‘harry Potter’ Actor Fatally Stabbed In London

A teenage actor who will appear in the forthcoming “Harry Potter” movie was stabbed to death in a brawl outside a south London bar early Saturday, police said.

Rob Knox, 18, was caught up in a fight outside the Metro Bar in Sidcup just after midnight, London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement. The teen’s death, less than two weeks after another youngster was brutally slain only a few miles away, has focused the British capital’s attention on knife crime.

Knox plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby in “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince,” the sixth cinematic installment of the wildly popular Harry Potter series, set for release this fall. Warner Brothers said it was shocked by the news.

Knox was one of five young men and boys taken to various hospitals across the capital after the brawl, police said. Among them was a 21-year-old who has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The fight did not appear to be gang-related, police added, but it puts the number of violent teenage deaths in London at 14 so far this year. Knox played on the same rugby club as another recent teenage victim, Jimmy Mizen, who was fatally stuck with a piece of glass outside a south London bakery earlier this month after refusing to take part in a fight.

England and Wales’ homicide rate is more than three times lower than that of the U.S., according to 2005 statistics, but the parade of young victims on the nightly news has disquieted Londoners.

Harry Potter Cast Members You May Not Know Passed Away

After the original series of Harry Potter novels started topping bestsellers’ lists in the late 1990s, a film franchise was pretty much an inevitability. The first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone , was released in 2001, leading to a decade-long Potter marathon at theaters and box offices across the globe.

With child stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint leading the films as Harry himself and his two best friends Ron and Hermione, the younger actors in the Potter franchise were supported by some of England’s finest actors, including Dame Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent, Emma Thompson, and more. However, during and since the ten-year run of the Harry Potter film franchise, some members of the cast unfortunately passed away and no matter whether these actors left fans behind during the franchise or after it had concluded, these losses still left Potter fans devastated. From Potions masters to Ministry officials to magical creatures, here’s a list of Harry Potter cast members you may not know passed away. Spoilers for theHarry Potterseries to follow!

Harry Potter Stars Who’ve Sadly Passed Away

Harry Potter actor Richard Griffiths dies aged 65

Harry Potter has been enchanting audiences for years whether you’re a fan of the book series, or it was the films that captured your imagination, Harry Potter is a staple throughout collective, international culture. Ask yourselves: What other series has so many intricate characters, so many unique creatures, rituals, and traditions, and keeps us coming back time and time again? The only answer is Harry Potter.

J.K. Rowling brought an entirely new world to the pages of her books, and it was up to the actors throughout the film series to bring the characters to life in front of our eyes. So many people have said since the films premiered that the casting of Harry, Hermione, and Ron couldn’t have been more perfect and that Snape was just as true in the films as he was in the books. But, of course, as time has passed, beloved actors who made the wizarding world what it was have since died.

We’re taking a look back at some of the cast members of the Harry Potter film series who are no longer with us and are celebrating all that they represented on screen. Here are the Harry Potter stars who’ve sadly passed away.

John Hurt Who Played Harry Potter’s Beloved Wandmaker Mr Ollivander Died In 2017

Any fan of the Harry Potter series knows that wand selection is a very serious business, and no wandmaker had the influence quite like Mr. Ollivander. “The wand chooses the wizard, Mr. Potter. It’s not always clear why,” Mr. Ollivander said to the young Harry Potter, and, in an instant, an iconic scene from the film series was born. The beloved wandmaker was brought to life by the BAFTA award-winning actor John Hurt, who sadly died in 2017 from pancreatic cancer.

As noted by BBC News at the time of his death, Hurt had made quite the name for himself from his performances in films including Alien and Midnight Express, but fans of the wizarding world knew him as the man behind every wand sale. Hurt’s wife described her husband as a man known for bringing “joy and magic” to those around him, a very fitting description given his role in J.K. Rowling’s world. “So very sad to hear that the immensely talented and deeply beloved John Hurt has died,” Rowling tweeted at the time of his death. “My thoughts are with his family and friends.”

Alan Rickman 1946 To 2016

His family confirmed that he was “surrounded by family and friends” when he died.

We’ve Already Lost Too Many Harry Potter Actors

Nobody could have predicted how successful J. K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series would be. But with each book she released, the tales garnered more and more attention, culminating in a global and cult following. The reach of her magical world was extended further when Warner Bros. brought the series to the big screen. Currently, the collective Wizarding World movie franchise is the third highest-grossing film franchise of all time .

2021 marked two significant milestones for the “Harry Potter” film franchise. It celebrated the 10th anniversary of the eighth and final film “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” in July 2011. This is followed closely by the 20th anniversary of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” which launched the film franchise in November 2001.

It’s hard to imagine that “Harry Potter” was brought to the big screen two decades ago, yet, time flies, and sadly, some stars who helped to make the iconic franchise are now no longer with us. We’ve already lost too many “Harry Potter” actors, so let’s celebrate the legacy all these screen legends have left behind.

Rob Knox Who Brought Marcus Belby To The Screen In Harry Potter Tragically Died At Age 18

This death within the Harry Potter film franchise is just tragic: At the young age of 18, actor Rob Knox who played Marcus Belby was fatally stabbed in South East London in 2008. As noted by The Guardian, Knox was killed by 22-year-old Karl Bishop outside a club. Bishop seriously injured four friends who were accompanying Knox at the time, one left with permanent spine damage.

Bishop was sentenced to life in prison for the act, but the tragedy left a huge hole in the Harry Potter world and beyond. Just a handful of days before his death, Knox had wrapped filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince the film’s premiere would later be dedicated to him. The director of the film, David Yates, reflected on Knox’s tragic death. “You are surrounded by young people all day long who bring a great commitment to what they do, and Rob was no different,” Yates said, as noted by The Guardian. “He came in and wanted to do brilliant work, he put his heart and soul into it, and you just think ‘what a terrible waste.'”
