Harry Potter And The Half

Why Snape’s Avada Kedavra Was BLUE When He Killed Dumbledore – Harry Potter Theory

In the sixth book, Dumbledore fetches Harry from Privet Drive and takes him to persuade Horace Slughorn to rejoin the Hogwarts staff. Harry notices that Dumbledore’s right hand is shrivelled and black. During the school year, Dumbledore teaches Harry of events in Voldemort’s past that he feels are of immense importance. Using the Pensieve, they visit the memories of others, which contain important information about Voldemort’s life and his genocidal rise to power. While using the pensieve, Harry sees a vision of Dumbledore’s first encounter with the young Tom Riddle Dumbledore had known from the beginning that the boy was dangerous, but believed that Hogwarts would change him.

It is learned that Voldemort created six Horcruxes to gain immortality and that they must all be destroyed before Harry goes after the final piece of Voldemort’s soul in the Dark Lord’s body. Harry also repeatedly warns Dumbledore in most of their lessons that school bully Draco Malfoy is working for Voldemort. Dumbledore refuses to take any action against Draco, and instead tells Harry that he already knows more about what is happening than Harry does.

Dumbledore in the Great Hall

When readers picture Albus Dumbledore, they might imagine a man with bright blue eyes, half-moon glasses perched on a long crooked nose, a tall and thin build, flowing robes, a long silver beard tucked neatly into his belt, and a face lined with age and wisdom. Within the magical world of Harry Potter, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is known for the greatness of his power and the depth of his wisdom. Throughout J.K. Rowlings seven novels, Dumbledore guides Harry, thwarts evil, and is a hero to many.

After revelations about Dumbledores past that emerged in The Deathly Hallows, debates continue to rage over Dumbledores motivations, but this is a discussion for another article. Dumbledore polarizes fans, yet no matter ones personal feelings about this character, it is impossible not to admire the wisdom, wittiness, and insight that flow from his mouth. Through my multiple readings of Rowlings novels, I have discovered ten quotes that have encouraged me in tough times, changed my outlook on life, and nourished my soul.

After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.

Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

Rowling used several chapters in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to reveal two major details concerning Dumbledore: his early life and his death. The book introduces his parents, Percival and Kendra Dumbledore, as well as his little sister, Ariana his brother, Aberforth Dumbledore, was mentioned in previous books. At six years old, Ariana was attacked by three Muggle boys who had witnessed her performing magic. Because of this attack, Ariana was seriously traumatised and never able to control her magic again. Enraged, Percival attacked the Muggle boys , and was given a life sentence in Azkaban. After this, Kendra moved her family to the village of Godric’s Hollow. In one of her outbursts, Ariana accidentally killed Kendra at around the time that Albus completed his education. Albus became the head of the family and was forced to remain in his house with his sister while Aberforth completed his education.

Decades later, in 1945, Dumbledore finally defeated the now-Dark wizard Grindelwald, who had come to possess the Elder Wand. Grindelwald’s defeat made Dumbledore the master of the Elder Wand, which remained his until just before his death, when Draco used the Disarming Charm on him.

Dumbledore had another Hallow in his keeping since the death of James Potter: the Invisibility Cloak, which he had borrowed to examine. When James died, Dumbledore kept the cloak and decided to pass it on to Harry, James’ son.

Dumbledore Was 116 When He Died

Why Ian McKellen turned down Dumbledore role in Harry ...

Even more solid proof has arisen from Pottermore about Dumbledore’s age from his character page.

His year of birth is listed as 1881 and his year of death is listed as 1997.

Dumbledore finishes his 7th year at Hogwarts.. His mother dies.. He stays home to take care of his sister and befriends Grindelwald. That lil three-way fight happens between Aberforth, Dumbledore, and Grindelwald and someone kills Ariana accidently in late summer. Grindelwald flees and then five years later Dumbledore defeats Grindelwald and gets the Elder Wand in 1945. That would mean he was around 22 or 23 in 1945. Making him much younger than Jo Rowling said. Also making him around 75 at the time of his death.

I know this sounds crazy but today I’m going to prove that the whole character of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series is WRONG and it couldn’t be possible.

    Clues we know-

  • Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald in 1945 .
  • Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald after 5 years after they parted .
  • Harry’s parents died in 1981
  • Harry was 1 year old when his parents died.
  • Dumbledore died in 1997 in May or June.
  • Dumbledore was 18 years old when Kendra died .
  • Dumbledore was 19 years old when Ariana died and Grindelwald left .
  • Solution-

Putting all the clues together, I conclude that Dumbledore was 19 year old in 1940. He died in 1997. Therefore, he was 76 years old when he died.

James and Lily Potter, his friends and former students

Dumbledore first met James Potter and Lily Evans during their first year at Hogwarts, where he was the Headmaster. Dumbledore had a good relationship with both of them, knowing them both to be pure souls. James had lent Dumbledore his Invisibility Cloak one of the three Deathly Hallows. After James’s death Dumbledore returned the cloak to James’s son, Harry.

When the Potters became Voldemort’s targets due to a prophecy made about their son and the Dark Lord, Dumbledore attempted to protect them by casting the Fidelius Charm and offering to be their Secret Keeper, but the role of Secret Keeper went instead to Peter Pettigrew, which turned out to be a fatal mistake, as Peter turned out to be a spy, and he betrayed Lily and James to Voldemort, who killed them. Dumbledore was very saddened by their deaths and dedicated the rest of his life to protecting their son, Harry, without giving him any happiness in his childhood. He often told Harry about the great goodness of his parents, and repeatedly consoled him with the assurance that his parents would never ever truly leave him because of their love for him. Dumbledore also believed that Harry’s love for his parents was his greatest power.

Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, his former students

Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger were Harry Potters best friends and, like Harry, they thought Dumbledore was a great wizard. Dumbledore liked them too, despite that he wasnt as close to them as he was to Harry.

After his death, he left Ron his Deluminator and Hermione his copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. These gifts were proven very useful, as Ron abandoned Harry and Hermione formerly to find his family, and, when he wanted to come back to Harry and Hermione, the Deluminator showed him the way. The trio also read the Tales of Beedle the Bard and learned about the Deathly Hallows. Harry, Ron and Hermione also visited Dumbledores portrait, after the Battle of Hogwarts.

    Dumbledore And The Elder Wand

Despite the fact that he pathologically avoided gaining too much power, Dumbledore did allow himself to buy into one myth and take control of one of the most magically powerful artifacts of all time. In the final installment of the series, Harry, Ron, and Hermione learn about the eponymous Deathly Hallows, a legendary trio of items made up of the Invisibility Cloak, the Resurrection Stone, and the Elder Wand. Harry has owned the Invisibility Cloak all along, but the Resurrection Stone and the Elder Wand belonged to another specifically, Dumbledore.

In order to try and bring his family back, Dumbledore tried to break into a cursed ring of Voldemort’s to retrieve the Stone and ended up inflicted with a fatal curse, but he maintained possession of the Elder Wand after his duel with Grindelwald. Since he knew that Voldemort would stop at nothing to get the world’s most powerful wand, he arranged his own death at Snape’s hands, finessing the ownership of the wand until it would fall to Draco Malfoy, a young boy tasked to murder Dumbledore by Voldemort himself. In the end, Harry ends up the master of the wand, but it’s still a pretty incredible feat on Dumbledore’s part to not only hide the wand from evil for so long, but even make sure that it would never truly work for Voldemort’s purposes.

    Is Voldemort Older Than Snape

The Final Thoughts Of Albus Dumbledore Before he Died

Another character whose age people have trouble pinpointing is professor Severus Snape. Although he is not as old as Lord Voldemort people still struggle with determining his age in comparison to other characters.

Luckily, the books offer plenty of information about Snapes age which makes it easy for us to determine how old he actually is. Snape was a part of the same generation most of the main characters parents are.

Snape attended Hogwarts with Harrys parents and the Marauders. He started his first year at Hogwarts in 1971, which means he was born in 1960.

Lord Voldemort was born in 1926, which makes him 34 years older than Severus Snape.

Even though a great period of time separates the two, they are closely connected. After all, Snape became a Death Eater right after finishing his education at Hogwarts.

Due to how powerful Snape was and the extreme loyalty he displayed over time, he quickly became one of Lord Voldemorts most trusted helpers.

He remained in this position until Lord Voldemort learned about the prophecy of a child that will cause his downfall. Although he was the one who informed Voldemort about the prophecy, he turned to Albus Dumbledore to ask for protection for the Potters once he learned of Voldemorts plan to kill them.

He Indirectly Encourages Bullying At Hogwarts

The House system at Hogwarts encourages a deep divide between the students, which results in heavy bullying. The Slytherin and Gryffindor Houses have a long-standing rivalry, but other Houses aren’t much better. When the Marauders constantly bully Severus Snape, Albus does nothing to stop their behavior. Things get to the point where Sirius Black practically tries to kill Severus, using his own friend’s lycanthropy. Severus does his own fair share of cursing, and his resentment persists even after their Hogwarts years, fueling his decision to join the Death Eaters.

Later, the same story repeats itself. Harry Potter becomes the target of bullying and opprobrium, first when he is deemed to be the Heir of Slytherin, then when he is entered against his will into the Triwizard Tournament. The only one who ever seems to show interest is, ironically, Barty Crouch, Jr., then masquerading as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Mad-Eye Moody. He turns Draco Malfoy into a ferret. While harsh, it does deter Draco’s behavior. It’s almost ridiculous that it takes a Death Eater to intervene and protect a student from bullying, because all the other members of the staff, Dumbledore included, are too busy turning a blind eye.

Turning down repeated offers to take the ultimate seat of power and become Minister for Magic, Dumbledore turned instead to his true love: teaching.

As one of the most intelligent and learned wizards in history, it makes sense that Dumbledore would want to share his wisdom with young witches and wizards, and he returned to teach both Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration throughout his early tenure at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As the Transfiguration teacher, Dumbledore encountered a curious young student named Tom Riddle, whom he immediately recognized as a talented yet foreboding presence. Of course, that student would grow up to become Lord Voldemort, Dumbledores biggest adversary besides Grindelwald.
