It seems clear from his context that, despite Harrison Ford’s cameo in “Skywalker,” Columbus is talking more about “The Force Awakens,” which did help make “Star Wars” one of the great comeback stories of the 2010s. Before things started to unravel back to the disappointments and divisions of the prequel era, that is.
Like “Star Wars,” “The Lord of the Rings,” and “Game of Thrones,” the “Harry Potter” franchise has already gone the prequel route with the “Fantastic Beasts” spin-offs. That series is helmed by David Yates, who directed the last four of eight “Harry Potter” movies. Set 19 years later after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child begins with 37-year-old parents Harry, Ron and Hermione seeing their children off to Hogwarts at Platform 9 3/4. The play continues Harry Potters story through his son, Albus, following Albus Severus Potter as he uncovers secrets from his fathers past in a time-travel adventure. The motorbike that young Sirius Black gave Hagrid to take Harry to Dumbledore and the Dursleys figured prominently in the opening pages of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. It’s also an important part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, where Harry rides it to escape Voldemort’s clutches during the Battle of the Seven Potters.
After the war, Hagrid gave Harry Sirius motorbike, as his godfather would have wanted him to have it.
