Sneaky Trick Number Three For Nabbing Those Tickets

Now I know that I said that you have next to zero chance for nabbing tickets to Harry Potter land in London without booking them at least a couple of months in advance but guess what I lied.

Well, kind of.

You can get last-minute tickets on the website if youre willing to be flexible and just take whatever day and time is available. I booked my tickets on Tuesday to go on the Sunday of the same week and was pretty lucky that the tour started at 2pm so I had loads of time to make my way around.

There were only a couple of tickets for the Sunday available and a few more for the following Monday and Tuesday after which the earliest I could book was 2.5 months later.

Its a big gamble definitely not one Id recommend taking if youre only in the country for a short period but it is always worth checking.

Warner Bros Studio Where Harry Potter Was Filmed Catches Fire

Fangirling At The Harry Potter Studios In London

Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden outside London, where the Harry Potter movies were filmed, suffered a fire late Wednesday, THR reports.

Leavesden now houses its Warner Bros. Studio Tour London The Making of Harry Potter attraction, which was not affected by the fire extinguished by fire police early Thursday. The fire hit a soundstage that was not in use and no casualties were reported.

In addition to all eight Harry Potter films and both Fantastic Beasts films, productions that filmed at Leavesden include The Dark Knight, Wonder Woman, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

HBO’s space comedy Avenue 5 was filming on the location, with HBO reporting production on the series under Veep creator Armando Iannucci “continues as the producers and writers assess the best plan to complete filming of the final two episodes of the series.”

“The Chief Fire Officer has confirmed that the fire which occurred on one of our sound stages, being used by the television production Avenue 5, has been fully extinguished,” Leavesden said in a statement.

“Our principal concern is always people’s safety and we would like to thank Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Services for all their hard work in containing the situation. All productions were able to continue working and the Studio Tour was unaffected.”

Dont Whizz Through The Great Hall Too Fast In Fact Dont Whizz Through Any Of The Tour Too Fast

The tour starts with a couple of short intros one in a small room where you can see the cast on small screens above you and marvel at how much older they look. Then start thinking about how much older you must be too and actually get so wrapped up in this that you actually end up missing everything they say.

The second intro film is a much grander affair and in an actual cinema. Now, once you finish that second film, the doors beyond open and youre let into the Hogwarts Dining Hall.

What do you get when you take lots and lots of very keen Harry Potter fans, lock them in a dark room and then let them loose onto one of the films most exciting sets?

I think mayhem is the word that youre looking for. I had a whole family push into my photo, pretty much stampeding over me to nab a picture with a statue of Dumbledore.

No worries though, jokes on them because I just waited behind until almost all of the people had trampled their way through to the next room and quietly took my pictures and had a nose around the now empty hall.

Dont take too long though you only have a certain period of time until the next group of people are released from the cinema room and into the frenzy.

That advice applies to all of the tour actually unless youre in one of the later slots you have all the time that you need to make your way around, take millions of pictures and absolutely live your best Harry Potter life.

The Lacock Abbey Warming Room / Quirrels Defence Against The Dark Arts Classroom

This room at Lacock Abbey would have been the nuns favourite room as it was the only place that they were allowed a fire in!

Yep, and whats more the fire could only be lit from November to Easter! So, it would have been freezing for the nuns.;

In Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, the warming room was used by Professor Quirrel as his Defence against the Dark Arts classroom!

It was filmed on set without any CGI and was decorated with all sorts of plants, curious things, and of course Quirrels pet iguana.

The huge cauldron here that features in the movies was not a Harry Potter prop that has left behind. In fact, its has been a part of the abbey since the 1500s!;

It was made in Antwerp but there is very little recorded of it. So, no one really knows why its here! But, there are many theories with the most popular being that it was used by the nuns for cooking.

There is a local legend that says that the cauldron was used for Queen Anne in the early 1700s. Apparently, pork and a sack load of peas were prepared for Her Majesty to eat.

Defence Against the Dark Arts Class, anyone?
