, and Ill get to that soon. However, watching it this time, I forgot about how much action kicks off this movie. Arguably one of the best sequences in the whole series is his escape with Hagrid from his childhood residence. It was anything but a home!
And trust me, whats to come is well worth the wait.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 1 gets a 8/10
Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone
Philosopher’s Stone was an early installment in the series of Harry Potter video games, and while it certainly shows its age in terms of graphics and clumsy exposition, there is no doubt that this was just tons of fun.
The game can be rather challengings with some tough battle sequences that do take a fair bit of precision, and it also provides some incredible Quidditch gameplay in the form of a fantastic mini-game.
They did end up re-releasing this game after just two years with new voice actors and reworked models, but there aren’t crazy differences between the two, it is just a lot of fun to play.

Im a little biased as they say, because this sixth film is based on one of my favorite books in the series, and yet seems to omit the very things that make the book pop. We get almost no origins of Voldemort material and very little in terms of Snapes backstory, instead saving that for one long montage in the final picture. Moreover, and this is not necessarily a criticism (because it works for this adaptation, but the film painfully telegraphs what in the book was a jaw-dropping plot twist. Even with an overindulgence in hormonal hijinks, this one still works as a visual differentiation while Tom Feltons Malfoy shines as a young man tortured by the implications of actually doing evil as opposed to merely being evil.

Content That May Disturb Children

In addition to the violent scenes mentioned above, this movie contains some scenes that could scare or disturb children under eight. For example:
- The shadowy/silhouetted image of a cat transforms into a woman.
- Aunt Petunia and Dudley hold each other and scream hysterically as their house shakes and a storm of magical letters bursts out of the fireplace and swirls around them.
- Harry, Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and Dudley are in a small cabin. Someone bangs on the wooden door very loudly, then smashes it in. A very large, hairy, wild-looking man comes through the door.
- The movie features scary characters including goblins, a three-headed dog, a green scaly troll and a centaur.
- There is a flashback image of Voldemort murdering Harrys parents.
- Transparent images of ghosts float through the air and through walls at Hogwarts. One ghost almost pulls his own head off. The head stays attached by a thread of skin, with some blood and gore on the neck wound.
- Harry opens a magical book and a creepy face tries to push its way out while screaming.
- While doing detention in the forbidden forest, Harry and another boy come across a dead unicorn with a cloaked figure sucking its blood. We see a quick image of silver blood dripping from the sides of the mouth beneath the hood.
- Professor Quirrell unwraps his turban to reveal Voldemorts scary face pushing out of the back of his head.
