The Goblet Of Fire Hurdle

HARRY Did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?!

According to the new rules of the Triwizard Tournament, Dumbledore drew an Age Line around the Goblet of Fire, to prevent anyone under seventeen from entering. Harry was as surprised as everyone else when his name came out as a fourth Triwizard champion. Only later did he find out that it was Mad-Eye Moody who put his name in the Goblet of Fire, under the name of a different school. But if Harry had really wanted to enter the Tournament, could he somehow have figured out a way around Dumbledores Age Line?

Fred and George Weasley attempted it with an Ageing Potion and, as Hermione predicted, it didnt work. But what about if Hermione had really put her mind to it and helped Harry enter the Triwizard Tournament? Could she have used her famous logic to outsmart even Albus Dumbledore? After all, Mad-Eye Moody did, and he wasnt even the real Mad-Eye.One hurdle might have been Hermione not being all too keen on breaking rules. But then she did brew Polyjuice Potion in her second year at Hogwarts, breaking in her words about fifty school rules.

For the sake of argument, lets say Harry managed to persuade Hermione to help him, and as a Hogwarts champion, he progressed to the first task

How Often Is The Goblet Of Fire Tournament Held

This tournament has been going on for the last 700 years by, Hogwarts Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons. It is held every five years and was just brought back by Dumbledore a while back. The tournament consists of three challenges that test the students in many aspects, the first challenge is a test against a dragon.

Barty Crouch Jr Used A Powerful Charm To Put Harry’s Name In The Goblet Of Fire

The Triwizard Tournament traditionally featured one student from each of the three schools in attendance. That trio of Champions wasn’t allowed to be under the age of 17 based on the age spell that Dumbledore put in place. Despite those restrictions, Harry’s name was chosen as the fourth Champion from the Goblet of Fire, the impartial judge used to select contestants. While staff and fellow students believed that Harry may have put his own name in the Goblet of Fire, it was actually Barty disguised as Professor Moody. Barty used a powerful Confundus Charm to confuse the Goblet of Fire so that it would select Harry’s name as the fourth contestant from an unspecified school.

The plan worked since Harry followed through the competition against Cedric Diggory, Fleur Delacour, and Viktor Krum. Barty, meanwhile, continued guiding Harry through the three tasks before successfully turning the Triwizard Cup into a Portkey. Voldemort was able to restore his physical body before Barty intended to kill Harry to solidify himself as one of the Dark Lord’s most loyal followers. Instead, Dumbledore and other members of the staff caught on to Barty’s ploy and rescued the real Mad-Eye, allowing for his presence in the succeeding Harry Potter installments. Rather than serve a long-term punishment, Barty was killed by a Dementor’s Kiss.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a fantasy novel written by British author J. K. Rowling and the fourth novel in the Harry Potter series. It follows Harry Potter, a wizard in his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the mystery surrounding the entry of Harry’s name into the Triwizard Tournament, in which he is forced to compete.

The book was published in the United Kingdom by Bloomsbury and in the United States by Scholastic. In both countries, the release date was 8 July 2000. This was the first time a book in the series was published in both countries at the same time. The novel won a Hugo Award, the only Harry Potter novel to do so, in 2001. The book was adapted into a film, released worldwide on 18 November 2005, and a video game by Electronic Arts.

The Chamber Of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second film in the Harry Potter series, and was released with a corresponding wave of sets in 2002. The plot follows Harry’s second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, during which a series of messages on the walls on the school’s corridors warn that the “Chamber of Secrets” has been opened and that the “heir of Slytherin” will kill all pupils who do not come from purely-magical families. These threats are followed by attacks which leave residents of the school “petrified”. Throughout the year, Harry and his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger investigate the attacks. Harry is confronted by Lord Voldemort as a kid, who is attempting to regain full power.

Why Did Igor Karkaroff Enter The Great Hall

In a scene in the movie version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, we are shown the Great Hall and the Goblet of Fire, and then Igor Karkaroff, the headmaster of Durmstrang, entering the room and closing the gate.

I get this was added so it made Karkaroff look suspicious, but is there any logical explanation to it? It also indicates that he was the one that put Harry’s name in the Goblet, but it wasn’t him. How can this make any sense?

  • 5There has also been online speculation that it was actually Barty Crouch Jr using his polyjuice potion this time for Karkaroff instead of Moody. Thus even if he was noticed slipping into the Great Hall that night, it would be Karkaroff who would get the suspicion rather than “Moody”, since Barty Jr would not want a lot of investigation into his impersonation of Moody. I personally thought I caught the slightest glimpse of a “shift” in Karkaroff’s form just as the door closed, but its been awhile and a clip does not appear to be online.Oct 29 ’16 at 1:39

The Triwizard Tournament And Death

Yes. After a while he began to fight the Imperius Curse just as I had done. There were periods when he knew what was happening. My master decided it was no longer safe for my father to leave the house. He forced him to send letters to the Ministry instead. He made him write and say he was ill. But Wormtail neglected his duty. He was not watchful enough. My father escaped. My master guessed that he was heading for Hogwarts. My father was going to tell Dumbledore everything, to confess. He was going to admit that he had smuggled me from Azkaban.

A short time later, however, Crouch started to resist the Imperius Curse, just like his son had done during his time under Crouch’s control. Voldemort, fearing that people would become suspicious, ordered him to stay home and write letters. These letters said that he was sick and this resulted in his duties as a Tournament judge being primarily carried out by Percy Weasley. This brought suspicion to some people who knew that Barty would never take a day off work simply because of some unexplained illness, but no investigation was made.

While Harry went to get him, Barty Jnr arrived and stunned Viktor Krum. Barty Jnr then murdered his father and transfigured the corpse into a bone, burying it in Rubeus Hagrid‘s garden.

The 1994 Triwizard Tournament

Harry, did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire
Finally, I wish to impress upon any of you wishing to compete that this tournament is not to be entered into lightly. Once a champion has been selected by the Goblet of Fire, he or she is obliged to see the tournament through to the end. The placing of your name in the goblet constitutes a binding, magical contract. There can be no change of heart once you have become a champion. Please be very sure, therefore, that you are wholeheartedly prepared to play before you drop your name into the goblet. Now, I think it is time for bed. Good night to you all.

Dumbledore introducing the Goblet of Fire

Albus Dumbledore drew an Age Line around the Goblet during the 1994 Tournament to prevent students under the age of seventeen from entering their name. However, the Goblet was fooled into thinking there were more than three schools competing by a powerful Confundus Charm cast on it by Barty Crouch Jnr, disguised as Alastor Moody.

This resulted in the selection of a fourth Champion, Harry Potter, into the Tournament alongside Cedric Diggory, Fleur Delacour, and Viktor Krum. The flames of the Goblet went out and would not ignite again until the next tournament, much to Igor Karkaroff‘s frustration, who wanted to reselect champions until each school had two representatives to even things out. It was later revealed that Crouch was working for Lord Voldemort as part of a plan to use Harry’s blood to revive the Dark Lord.

That One Scene In The ‘harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire’ Film That Is Totally Inaccurate

Its the 10-year anniversary of the most gigantic error of the Potter film universe. Okay, not to be a downer, but so many Potter-fanatics are still bummed out about this one, we couldnt let the day pass without mentioning it .

You might remember this one, from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Its the scene where Harry Potters name comes from the binding list of Tri-Wizard Tournament competitors and Dumbledore RUNS down the stairs, directly at Harry, and grabs him, asking , HARRY! DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?!?!?!?!? And effectively gave everyone, including Harry, the scare of our lives.

Whats so wrong with that, you ask? Well, heres how that scene goes in the book.

Did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire, Harry? asked calmly. These are the words J.K. Rowling actually wrote. And yet, there was nothing calm at all about how actor Michael Gambon delivered the line. Composure? Calm? Not so much!

As MTV point out, Gambon played Dumbledore much differently than Richard Harris, who played the character in the first two movies, until his death. Why? Apparently he had a policy against reading the source material.

Poor guy, hope hes caught up on the greatest book series of our time now that the movies are a wrap!

Harry Potter: How Moody Put Harrys Name In The Goblet Of Fire

Mad-Eye Moody managed to alter the Triwizard Tournament in Goblet of Fire by adding Harry Potter as a competitor, but it took an intricate plan.

Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody managed to alter the Triwizard Tournament in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by adding the titular figure as a competitor, but it took a well-orchestrated plan. Brendan Gleeson made his franchise debut in the fourth installment of the film series based on the novel series by author J.K. Rowling. Although Mad-Eye served as a key member for the remainder of the Harry Potter franchise, he wasn’t exactly himself in his introductory appearance. In fact, another figure was impersonating him all along.

Mad-Eye was a legendary Auror and a member of the original Order of the Phoenix before accepting a teaching position at Hogwarts prior to the events of Goblet of Fire. Albus Dumbledore hired the wizard as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, seeing as he was skilled in battling the specific method of magic. During his first year as the DADA professor, Mad-Eye demonstrated the three Unforgivable Curses in front of his students. He also guided Harry Potter during the Triwizard Tournament, but he ended up having ulterior motives.

Mad, am I? We’ll see! We’ll see who’s mad, now that the Dark Lord has returned, with me at his side! He is back, Harry Potter, you did not conquer him and now I conquer you!

Barty getting interrogated by Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, and Severus Snape

When Harry escaped the graveyard and returned to Hogwarts, Barty ushered him away from the panicking crowd to interrogate him about Voldemort’s return. He revealed to Harry that it was he all along who guided him through the Tournament he put his name in the Goblet of Fire, got Hagrid to show the dragons, explained the Golden egg to Cedric knowing he would tell Harry, bewitched Viktor Krum and stunned Fleur Delacour. Barty then planned on killing Harry and being honoured above the rest of Voldemort’s followers.

But before he could, Albus, accompanied by Minerva and Severus, fired a Stunning Spell at him, having realised that he was not Alastor when he removed Harry from his sight his one slip-up. After the Polyjuice Potion wore off, Barty confessed everything to Albus under the influence of Veritaserum, a strong truth potion.

However, before he could testify before the Wizengamot, Barty suffered a fate worse than death, receiving the Dementor’s Kiss by a Dementor that Minister for MagicCornelius Fudge brought with him. Cornelius regarded Barty as a raving lunatic, believing that he merely thought that he was acting for Voldemort and thus was not convinced that the Dark Lord was back.
