Im now being informed by some sources close to Warner Bros. Pictures that one of the properties they are looking to adapt for the silver screen is Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.
Heres what one of the sources had to say on the matter:
WB is currently developing a movie version of Harry Potter And The Cursed Child. Theyre also looking to get the original cast back: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.

For whatever reason, rumors of a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie seem to crop up every once in a while. In September of 2019, J.K. The Cursed Child has many faults. Though Rowling influenced the story, Jack Thorne wrote the play. As such, the words in the production lack certain magic found throughout the books. Unfortunately, Thornes Cursed Child would make an infuriating movie for fans, as it completely misses the original books main characters. For instance, in Rowlings books, Ron is a hot-headed but lovably loyal friend. In The Cursed Child, hes a buffoon, often used to get a laugh with forgettable jokes. Similarly, Hermione Granger, a headstrong and talented wizard in Rowlings books, is reduced to a bitter and hateful grouch through time-traveling hijinks. Additionally, the story gives Voldemort a child and makes Cedric Diggory become a Death Eater. With such wild left turns from the books, The Cursed Child is criticized as bad fan fiction. A live performance full of special effects makes the Broadway play worthwhile, but nice effects arent enough to sell a lousy movie in 2021.

The news comes shortly after reports that HBO Max are allegedly developing a Harry Potter series.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child fans, we have some exciting news. The hit play is allegedly coming to the big screen.
Ever since Harry Potter and the Cursed Child debuted on the West End in 2016, there has been speculation as to whether it would be adapted into a movie. The show became an instant stage success and there are now productions of it in the US, Australia and Canada as well as the UK. People still can’t get enough of the world of Harry Potter all these years later.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally intended only to be a play but now it looks like it could become a film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waner Bros. Pictures are in talks to turn Harry Potter and the Cursed Child into a film or a series of movies. Following a recent conference hosted by WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar, the news outlet reported that “There’s talk Warner Bros. could be developing a new tentpole based on the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play.”

The best part? He’d be able to cast the franchise’s three original cast members: Daniel Radcliffe , Rupert Grint , and Emma Watson .

Star Wars really started to be great again when J.J. made the film and we had all the original cast back. I think that would be the same situation for Harry Potter fans. To able to actually see these adult actors now back in these roles? Oh, yeah. SYFY will celebrate 20 years of the Potter movie that started it all with a marathon of all eight films starting next Tuesday, Nov. 16. A third Fantastic Beasts movie subtitled The Secrets of Dumbledore arrives on the big screen next spring.

Will The Harry Potter Cast Return
If the next Warner Bros. film set in the Wizarding World is indeed an adaptation of The Cursed Child, then in all probability, our beloved cast should and MUST return.
Though the HP Book Series and the HP Movie Series debate is a long standing one, I think all Potterheads can agree that Daniel Radcliffe has become the face of The Boy Who Lived, one of the most iconic characters of English literature and popular culture today.
So even if youre one of those people who is not a big fan of the films and would rather go with the books, it is hard to imagine literally anyone except Radcliffe in that role. In fact, I cannot and refuse to imagine anyone but Rupert Grint as Ronald Weasley and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger.
Anyways, there is indeed potential and enough chance for the original cast to reprise their roles in a potential film adaptation of The Cursed Child, since the original play features Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco and Professor McGonagall is also pretty much there.
I would say the return of the original cast would actually be all the more reason people would want to watch this potential film, because otherwise it will be difficult for those of us who has grown up reading and watching HP to be able to relate to the universe.
