In 2000, after a seven-month search, lead actor Daniel Radcliffe was discovered by producer David Heyman and writer Steve Kloves seated just behind them in a theatre. In Heyman’s own words, “There sitting behind me was this boy with these big blue eyes. It was Dan Radcliffe. I remember my first impressions: He was curious and funny and so energetic. There was real generosity too, and sweetness. But at the same time he was really voracious and with hunger for knowledge of whatever kind.”

Radcliffe had already established himself as an actor in the 1999 BBC television production of David Copperfield in which he played the title role’s childhood years. Heyman persuaded Radcliffe’s parents to allow him to audition for the part of Harry Potter, which involved Radcliffe being filmed. Rowling was enthusiastic after viewing Radcliffe’s filmed test, saying she didn’t think there was a better choice for the part of Harry Potter.

Also in 2000, the then unknown British actors Emma Watson and Rupert Grint were selected from thousands of auditioning children to play the roles of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively. Their only previous acting experience was in school plays. Grint was eleven years old and Watson ten at the time they were cast.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2

After destroying one Horcrux and discovering the significance of the three Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron and Hermione continue to seek the other Horcruxes in an attempt to destroy Voldemort, who has now obtained the powerful Elder Wand. The Dark Lord discovers Harry’s hunt for Horcruxes and launches an attack on Hogwarts School, where the trio return for one last stand against the dark forces that threaten both the Wizarding and Muggle worlds.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1

After unexpected events at the end of the previous year, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are entrusted with a quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort’s secret to immortality the Horcruxes. It is supposed to be their final year at Hogwarts, but the collapse of the Ministry of Magic and Voldemort’s rise to power prevents them from attending. The trio undergo a long journey with many obstacles in their path including Death Eaters, Snatchers, the mysterious Deathly Hallows, and Harry’s connection with the Dark Lord’s mind becoming ever stronger.

In 2016 Rowling Released A Harry Potter Prequel Play And Sequel Movie

Last year was another landmark year for “Harry Potter.” The play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” premiered in London, with a book version released around the world in July. Finally, “Harry Potter” fans had another chance to go to a bookstore at midnight and buy a new entry in the series.

The play was written with John Tiffany and Jack Thorne. Its story begins 19 years after the events of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” and it concerns the next generation of wizards that followed in the wake of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

“It was 17 years and just because Ive stopped on the page doesnt mean my imagination stopped,” Rowling told The Guardian. “Its like running a very long race. You cant just stop dead at the finishing line. I had some material and some ideas and themes, and we three made a story.”

Illuminati Wants J K Rowling To Stfu

Who wrote the harry potter series J.K. Rowling
J.K. Rowling says she wrote the Harry Potter books. However, there are more critical stories essentially calling into question her authorship of the huge franchise. At a creative writing seminar in France she was found to have had a very poor familiarity with the characters and stories of her own books when questioned by sincere fans at the workshop. She then demonstrated a distinctly poor knowledge of any of the fundamentals of creative writing. Was she an impostor? Amazingly enough, the intrigue extends into the underworld of the intelligence community.

The Fantastic Beasts Screenplays

Unless you’ve been living under a rock this entire time, you’ve probably heard of the two new Wizarding World movies that have hit Hollywood in the past few years. Led by actor Eddie Redmayne and an all-star ensemble cast, the Fantastic Beasts films tell the story of Newt Scamander, Albus Dumbledore, and the dark battle against Gellert Grindelward in the blackened days before Lord Voldemort entered the scene.

Of course, you can choose to simply watch the continuation of the Wizarding World on-screen but reading the screenplays of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: the Original Screenplay and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald The Original Screenplay will undoubtedly give you that extra level of depth and insight into the characters.

Throughout Her Career Rowling Has Been Politically Active

Rowling is known for her leftist political views, generally supporting Britains Labour Party . She donated £1 million to the party in 2008 and frequently cites her experience living off of government benefits while she was writing Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone when politicians threaten to cut funding for similar programs.

In 2014, Rowling, a citizen of Scotland, vocally opposed Scotland leaving Great Britain in the Scottish referendum. She donated £1 million to the campaign to stay. And in 2016, she campaigned against Brexit.

Rowling Finally Signed A Deal With A Small Publisher That Made Her Pick A Pen Name

After a year, Little made a deal to print 500 copies of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone with Bloomsbury, a relatively young publishing company, and secured her a £2,500 advance.

The publisher anticipated that boys may not want to read books written by a woman, so it suggested she pick a pen name with two initials. The J stands for Joanne, her real name. She has no middle name, so she picked K for Kathleen, which was the name of her paternal grandmother.

Philosophers Stone appeared in print in 1997.

Rowling Made Up Her Middle Initial In Response To Her Publishers Sexism

Pat & Vanna Visit Where J.K. Rowling Wrote the Harry Potter Series | Wheel of Fortune

In addition to assuming that the book would not sell well, the editorial team at Bloomsbury advised Rowling that she should not publish under her real name, Joanne Rowling, because boys would not read a book written by a woman. That sexist assumption certainly did not give much credit to boys, and took it for granted that girls would read a book written by men. Rowling, eager for success, agreed to write under the name J.K. Rowling. The J was her first initial. But Rowling does not have a middle name, so she used K as a tribute to her grandmother, Kathleen.

So What’s The Recommended Reading Order

Fortunately, Harry Potter isn’t one of those series like Star Wars has a sprawling number of canon novels, film novelizations, reference books, and comics to read. Instead, it’s a finite universe which makes catching up on it much easier. We recommend reading the main series chronologically so that you can see Harry and his friends grow up. Then if you’re still thirsting for more of the Wizarding World you can see where your interests most strongly lie , and start again there.

If you still havent read Harry Potter, just know that its never too late to start and even for those who have, youre never too old to go back and relive the magic.

The Increasingly Dark Tone Of The Series Was Inspired By Rowlings Life Experiences

The Harry Potter series becomes considerably more sophisticated as it progresses, grappling with serious issues like death and bigotry. Rowling has been open about the fact that much of the darkness is autobiographical. She told Oprah Winfrey that, though she did not realize it when she began writing the series, making Harry an orphan, along with his subsequent experiences with death, was her way of dealing with the death of her mother, who died of multiple sclerosis when Rowling was 20: If she hadn’t died, I don’t think it’s too strong to say that there wouldn’t be Harry Potter. The books are what they are because she died.

The Dementors, among the most frightening creatures in the franchise, were inspired by her struggles with depression during her 20s: It’s so difficult to describe to someone who’s never been there because it’s not sadness. I know sadness. Sadness is to cry and to feel. But it’s that cold absence of feeling that really hollowed-out feeling. That’s what Dementors are.”

Why The Rumors Almost Seemed Plausible

Look, Harry Potter fans are still avid, eager and everywhere. I personally really wish that J.K. Rowling would commit pen to paper in regards to more stories set in her magical wizarding world. In particular, it would be cool if the stories that were being told in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and its subsequent sequels were told in a fictional book format. Right now, they’re just being seen via screenplay/ movie, and the actual Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them book penned by J.K. Rowling is not the same.

People want to see more of this content and if theres a chance, its easy to see how misinformation gets bandied about a bit. Its gotten to the point where J.K. Rowling actually has a penned tweet meant to help with information, though, so if you are ever curious and hear rumors that you need answers to, they are often easy to trace:

Other Popular Jk Rowling Rumors

Harry Potter author JK Rowling reveals why she wrote crime ...

Look this wasnt the first or the last time that a rumor will likely be bandied about regarding a J.K. Rowling popular title or property. Theres a question that crops up every few months about whether or not we will ever get a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie, for example.

Back in September of 2019, J.K. Rowling posted a somewhat innocuous tweet about darkness coming from unexpected places.’

Fans latched onto the tweet, thinking it could be indicating a movie series specifically given Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is popular and features a timeline in which Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley are all grown-ups with children at Hogwarts.

Then some outlets picked up the vague rumor. Ultimately, J.K. Rowling had to again go to social media to explain we wont be getting a movie based on her popular stage play, which has been running since 2016.

Right now, the Fantastic Beasts franchise is in full swing and there is just as much interest in the character J.K. Rowling started penning decades ago as ever. Many people in the fanbase would like to see more of the authors work both in book and movie form although the desire for more books may even supersede that of the desire for more movies, as The Crimes of Grindelwald did have a somewhat middling response. We’ll have to wait and see exactly what the future holds, but in the meantime, at least these particular rumors have been debunked.

Harry Potter Book Series Review

Reports surfaced in 2012 that Rowling was working on a crime novel, but the author stayed silent about what she’d write next.

In April of 2013, Little Brown published “The Cuckoo’s Calling,” about the fictional detective Cormoran Strike and his ambitious assistant Robin Ellacott. It was purported to have been written by a guy named Robert Galbraith. Reviews were good and sales were unremarkable.

A family friend of one of Rowling’s lawyers let slip that Galbraith was, in fact, a pen name for J.K. Rowling. On Amazon, sales of “The Cuckoo’s Calling” rose by more than 150,000%. She’s since written two more “Cormoran Strike” novels, “The Silkworm” and “Career of Evil,” and said she plans to write more “Strike” novels than “Harry Potter.” The books are being adapted into a miniseries for the BBC.

The News That Made Some Believe More Books Were Coming

Back in 2019, there was an announcement that four more e-books would be produced based on the Magical World of Harry Potter. At first glance and via certain headlines — this sounds awesome and as if brand new Harry Potter content is incoming, but thats not exactly what happened.

First and foremost, four new e-books are being published set in the Harry Potter world, but as J.K. Rowling even said on her own website the rumors that ran around were misleading for two reasons.

1. The books are not being penned by J.K. Rowling2. The four books will be set in the Harry Potter Universe, but they arent featuring the fan-favorite characters of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Instead, the books will be called A Journey Through and will be non-fiction e-reads each themed by Hogwarts lessons. Nothing really to do with Harry or J.K. Rowling at all, but the rumors pervaded so much the prominent author had to dedicate a page on her website about them.

J.K. Rowling has previously been open about not wanting to write more about Harry Potter. She’s basically said her main hero’s story was closed after the events in the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play, noting to Variety previously:

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

While not part of the original seven-book series, Cursed Child and the accompanying stage play have become a generally accepted addition to the Harry Potter canon. This 336-page text picks up where the Deathly Hallows epilogue left off, with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Malfoy sending their unfortunately named kids off to Hogwarts Harrys son Albus and Malfoys son Scorpius serve as our protagonists this time around. Upon arrival at Hogwarts, the boys are both sorted into Slytherin and forge an unlikely friendship, which naturally causes tension between Albus and Harry over the next few years.

After a fight with his father, Albus overhears Cedric Diggorys father Amos asking Harry to use a more powerful version of a Time Turner to go back in time and rescue his son. When Harry refuses, Albus enlists Scorpius to help him save Cedric, with the aid of Diggorys niece Delphi. However, as anyone whos seen Back to the Future can attest, messing with timelines is never a good idea especially in the wizarding world. Things are further complicated by the fact that Delphi is not who she says she is, and may have sinister ulterior motives when it comes to rewriting history.
