Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban Set In 1993/94

The Prisoner Of Azkaban is not one of those lesser Harry Potter films, though, and again, follows the same school year to school year structure as the previous two films while also taking the entire series in a new direction.

With Alfonso Cuarón at the helm, this movie has a darker tone and begins a trend of Potter films becoming more mature and more assured in their craft. Save for that bizarre final shot, the movie is gorgeous, well-acted, and many will argue the very best of the movie series.

With Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone set to launch in China today, theres a pretty decent chance that the first chapter in Warner Bros. generational mega-hit franchise will earn just enough to push it past the $1 billion mark in unadjusted global earnings. So, to mark the occasion, I ranked the eight Daniel Radcliffe/Emma Watson/Rupert Grint-starring Harry Potter films in ascending order of global grosses, from the lowest to the highest, with a dash of relevant box office trivia. Also, just for fun, I listed each films respective yearly ranking as well as where it stood in the all-time global grossers list at the time of its release. Weekend Estimates: Fantastic Beasts Makes Fantastic

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is doing everything Warner Bros. could have wished for this weekend, posting a lively $75 million opening in the US, hitting $143.3 million internationally for a global opening over $200 million, and getting a A CinemaScore that should give it positive word of mouth going into Thanksgiving. For a franchise reboot, thats a lot of reasons to be happy, although its opening is well below the openings enjoyed by the original Harry Potter franchise. Lego Creator: Harry Potter

Two sandbox games were released as part of the Lego Creator series: Lego Creator: Harry Potter and Creator: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets . Both games allow the player to build their own sets in a virtual world based on the Lego Harry Potter theme, and interact with their constructions by taking control over minifigures or creatures that have been added to the world by the player.

Weekend Estimates: Breaking Dawn Posts 8th

The beginning of the end for the Twilight franchise is here, and, as expected, big money is being made by Lionsgate/Summit. While this installment doesn’t look like it will break franchise records, Lionsgate is predicting a $141.3 million opening weekend, which will be the 8th-best of all time, assuming it holds up. New Moon will most likely remain the top opener for the franchise with $142.8 million, although it will be a close-run thing. Twilight will most likely end up the 5th-highest-grossing franchise at the domestic box office, behind only the “box office gods”, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Batman and James Bond.More…

Lego Harry Potter Collection

In June 2009, it was officially announced by Lego that a video game, Lego Harry Potter: Years 14, was in production and released in June 2010.Lego Harry Potter: Years 57 was released in November 2011. The video games were released for the PlayStation 4 on October 21, 2016, as part of the Lego Harry Potter Collection, and was also released for the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on October 30, 2018.

The crossover toys-to-life game Lego Dimensions developed by Traveller’s Tales features content based on both the original Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. A “team pack” includes an additional level that recreates the events of the original film and adds Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort as a playable characters. A “story pack” offers an extended six-level story campaign retelling the events of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and includes Newt Scamander as a playable character. For some critics, thats a worrisome development, suggesting that adults are too dull and stupid to appreciate books actually written for adults. But there are plenty of reasons for a grown person to enjoy Harry Potter.

The Harry Potter books combine the intricate plotting of a mystery with the sweep and scope of epic fantasy and the intimacy and character development of a classic boarding school narrative. The result is purely pleasurable to read at any age: The puzzlebox mystery plotting keeps the pages turning propulsively forward, the fantastic mythology gives the world scope and magic and joy, and the boarding school structure makes the characters warm and familiar and charming.It also makestheir eventual death and trauma deeply affecting.

Its true that Rowlings prose is best described as workmanlike and competent if the reasonyou read is solely to enjoy perfectly balanced and polished sentences, you may be best served elsewhere. But if you are an adult who can imagine reading for more than one reason , the Harry Potter books become enormously appealing.

Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry

Alnwick Castle, Northumberland.

The iconic facade of Hogwarts was filmed in quite a few different locations and sets. Remember where Harry was taught how to fly on his broomstick for the Quidditch game? This and almost all other shots that featured the amazing external view of the school were filmed at Alnwick Castle, which is located in northeast England.

The Gloucester Cathedral was also used for some of these exterior shots, which is located, crazily enough, in Gloucestershire, England.

Home Market Releases For March 12th 2019

Its not a good week on the home market. There are some big releases, like Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, but none of them are good. There are a couple of contenders for Pick of the Week, but the The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends: The Complete Series DVD is a re-release at a more reasonable price, while it is worth waiting to get the The Miseducation of Cameron Post: Special Edition Blu-ray. Weekend Estimates: Man Of Steel Posts Biggest June Weekend

2013 has been a nervous time for Warner Bros.. After six straight years as the number one or number two domestic distributor, the studio’s main franchise breadwinners, Batman, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and The Hangover are all coming to an end or already played out. They are running in third place for the year to date, and badly need a new money spinner if they are to avoid lean times in 2015 and beyond. Contest: Game Of Chance

There are three wide releases, but only two of them have any chance of becoming more than a midlevel hit. Free Birds is a digitally animated family film that has a very timely release, but it is also a second-tier CG animated film. Ender’s Game is a $110 million film based on a book aimed at young adults. It is yet another film trying to tap into the vacuum left behind by Harry Potter. I don’t think either of them will be big hits, but one of them has to be the target film. I think Free Birds will have better legs, but that Ender’s Game will have a better opening. As such, it is the target film for this week’s box office prediction contest. In order to win, one must simply predict the opening weekend box office number for Ender’s Game. Whoever comes the closest to predicting the film’s opening 3-day weekend box office , regardless if they go over or not, will win a copy of The Conjuring on Blu-ray Combo Pack.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

The much-anticipated ending for the saga was initially thought of as a single movie. However, the production ended up splitting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into two parts.

The movies were shot simultaneously between February 2009 and June 2010.

The first part was released in November 2010 and covered the last book until Chapter 24, when Voldemort regains the Elder Wand.

While many fans criticized the decision, almost all actors supported cutting the movie into two parts to correctly present the ending arc without rushing its pace or leaving out essential scenes.

Daniel Radcliffe was 20/21 years old when filming his scenes for The Deathly Hallows. In contrast, Harry became an adult in the wizarding world at just 17 years old near the start of the film.

Rupert Grint was 21/22 as he was recording his scenes for this movie, making him 4 years older than Ron, who is 17/18 years old.

Emma Watson is just a year older than Hermione at this point, Emma is 19/20 years old, while Hermione is 18/19 years old.

Draco was supposed to be 17/18 years old for the first part of the final book, but Tom Felton was already 22/23 when filming his scenes.

Neville Longbottom is also 17/18 years old for the Deathly Hallows book, while Matthew Lewis is 20/21 when filming. That makes him three years older than his fictional counterpart!
