Thursday Night Previews: Fantastic Doesnt Quite Live Up To Its Name With $875 Million

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts Teaser | Rotten Tomatoes TV

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them pulled in $8.75 million during its midnight shows last night. Thats good, but a little lower than expected and not even the best of the fall so far. It was beaten by Doctor Strange, which earned $9.4 million just two weeks ago. Worse still, Fantastic Beastsreviews have fallen to 74% positive. Thats still good for a blockbuster release, but it is the lowest in the Harry Potter franchise and will likely hurt the films box office performance over the weekend. It should still make over $80 million this weekend, but it will be close. We might have to revise that prediction lower tomorrow when we have Fridays estimates. More…

Weekend Predictions: Will Fantastic Be Fantastic Or Will It Merely Be A Beast At The Box Office

At the beginning of the month, we thought there would be four wide releases / expansions this week. However, it turns out there will be just one, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The lack of wide releases should help it at the box office and there is a small chance it could top $100 million over the next three days. While there are no other wide releases, there are a few films opening or expanding semi-wide. Of these, The Edge of Seventeen is the only one with a realistic shot at the top five. It is earning the best reviews of the week and did earn a lot of film festival buzz, so that should help. Billy Lynns Long Halftime Walk had an amazing opening in limited release last weekend, but it will likely struggle as it expands into just over 1,000 theaters this weekend. Finally theres Bleed for This, which is expected to barely make the top ten. This weekend last year, the final installment of the Hunger Games franchise opened with just over $100 million. Theres a slim chance Fantastic Beasts will do the same. Even if it doesnt, the depth this year is much better than last year and that should help 2016 win in the year-over-year comparison. More…

Harry And Professor Quirrell’s First Meet

Professor Quirrell is a quivering wreck when he first meets Harry Potter in the Leaky Cauldron of Diagon Alley. With good reason, too, given that Quirrell’s working on behalf of Lord Voldemort. In the movie, Quirrell is so petrified, he refuses to even touch Harry which, at the end of the blockbuster, we discover is due to the fact he’ll suffer incredible pain if he does.

In the books, though, Quirrell shakes Harry’s hand. However, this is before Voldemort chooses to occupy the back of his head, with the Dark Lord choosing to keep a “close eye” on his servant after his attempts to steal the Sorcerer’s Stone from Gringotts fail to pay off.

A Chronological Guide To Watching The Harry Potter And The Fantastic Beasts Movies

A New Harry Potter Movie Coming Out In 2020? Possibilities ...

Do you want to know how to watch the Harry Potter movies in order? Doing so is meant to be a magical experience and we mean that literally.

Starting off with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone , the film series follows every one of his seven years of studies. That includes learning from iconic wizards such as Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape as well as a procession of unfortunate Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers.

For a movie franchise based on a best-selling novel series, it’s unsurprising that the Harry Potter films are as popular and beloved as their paper counterparts. The big-budget adaptations of JK Rowlings Wizarding World are up there with the most successful movie series in history, too, with only Star Wars and the making more money at the worldwide box office over the past two decades.

That, then, makes the eight films essential family viewing, especially during the festive period, with new generations of kids continuing to discover the adventures of Harry and his best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.

But, these days, watching the Harry Potter movies in order is a little more complicated than it used to be. Warner Bros. has also released two movies in its Fantastic Beasts prequel film series , which are set in the 1920s and introduce a young Dumbledore along the way.

Who Takes Harry Potter To Kings Cross

In the Sorcerer’s Stone movie, Hagrid ditches Harry Potter just before the Boy Who Lived is about to get on the train to Hogwarts which is rather rude, in our opinion. It’s then left for poor Harry to find his way onto the platform, something he only succeeds in doing when he encounters the Weasley family for the first time.

But in the books, it’s the Dursleys who take him. It would have been great to have been given a scene of Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia insulting Harry before he goes off for the year which is exactly what happens in the core material.

Home Market Releases For March 28th 2017

Its a good week for Pick of the Week contenders, as there are seven such releases on this weeks list. Unfortunately, none of them really scream out as The Pick of the Week. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is by far the biggest, but it is only out on Video on Demandright now, while Hidden Figures is the best, but again, it is only on VOD this week. There are also a couple of busted Oscar-bait films, Archer: Season Seven is only getting a DVD release, while the previous seasons came out on Blu-ray. In the end, I went with Mystery Science Theater 3000: Volume XXXVIII, partially to celebrate the return of the show. More…

The Tragedy In Godrics Hollow

According to a prophecy recited by Professor Sibyl Trelawney , Harry Potter was named as the person who would stop Lord Voldemort.

The prophecy was made in 1980 and in 1981, Lord Voldemort, the leader of the Death Eaters during the First Wizarding War, went to Godrics Hollow to murder Harry Potter, after having found out about the prophecy.

Despite being protected by his parents, James and Lily Potter, Harry soon met Lord Voldemort, as he killed his parents with ease and approached the child.

The rest is history Lord Voldemort never actually died, but disappeared for a while, while was sent off to his Muggle relatives until his enrolment in Hogwarts.

Differences From The Book

Columbus repeatedly checked with Rowling to make sure he was getting minor details correct. Kloves described the film as being “really faithful” to the book. He added dialogue, of which Rowling approved. One of the lines originally included had to be removed after Rowling told him that it would directly contradict an event in the then-unreleased fifth Harry Potter novel Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

The book’s timeline is not enforced in the film. In the book, Harry’s eleventh birthday is in 1991. On the film set for 4 Privet Drive, Dudley’s certificates from primary school bear the year 2001.

How Did Harry Potter Come Back To Life

The Harry Potter franchise contains many different emotional deaths and one such should have been Harry himself. However, turns out Harry actually comes back to life after he got hit by the Killing curse. This confused many fans since the Killing curse was presented as a piece of magic that allows you to instantly kill your opponents. So, how did Harry avoid death and come back to life?

The truth is Harry never actually died. His mothers protection lived on in Voldemorts blood after he incorporated it in the potion which brought him back to his physical body. This is why Harry got to heaven, but since he could choose to stay alive he managed to come back to the real world.

Weekend Prediction: Is Grindelwald Committing Crimes Against The Harry Potter Franchise

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the latest installment in the Harry Potter franchise, but sadly, its reviews are, by far, the worst in the franchise. It should still have no trouble earning first place and will very likely break even just on its international numbers, but this is still troubling for its future. The second biggest release of the week is Instant Family and its reviews are good, but not great. They are certainly fine for a family comedy. Widows is the best-reviewed new release, but its buzz is quiet enough that it will barely finish in the top five. Meanwhile, A Private War is expanding nationwide and that could help it earn a spot in the top ten, but I wouldnt bet on it. This weekend last year, Justice League opened with $93.84 million, while Wonder debuted in second place with $27.55 million. Add in The Stars $9.81 million opening and the three wide releases pulled in $130 million. Theres no way the new releases this year will match that and 2018 will likely lose in the year-over-year comparison. More…

Why Isn’t There A Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Movie In The Works Yet

How Well Do You Remember 2001?

ByMike Reyespublished 19 February 19

The Wizarding World franchise that J.K. Rowling has continued to develop past the publication of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows has, for the most part, focused on enriching the lore of the series past and present. With the Fantastic Beasts franchise being the main focus, Rowling has crafted additional avenues for the story preceding the era of The Boy Who Lived, which has definitely satisfied a number of fans. However, there are those who would like to see more adventures from Harrys post-Hogwarts years play out on the big screen.

Nowhere is that more prevalent than in the response to the stage play that acts as basically Book 8 in Harry Potter’s story, entitled Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. With several stagings currently being carried out worldwide, and two more cities about to start running the show within the next year, ticket sales are only poised to grow bigger for whats still one of the hottest tickets on Broadway. Youd have to think that any film adaptation for this show would also rake in the dough, which leads me to the obvious question: Why hasnt this happened yet?

If you know anything about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, you should know it ties far more into Harry Potter and his family than the franchise that is currently churning out new movies. If you aren’t up-to-date the shows official synopsis reads as follows:

Harry Potter: 10 Major Things The Movie Left Out From The Sorcerer’s Stone

The first Harry Potter film is probably the most faithful adaptation from the J.K. Rowling books. But the Sorcerer’s Stone left out some plot details.

We still can’t quite believe that the first Harry Potter movie was released 18 years ago. It feels like only yesterday that everybody was flocking to their local cinema to see the Boy Who Lived’s first outing which, as expected, took the box office by storm.

But while the movie is perhaps the most faithful to the core material, it still left out many details from the books. Here is Harry Potter: 10 Major Things The Movie Left Out From The Sorcerer’s Stone.

Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone

Harry Potter is an orphaned boy brought up by his unkind Muggle aunt and uncle. At the age of eleven, half-giant Rubeus Hagrid informs him that he is actually a wizard and that his parents were murdered by an evil wizard named Lord Voldemort. Voldemort also attempted to kill one-year-old Harry on the same night, but his killing curse mysteriously rebounded and reduced him to a weak and helpless form. Harry became extremely famous in the Wizarding World as a result. Harry begins his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and learns about magic. During the year, Harry and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger become entangled in the mystery of the Philosopher’s Stone which is being kept within the school.

Daily Box Office: Ralph Is Breaking Record Books

Official Trailer | Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Its Thanksgiving long weekend, which means many studios are closed and are not reporting official numbers. However, one of the studios that is reporting numbers is Disney and they are reporting record-breaking numbers. Ralph Breaks the Internet earned $18.5 million on Wednesday, which is significantly more than either Coco or Moana managed the previous two years. In fact, this is more than Frozen managed during its record-breaking wide expansion back in 2013. This films reviews are great and it earned an A minus from CinemaScore, so it should have good legs and could top Frozens $93.59 million five-day opening. In fact, some studios think it has a real chance of $100 million during its five-day opening. Im not that bullish, but even if it only earns $90 million over five-days, it will still be a monster hit and way more than we predicted. More…

Additionally, why Harry Potter and the cursed child is not a movie? While Rowling has confirmed that a movie is not on the way, many believe she is keeping things on the down-low, and that she not been granted permission to announce the news. A while back, We Got This Covered, released a story stating that Warner Bros. plans to release a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie.

In respect to this, will there be a Harry Potter 9?

The new movie will reportedly take place 19 years after ‘Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows’ and it will focus on Harry’s son, Albus Severus Potter. What Happens To Norbert

Harry Potter is just as exasperated at Hagrid for obtaining Norbert the dragon in the books as he is the movies. Yet the dragon is somewhat looked over on the big screen, perhaps due to the fact they needed to cram plenty of action in for the blockbuster’s final act.

In the books, Harry and Hermione put their time at Hogwarts at risk by travelling to the Astronomy Tower after dark and passing the dragon off to Ron’s older brother, Charlie Weasley. Yet in the movie it’s revealed that Norbert was just sent away to Romania by Professor Dumbledore instead. That doesn’t mean Harry avoids a trip to the Forbidden Forest, however…
