Harry Potter Killed Cedric Diggory

Cedric Diggory Edit |Harry Potter

Bear with me here.

In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the titular character and a handsome Hufflepuff boy named Cedric Diggory compete in the Triwizard Tournament. Long story short, they end up walking headfirst into Lord Voldemort’s evil plan and spoiler alert, one of them ends up dead.

It has long been accepted that Peter Pettigrew aka Wormtail kills Cedric on the orders of Voldemort, and the movie adaptation of JK Rowling’s fourth book runs with this without question. But I’m pretty sure we’ve all had it wrong since 2000. I’m pretty sure there’s one suspect we all over looked: Harry Potter. Let’s examine the evidence.

Harry had both the motivation and the opportunity to kill Cedric.

Now, if this were a true crime podcast, you’d be expecting that the cops would have arrested Harry right on the spot. But they didn’t do that. Even though all the evidence points in Harry’s direction, they’re prepared to let this one go without any proper investigation.

This is doubtlessly in no small part to Harry’s status as a protectee of Albus Dumbledore who, on multiple occasions, has allowed Harry to break the rules of Hogwarts, and even allowed him to go back in time the year previous. Dumbledore is not impartial when it comes to any matter concern Harry, and once again he uses his influence to shield Harry.

But I know what you’re thinking. JK Rowling tells us that Wormtail kills Cedric on Voldemort’s orders. But here’s the thing.

She doesn’t.

The Tiny Role You Never Knew Robert Pattinson Took Before Harry Potter

Before he was the sparkly vampire boyfriend of Bella Swan in “Twilight,”Robert Pattinson was already winning over hearts as Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.” But while the “Harry Potter” franchise put the future Batman actor on Hollywood’s radar, it wasn’t actually his first role. Prior to landing the role of Cedric, Pattinson had a tiny role in an entirely different film, but alas, his part was cut from the final version of the movie.

And no, we’re not talking about “Sword of Xanten,” Pattinson fans. Hardcore fans of the popular actor likely know about his appearance in the 2004 German miniseries. After all, it’s the first project he appeared onscreen in before he picked up a broomstick as Cedric. But in between his little-seen miniseries role and “Harry Potter,” the young actor took a brief detour to appear in director Mira Nair’s 2004 adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray’s famed novel “Vanity Fair.”

The lavish period drama boasted an all-star cast including Reese Witherspoon, James Purefoy, Romola Garai, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, and Gabriel Byrne. However, despite an abundance of talented actors and the careful direction of Nair, the movie received middling reviews from critics . Still, given the movie’s high profile cast, it had the potential to be a major moment in Pattinson’s young career. Unfortunately his role was not only cut, no one took the time to tell him he was no longer in the film.

Mrs Weasley Julie Walters

Everyones favorite Wizarding World mom ended her Harry Potter career on a high note. Molly Weasley survived the final film, and had one of the most iconic lines in the series, Not my daughter, you bitch! Unsurprisingly, Walters acting career never faltered post-HP. She continued to star in many UK-centric projects including The Hollow Crown, both Paddington films, Brooklyn, , as well as both Mamma Mia films.

Cedric Was The Possible Descendant Of Eldrtich Diggory

While there is no guarantee to this, it’d be strange for Rowling to give a former Minister for Magic the same last name as another extremely important character. Eldritch Diggory was Minister for Magic between 1733 and 1747. He was extremely popular with everyone in the wizarding community and was the first Minister to establish an Auror recruitment program.

While working on figuring out a way to improve conditions at Azkaban and get rid of dementors for good, Eldritch Diggory died suddenly of dragon pox.

Many fans believe that Cedric and Eldritch were related. Cedric has a good heart and was also extremely popular, just like Eldritch. Cedric’s death is also one of the main things that leads to Dumbledore’s Army being created. There is also a strong connection between the DA and the Auror recruitment program that Eldritch created– both focus on defense against the dark arts.

Whether or not these two are related can be up for discussion, but it seems like the proof is already in the pudding given all the commonalities.

How Old Was Robert Pattinson When He Filmed Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

Pattinson, who is now 35, was only 18 years old when he was cast as Diggory. The role found him acting directly opposite one of the biggest young stars in the world, Daniel Radcliffe, who was 15 at the time. Pattinsons smile and easygoing manner made him just as likable on screen as his character is in the book, which is why audiences were dreading the tragic moment at the end of the film when Diggory would inevitably be killed by Peter Pettigrew.

Despite his characters untimely end, Pattinson was just getting started. After Potter, he acted in the psychological thriller The Haunted Airman, the one-off television drama film The Bad Mothers Handbook, and the independent dramedy How to Be. Proving that he could handle a variety of cinematic genres, he was also cast as the artist Salvador Dalí in Paul Morrisons Little Ashes.

His breakout role came when Pattinson was tapped to play the sexy, enigmatic vampire Edward Cullen opposite Kristen Stewarts Bella Swan in Twilight. The novel that inspired the film was so wildly popular that Pattinson was initially hesitant to take the role, but when the film was released, his performance was praised by critics despite lackluster reviews for the film itself.

Playing Edward Cullen In ‘twilight’

What followed was a shot at the film Twilight. His audition for the role of Edward Cullen, a century-old vampire in love, took place in the bedroom of the movie’s director, Catherine Hardwicke. Pattinson wowed both Hardwicke and his future co-star, Kristen Stewart, with his performance. “Everybody came in doing something empty and shallow and thoughtless,” Stewart told GQ. “But Rob understood that it wasn’t a frivolous role.”

Cedric: The Reduced Comparisons

For many years, Harry Potter and Twilight fans confronted each other, placing Pattinson in the middle. They made a limited comparison of the actor’s work excluding much of his work.

If this comparison is made only between Twilight and Harry Potter, the latter has to be the winner. The winner can be obtained with the balance between the box office and the score of sites like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb, which are good reflections of the quality of the films as well as fan reception.

Argus Filch David Bradley

Cedric Diggory

David Bradley is another veteran actor who has the honor of having been in all but one Harry Potter film, the first Deathly Hallows. Hes been in many big name projects including The Strain, Doctor Who, Broadchurch, and playing one of the most hated characters in Game of Thrones. Cedric Made An Appearance In Puffs

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Cedric Diggory’s Death Scene Part 2

If you hadn’t heard of Puffs, then you’re completely missing out. Puffs is an off-Broadway play about everyone’s least beloved Hogwarts house: Hufflepuff. Puffs calls itself “a play for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.” While Harry and Gryffindor might have received all the attention back in the day, this musical focuses on those who aren’t really heroes.

However, when you think about it, Cedric is kind of a hero. Therefore, he isn’t the true main focus of the show, though he is the best Hufflepuff there is. He can be seen on stage as the student who works very hard to ensure that Hufflepuff places 3rd in the House cup.

Puffs is a pretty hilarious and entertaining show that proves the legitimacy of the Hufflepuff house– just because they’re quiet, doesn’t mean they should go ignored.
