Do You Have Any Tips For Using Interactive Wands
Magic can be challenging at times for even the most experienced witches and wizards, and sometimes Muggles using wands can be a little tricky. The good news is that it usually takes just a few times before you succeed with your spell. And, if you ry and try but still need help there are plenty of theme park workers who are more than happy to help you out.Here are a few tips that my daughter and I learned when using our interactive wands:
- Stand on or just behind the plaque.
- Use small wand gestures, not wild or large ones.
- If the plaque doesn’t show you how to use your wand then hold it up and keep it still until something happens .
Take The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter Home With You
- 8th Jul 2019
If youve visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and found yourself in possession of an interactive magic wand as a souvenir, then youll no doubt be wondering by now, What do I do with it at home though?
While the wand was great for setting off window displays at the park itself, it now sits dusty and forgotten upon a shelf. But it still has life left in it let Jasmeet Singh show you how.
You Can Purchase Wands At Different Shops
Ollivander’s is the most obvious place to get your wand, but in the likelihood that the shop fills up quickly, there are other places you can get yours. There is;Gregorovitch’s;small stand just inside Diagon alley over to the right. Theres also a small kiosk in Hogsmeade directly across from the Hogwarts castle. And if youre really impatient, you can always order your wand online. The prices are pretty stagnant throughout, and the packaging is explicitly the same. So really, youll be saving time by purchasing your wand before you get to the park.

Oh Those Harry Potter Interactive Wands
Most every Harry Potter fan knows about Hogmeads Ollivanders Wand Shop, where you can buy movie replica wands for yourself or your little wizard. What most dont know is Diagon Alley also has an Ollivanders, and they are selling the all-new Harry Potter interactive wands.
Plan on budgeting an extra $45 for your Diagon Alley experience because these little sticks cast magic spells that will take you on a multi-park map-guided hunt for magic medallions. These medallions give you directions for each of the magic spells that once done properly, interact with the parks props.
Once you find a medallion, it guides you on how to wave that magic wand, and voila! Something cool happens in front of you! Theres no rhyme or reason to their layout, just a toad load of fun!

Can You Bring Wands Into Universal Studios
Yes, you may bring wands into Universal Studios nothing is stopping you from doing this. Still, if its an interactive one, it has to be a Universal Studios-approved wand otherwise, it may not be compatible with the magic points.
The Ollivanders experience is pretty much half the charm, so you may want to consider waiting until you get there. That being said, if you bought it from Ollivanders and already got the experience, you may bring it with no problems the next time you go to Universal Studios.;

Getting Chosen At Ollivanders Wand Shop
If you plan on buying an interactive wand, I highly recommend going to the Ollivanders Wand Shop where you can be a part of the wand show. Its a very intimate and relaxing experience . Here you are brought back in very small groups, led down a long hall into an old room with shelves upon shelves of wands. One person from the group gets chosen at random to have a wand magically selected for them.
Watch the Little Fairytale Traveler as hes chosen!
The Little Fairytale Traveler was in luck and was chosen for this magical experience! A mother couldnt be more proud! I must say, watching my 5-year-old watch in wonder as a wand was magically selected just for him was beyond enchanting. He was so excited and so charmed! It was a very memorable experience for both he and I.
The Little was pretty stoked to get his interactive wand. The whole experience was so magical!
How To Use Interactive Wizarding World Wands
Congrats! You were selected in the Ollivander’s show OR you talked your frog family into buying your very own wand. Now the fun begins!
Your interactive wand comes with a map that shows the locations and spells around Hogsmeade. Wander around the village, and you’ll find gold markers on the ground in front of shop windows that show you where to stand. Following the ground markers is way less cumbersome than following the map. Plus a few spells do not even appear on the map!
Here’s how spell casting works: Make your way over to a marker our favorite one is by Dominic Maestro’s. Stand on the marker and look at the motion that’s indicated on it. Point your wand at the window and say the spell “Ventus” ; and wave your wand. If you do it correctly, some magic will happen. This particular one sets off instruments and flying sheets of music.

Where Can I Buy An Interactive Wand
You can buy interactive wands all around Universal Orlando, however I highly recommend you go to Ollivanders to purchase your interactive wand. There is an Ollivanders shop in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade village.
Pro tip: The Ollivanders in Diagon Alley seems to have a shorter wait than the one in Hogsmeade.
Ollivanders is so much more than just a shop at Universal. There is a full show at Ollivanders that brings the magic to life. Groups are ushered into a small room stacked with thousands of precariously perched wand boxes on each wall.
Once everyone is inside the room, the wand keeper chooses one witch or wizard for a wand fitting. The selected person then tries out spells with several wands until just the right wand chooses the wizard.
Weve seen this show many times, but still love the dark ambiance and interactive show. If you are lucky enough to be chosen for the wand fitting, you are presented the wand but are under no obligation to buy it. If you dont want the wand just return it to any clerk at the store.
After the show is complete, you are ushered into Ollivanders where you can peruse the various wands available for purchase. There are interactive wands that look like those of popular characters like Voldemort, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and more. Or you can choose an interactive wand not featured in the movies based on the type of wood used to make it. Some examples are birch, ivy, and willow, plus there are many more options.
Where Do You Buy Wands In Harry Potter World

You can purchase a Universal Studios interactive wand at Ollivanders in Hogsmeade , at the wand cart on the path to Hogwarts, at the other Ollivanders in Diagon Alley , or at Wands by Gregorovitch in the Carkitt Market park of Diagon Alley.

Final Thoughts On Wizarding World Of Harry Potter Interactive Wands
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando has lots of fun rides, shops, and activities that make you feel like part of the story. However, if you ask my daughter the activity she looks forward to most is using her Wizarding World of Harry Potter interactive wand in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. In fact, it is not unusual for interactive wand spell casting to take up much of our day at the parks.
Best Place To Buy A Wand At Universal Orlando
For the full experience, skip the gift shops and head over to Ollivanders in Diagon Alley. The Diagon Alley location for Ollivanders has more rooms and usually short lines. Go first thing in the morning if you want to beat the rush.
As youll remember, Harry was brought to these makers of fine wands since 382 BC by Rubeus Hagrid as a rite of passage in the wizarding world.
Inside youll discover row after row of wand boxes stacked up to the ceiling.
Theres something magical about Ollivanders and thats why its the best place to buy a wand at Universal Orlando Resort. Only here can you witness the magic of the wand choosing its wizard, an interactive experience in and of itself.
The Ollivanders in Hogsmeade is our #2 spot to buy wands, but the tiny store can only accommodate 24 people at a time. Nothing can really beat the intimate wand choosing ceremony at the Diagon Alley location.
Note: Wands cost the same amount in every retail location .

Harry Potter Interactive Wands At Universal: Which Wand Is The Right Wand For Me Are The Harry Potter Wands Worth It
When visiting Universal Studios of Orlando, Florida, if you are like most people, you are going more to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter than any other section of the parks.
Both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios have sections of the park;dedicated to the Harry Potter films and books where you can easily spend several hoursor days.
There are some absolutely amazing rides, like the Forbidden Journey at Hogwarts Castle, which my husband has said is the best ride he has ever been on, and even waiting to go on the ride offers a chance for visitors to experience and see so much of the castle and the wonders within. There are many, many cool shops to check out, fantastic drinks and candies to try and much more. But the main draw for so many Potter fans out there when visiting is the wands they sell.
There are actually three different types of wands available for purchase and so here is some information on each one for you, so that when you plan your visit, you can already have the scoop on which wand is the right wand for you or for your children . Are the wands worth the price? I say yes, for those of us who already know and love Harry Potter and his world, and for those who fall in love with it all when they are experiencing it at the Universal Parks. These are a fun way to explore the park and interact with it, creating new memories and having a souvenir to bring home from the trip.
What Kind Of Magic Can I Do
I don’t want to spoil the fun of experiencing doing magic at the WWoHP by telling you all of the different things that will happen when you use an interactive wand but I’ll give you a few examples. Casting the right spell will mend a broken coat of armor, flush a toilet, and make it rain. There are 25+ different types of magic you can do!

Interactive Diagon Alley Wand Spell Locations
Throughout Diagon Alley, there are 16 interactive wand spell locations; 11 of them being in the greater Diagon Alley area and the other 5 in Knockturn Alley.
Use Small Spell Motions
The biggest mistake I see when people are casting spells with their interactive wands is exaggerated arm movements. Pointing your wand in the right direction and making clear, but small wand motions is the best way to successfully cast a spell with your interactive wand.
When casting spells through windows avoid wand movements across multiple window panes. The wooden segments between windows interfere with spell casting.

What Wand Do You Get At Universal Studios
As mentioned before, at Universal Studios, you may choose between two types of wands: the interactive wand, and the non-interactive one. If you are at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you might want to invest in an interactive wand because thats how all the magic happens.;
That being said, even the non-interactive wands are quite cool for the visual and imaginative effect. Plus, some of the wands owned by book or movie characters cant be purchased in interactive form such as the wands from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This means that non-interactive options are a great alternative. They are also great if you are a collector or if you really want to have your own wand.
Sadly enough, you cannot buy a custom wand at Ollivanders. For example, if you want to have your Pottermore wand created, there is no option for you . However, this is not a deal-breaker, as you have thousands of ready-made wands to choose from. You have non-character wands as well, made from holly, birch, reed, willow, vine, ash, hazel, rowan, ivy, alder, and hawthorn all of which feature a different core. Plus, all of these wands are interactive, so you can have a lot of fun with them.;

How To Get To Universal Studios In Orlando
The best way to start, is how are you planning to get to Orlando? If you are coming from a distance, the best way to get to Universal Studios, is by flying into Orlando International Airport. From there, you can take a cab, ride-share, or bus to your hotel.
We decided to catch a cab at the airport. It really wasnt too difficult. They even give you a flat-rate fare to all the park-owned resorts, so at least there were no surprises.
Universal hotels also offer a shuttle to and from the airport, but they are not included in your stay, and are actually more expensive than a cab.
If you are staying at a Universal Resort, they offer free transportation between the resorts and the parks. That means no worries about parking or traffic!
Damage And Underwater Use
Lockhart using a broken wand to cast a Memory Charm, which backfired onto himself
Spells and physical damage could irreparably damage wands, destroying or greatly diminishing their magical abilities. Attempts to repair the wand would not be effective, and the wand might break again while performing magic, or even backfire, as was the case with Spellotaped wands.
The only known way to fully repair a broken wand was through mastery of the Elder Wand, although this ability might be lost if the current master died undefeated because most of the wand’s power would disappear with them.
In addition, wands seemed to possess the capability to function underwater, although the appearance of spells might change, as was demonstrated when Harry Potter attempted to use a Revulsion Jinx to free himself from the grip of several Grindylows. Harry noted that instead of “sending sparks at the Grindylows”, it “pelted them with what seemed to be a jet of boiling water”.

What Is The Price Of A Wand At Universal Studios
A wand at Universal Studios starts at around $49, before the annual tax and pass discount. You can get various replicas from all the famous characters, such as Harrys, Voldermorts, Rons, or Lucius Malfoys depending on your preferences, desire for power, or sense of style. The type of wand will also affect its price.
For example, you may expect to pay somewhere around $52 for an interactive wand and $46 for a well-made resin model that does not interact with anything.
If you have small children around age 5 and up and they havent yet learned about the magical world of Harry Potter, you may go for a less expensive wand from the shop. You will pay around $29 for it, but it wont interact with anything from the Wizarding World.;
Bear in mind that the fancier the wand, the more you will have to pay for it. Collectors editions or certain character wands will certainly be more expensive compared to simpler wands.
