Which chocolate frog card does Ron have about 6 of? • Although the images of the people on the cards are usually referred to as “pictures”, letting one think they are magical photographs, but the fact that Albus Dumbledore‘s image wandered off on its own volition in the first book implies the people portrayed in the picture do not merely move on a set pattern but have a degree of intelligence, making the card pictures more similar to magical paintings than to magical photographs.
  • Although modern wizards such as Bertie Bott, Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter appear on cards, as do historical dark wizards such as Herpo the Foul and Merwyn the Malicious, modern dark wizards Gellert Grindelwald and Lord Voldemort do not. In the case of the latter two, it could be that the authors of the cards were aware of how offensive such cards may have been.
  • The appearance of Chocolate Frog Cards varies throughout the series. In the films, they are pentagonal and always dark blue or purple, a design also used in most other adaptations, such as the video games and most real-life versions of the cards. On Pottermore, however, the cards are shaped more like traditional trading cards, and each unique card is a different colour.
  • The pentagon appearance in the films was designed by Ruth Winick, prompted by Stuart Craig.
  • In the old version of Pottermore, users can collect cards throughout each chapter.
  • Regular Chocolate Frog Box

This is what the chocolate frog boxes look like that each of the cards seen on this page come in. As you can see, they are authentic to the boxes seen in the films. Youll get both a card and a huge slab of milk chocolate in the shape of a frog. Sadly, these frogs dont jump like the ones Harry eats, but maybe thats for the best, as I wouldnt want to worry about a piece of candy jumping around in my stomach!

Author J.K. Rowling introduced children all over the world to a magical treat called chocolate frogs in her first story, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone . We learned about them as Harry Potter did, during his first ride on the Hogwarts Express. Not only do the boxes contain a frog made of chocolate that has one good jump in them , but each box also has a card in it of a famous witch or wizard.

Muggles were finally able to collect their own cards when Universal Studios theme parks around the world and Warner Bros. Studio Tours in London, England, started selling them in 2010. The pictures in the stories all move, sometimes completely out of view, which is normal in the world Harry belonged to.

Unfortunately, the characters in the cards you can collect are not quite that mobile but they are lenticular, so they do move a bit. You can see each character change slightly when you move a card gently from side to side.

All pictures are mine, except for the pictures of the limited edition cards and comparison images. Thank you to Luis Cantos for giving me permission to use his picture. On a side note, it is surprisingly difficult to get a good photo of a lenticular card because of how it changes with movement. I assure you that these cards look much nicer in person than they do here.

its the cards you want. Each packs got a famous witch or wizard. I got 500 meself. Ron Weasley

When Chocolate Frogs made their debut in the Wizarding World with the Four Founders of Hogwarts, Universal could have stopped right there and been fine. They were already offering a unique product, and this was the only way guests could get any item featuring a Founder such as Helga Hufflepuff or Salazar Slytherin. The visualization of the Founders was introduced in the queue for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction, as the four have a conversation with each other via their moving paintings. At the time, none of the Founders were featured in any of the Harry Potter films . So these cards were already special. However, Universal wasnt done

We mentioned above that just a year later, Universal added into the mix a card based on Albus Dumbledore. This was a nice surprise, but several years later the floodgates were about to open

Now we have cards based on other characters that were seen in the films, such as Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Could Harry Have Contacted Dumbledore With A Chocolate Frog Card

Chapter 33 of Deathly Hallows makes it clear that Dumbledore has a portrait that shares his memories and chapter 6 of the first book shows us that Dumbledore’s portrait in the Chocolate Frog cards can come and go, just like a normal portrait.

Does this mean that all of Harry’s angst about wanting to contact Dumbledore in Deathly Hallows could’ve been solved by buying some chocolate?

    • I don’t think so? That would mean that there’s a single “Dumbledore entity” for every single portrait, chocolate frog card, photo, etc, etc, which seems… improbable.

No, Dumbledores chocolate frog card is a different depiction than his portrait. It is more of a fleeting snapshot which is still sentient in a smaller way, according to Wizarding World:

According to J.K. Rowling, the more powerful you are, the more real your portrait can be, and if you sit down with your portrait and spend more time with it, the more accurate a portrayal of yourself it will hold. This is why Albus Dumbledores portrait is so lifelike, while his Chocolate Frog card, which also holds his image, is more of a fleeting snapshot which is still sentient in a smaller way.

Its not shown that these cards can talk but if they did, I would expect them to be limited to catchphrases more than useful intelligence.

HUGE MYSTERY HARRY POTTER CHOCOLATE FROG UNBOXING

Albus Dumbledore is the Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is also renowned as the only wizard that Lord Voldemort fears.

How did he come to be such a powerful and respected member of the wizarding community?

    • 1Maybe because of his many life achievements such as 12 uses of dragons blood was it? I can’t really remember with Nicolas Flamel maybe?Jul 9 ’14 at 4:42
    • 1This question could answered by telling all of Dumbledore’s achievement’s. But I think this is a subjective answer that is answered mostly in the 7th book, when it tells of Dumbledore’s early life and how he was friends with and fought grindlewald. I think the 7th book and parts of the 6th tells us all we have to know of his success. Maybe you should reword it to say “What events of Dumbledore’s life was he highly credited for? I know that’s not really good, but the question right now seems really subjective.

According to Dumbledore’s Chocolate Frog Card

ALBUS DUMBLEDORE: Considered by many the greatest wizard of modern times, Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the Dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragons blood, and his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel. Professor Dumbledore enjoys chamber music and ten-pin bowling.

Given the nature of the Chocolate Frog Card, it seems likely that it mentions the achievements he is best known for.

    • Alchemy
    • Dueling
    • Solving social problems
