Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
At the beginning of the third novel, Dumbledore is forced to accept Dementors onto his school’s grounds for the protection of his students from Sirius Black, a supposed murderer and accessory to murder, who had escaped from Azkaban. It Has A Long And Bloody History

Loxias ended the reign of the fearsome warlock Barnabas Deverill, only to be defeated himself by an unknown person who presumably took the wand for their own. In the twentieth century, the wizards Gregorovitch, Gellert Grindelwald and Severus Snape were all slaughtered in Lord Voldemorts pursuit of the Elder Wand.
As Dumbledore stated in Tales of Beedle the Bard, Those who are knowledgeable about wandlore will agree that wands do indeed absorb the expertise of those who use them. With the volume of dark deeds attributed to the Elder Wand, that is a terrifying thought.

In the aftermath of the Triwizard Tournament and Voldemort’s return, Harry possessed magical knowledge and experience that could be said to significantly exceed that of his fellow students. Known Masters Of The Elder Wand
The Elder Wand was the most powerful wand in existence. Its owner could have used it to cast spells more powerful than any believed to be magically possible. For example, Harry Potter was able to repair his regular Phoenix feather wand using the Elder Wand in 1998, even though broken wands were held, by experts such as Garrick Ollivander, to be damaged beyond magical repair, and despite not having any training in wandlore. Both Ollivander and Voldemort believed that the wand’s legendary powers is the only one capable of overpowering the bond between the latter and Harry, which created such an effect that Harry managed to overcome Voldemort’s attempt to kill him.

When Lord Voldemort used the Elder Wand without mastering it he claimed that the wand only unleashed his regular level of magic and not the unbeatable effects it was rumoured to possess. It’s unknown if the wand would work this way for another who hasn’t mastered it though, as Voldemort has used the wands of others in the past with no handicap, it’s likely that this is his own power rather than that of the Elder Wand.
It did have one redeeming quality like all other wands, however: it refused to harm or kill its master nor those under sacrificial protection.

Rowling used several chapters in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to reveal two major details concerning Dumbledore: his early life and his death.
