Harry conspicuously wheels his own little luggage rack onto Kings Cross Station in order to get to Platform 9 3/4. This rack containing his spellbook and his owl, Hedwig, is called a “cart” in the US Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, while in the UK version, Harry is pushing a “trolley”.
Likewise, the Hogwarts candy cart is called the trolley in the UK version, though, they did choose to keep that verbiage in the US version of the movies as well.

The new students are greeted at the castle door by Professor Minerva McGonagall, who tells them they will soon be sorted into their houses. All Hogwarts students live in one of four residences: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin, with each house having its own team for Quidditch. The houses are in a yearlong competition with one another to acquire the most points, which are earned by success in Quidditch games and given by teachers for academic achievement and lost for student infractions, in order to win the House Cup awarded at the end of the year.
The first-years wait in an antechamber while McGonagall checks to see whether it is time yet. The Hogwarts ghosts glide into the room by mistake while debating whether to offer Peeves another chance.
After a brief mental discussion with the hat in which it tries to suggest Slytherin to him, the hat places Harry in Gryffindor. Harry is pleased to find that Ron joins in Gryffindor with him. Draco Malfoy is placed in Slytherin.

The Odeon Luxe Leicester Square is a prominent cinema building in the . Built in the style and completed in 1937, the building has been continually altered in response to developments in cinema technology, and was the first in the United Kingdom. The cinema is often used for film premieres.

So, Harry heads to the library to tell Ron and Hermione. They are convinced Snape was threatening Quirrell and means to steal the Stone soon, and Hermione suggests they go to Dumbledore. Harry refuses, saying that they have no proof.
Back in the common room, Harry tells Hermione and Ron Voldemort’s in the forest and that Snape wants the Stone to help Voldemort restore his powers. Afterwards, going into his bed, Harry finds that his Invisibility Cloak has been returned to him.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is a fantasy novel written by British author J. K. Rowling. The first novel in the Harry Potter series and Rowling’s debut novel, it follows Harry Potter, a young wizard who discovers his magical heritage on his eleventh birthday, when he receives a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Why Did The First Harry Potter Book Get A Title Change In The Us
One of the ongoing anomalies of the Harry Potter series is the differing title of the first adventure. In America, the first outing of J.K. Rowling’s most famous creation is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, but pretty much everywhere else on the planet, it’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
So why did the name change?
It dates back to when the rights were sold for the first book: Scholastic Corporation bought the U.S. publishing rights for what was then known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, forking out a comparably high $105,000 for the privilege. Arthur A. Levine, who headed the Scholastic children’s imprint that would publish the book, knew he had a winner on his handshe just had some reservations about the title.
In Philip W. Errington’s biography on Rowling, he wrote that Levine wanted a title that said magic more overtly to American readers.” Levine was concerned that Philosopher’s Stone would feel “arcane,” so one of the proposed alternatives was Harry Potter and the School of Magic, which Rowling shot down. Eventually, the author suggested Sorcerer’s Stone, and that’s how the book is known in the U.S. market where Scholastic had the rights.
The change in title would also be reflected in the first film when it came out in 2001. However, the inconsistencies ended there as the remaining six books all had uniform names.
Philosophers Vs Sorcerers Stone
The final main difference is the title. The Scholastic Corporation made various differences from the name, front cover and countless colloquial modifications for marketing purposes and to appeal toward American audiences. Rowling put an end to the English word changes in the following books and expressed that she wished that she could have vetoed the name change with the US publisher.

He is glad, however, that Dudley and Piers are going to Smeltings Academy, while Harry is going to attend Stonewall High. One day during the summer, Harry is told to get the post for Uncle Vernon. When Harry goes to get the mail, there are three letters: a postcard from Uncle Vernon’s sister, who is on holiday in the Isle of Wight, a letter that looks like a bill, and a letter for Harry. Harry takes the letter, studies the yellow parchment it is made of, then reads the address:

Differences From The Book
Columbus repeatedly checked with Rowling to make sure he was getting minor details correct. Kloves described the film as being “really faithful” to the book. He added dialogue, of which Rowling approved. One of the lines originally included had to be removed after Rowling told him that it would directly contradict an event in the then-unreleased fifth Harry Potter novel Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
The book’s timeline is not enforced in the film. In the book, Harry’s eleventh birthday is in 1991. On the film set for 4 Privet Drive, Dudley’s certificates from primary school bear the year 2001.

Harry Potters Popularity Completely Changed The Publishing Industry And The Effect Spilled Over To Hollywood
Here are just two of the ways Harry Potter changed publishing, and how those changes affected the rest of pop culture:
1) The books made it possible to publish long works aimed at children. Prior to Harry Potter, the accepted wisdom was that kids didnt have the attention span to read long books. And anyway, the thinking went, kids werent buying their own books. Their parents were paying for everything, and they would never be willing to pay an extra dollar or two for a longer book, with its extra printing and binding.
But after Harry Potter became an unstoppable cultural force, and it was clear that fans would keep buying thebooks no matter what, it started to expand. The last four volumes of the series are all doorstoppers that clock in at well over 700 pages each.
Publishers and childrens writers took notice. Booklist found that middle-grade novels expanded 115.5 percent between 2006 and 2016, the decade in which the Potter novels were at their longest.
