Why Did Voldemort HAVE to Kill the Potters? – Harry Potter Explained

In the second instalment, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Rowling introduces Tom Marvolo Riddle, a manifestation of a teenage Voldemort that resides inside a magical diary found by Ginny Weasley. In this book, Ginny is written as a shy girl with a crush on Harry. Feeling anxious and lonely, she begins to write into the diary and shares her deepest fears with the sympathetic Tom. However, at the climax of the story, when Riddle rearranges the letters in his name to write “I am Lord Voldemort”, Riddle is revealed as a magical manifestation of the boy who would later grow up to become the Dark Lord. Riddle states he has grown strong on Ginny’s fears and eventually possesses her, using her as a pawn to unlock the Chamber of Secrets, whence a basilisk is set free and petrifies several Hogwarts students. Harry defeats the manifestation of Riddle from the diary and the basilisk. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Albus Dumbledore reveals to Harry that the diary was one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes.

The Killing Of Dumbledore By Snape

There were several speculations on the rationale behind the killing of Dumbledore by Snape. Experts eventually believed that Dumbledore wanted to preserve Malfoys soul and want Voldemort to trust Snape fully; hence he asked Snape to go ahead with the killing.

Aside from killing Dumbledore, viewers believed that Snape must have been terrified by his past. That was why he approached Dumbledore when he admitted his atrocities and pleaded with him to preserve the Potters lives. In return for this gesture, Snape decided to pledge allegiance to Dumbledore alongside the Phoenixs order, which made him a double agent.

Being a powerful wizard, Snape used his power of Occlumency to hide his true identity and betrayal from Voldemort. He was, though, more loyal to the good side, his forage into the dark side put him in serious trouble against Voldemort on several occasions.

Theory: Voldemort Planned To Impersonate Harry

The aforementioned Tumblr user went on to explain a theory that expands on why that portkey could transport people to the graveyard and back to a specific spot at Hogwarts. This theory suggests that Voldemorts plan was to infiltrate Hogwarts by impersonating Harry Potter, and to achieve this, he needed some of his hair to brew a polyjuice potion. As for the rest of his body, it would have been Naginis dinner, as Voldemort often promised her.

Voldemort already had a spy at Hogwarts thanks to Barty Crouch Jr posing as Alastor Moody, who made the whole Triwizard Tournament plan possible in the first place by putting Harrys name in the Goblet of Fire and helping him get to the cup . Of course, this wasnt enough for the Dark Lord as he needed to get into Hogwarts himself, and he could have achieved this by posing as Harry Potter. The author of the theory shares that Voldemort would have gone back to Hogwarts as Harry thanks to the portkey and Crouch Jr would have taken his place later on. However, it would have been very risky for Voldemort to just ditch his cover while at Hogwarts, so the best they could have done was keep posing as Harry and Moody.

Professor QuirrellHarry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Voldemort makes his debut in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. In this story, Rowling introduces him as the Dark Lord who tried to kill Harry Potter because the boy was prophesied to destroy him. Voldemort murdered Harry’s parents, James and Lily, but as a result of his mother’s love and willingness to sacrifice herself for him, baby Harry survived when Voldemort tried to murder him with a Killing Curse. Voldemort was disembodied, and Harry was left with a mysterious, lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead as a result.

In the book, Voldemort unsuccessfully tries to regain his dissolved body by stealing the titular Philosopher’s Stone. To achieve his objective, Voldemort uses Professor Quirrell’s aid by latching onto the back of the latter’s head. However, at the climax of the book, Harry manages to prevent Voldemort from stealing the stone.

With Pettigrews help he made a temporary potion with unicorn blood and Naginis venom to achieve a rudimentary body . However, full regeneration required a potion made from bone from his father , flesh from a servant , and blood from an enemy . Ollivander Loses Money On Every Wand He Sells

Why lord voldemort Want to kill harry potter | Prophecy Explained In HINDI

The Harry Potter tribute band Harry and the Potters has a fantastic song about how wizard economics make absolutely no sense. The best example is how a unicorn hair costs 10 galleons while a wand from Ollivander some of which contain unicorn hair and other expensive cores like dragon heartstring and phoenix feathers will only cost you seven galleons.

Assuming he;doesnt cut the hair while making the wand, Ollivander is selling his wands at a loss of at least three galleons.

Snape love Lily when he was 9 years old after ending their friendship, he still loved Lily. The love for Lily caused him as a spy of Voldemort to take revenge, as he killed her.

His Change In Appearance Came Before He Killed The Potters

Between his years at Hogwarts and his destruction at Godric’s Hollow, his immersion in the Darkest of the Dark Arts changed his appearance and made him look pale and snake-like. There didn’t seem to be any noticeable difference between how he looked before killing the Potters and after his resurrection.

The Godric’s Hollow scenes happened too quickly for me to get good screenshots, but you can see in this video how Voldemort looked like the noseless monster we know when he killed Harry’s parents:

In the books, we get to see him in an intermediate stage during the years of his rise to power:

Voldemort had entered the room. His features were not those Harry had seen emerge from the great stone cauldron almost two years before; they were not as snake-like, the eyes were not yet scarlet, the face not yet masklike, and yet he was no longer handsome Tom Riddle. It was as though his features had been burned and blurred; they were waxy and oddly distorted, and the whites of his eyes now had a permanently bloody look, though the pupils were not yet the slits that Harry knew they would become.

Magical Abilities And Skills

Rowling establishes Voldemort throughout the series as an extremely powerful, intelligent, and ruthless dark wizard, described as the greatest and most powerful Dark Wizard of all time. He is known as one of the greatest Legilimens in the world and a highly accomplished Occlumens; he can read minds and shield his own from penetration. Besides Dumbledore, he is also the only wizard ever known to be able to apparate silently. Voldemort was also said to fear one wizard alone, Dumbledore.

On her website, Rowling wrote that Voldemort’s wand is made of yew, whose sap is poisonous and which symbolises death. It forms a deliberate contrast to Harry’s wand, which is made of holly, which she chose because holly is alleged to repel evil.

Rowling establishes in the books that Voldemort is magically connected to Harry via Harry’s forehead scar. He disembodies himself when his Killing Curse targeting Harry rebounds on him, leaving the scar on Harry’s forehead. In the books, and to a lesser extent in the films, Harry’s scar serves as an indicator of Voldemort’s presence: it burns when the Dark Lord is near or when Voldemort is feeling murderous or exultant. According to Rowling, by attacking Harry when he was a baby Voldemort gave him “tools no other wizard possessedthe scar and the ability it conferred, a magical window into Voldemort’s mind”.

The Triwizard Tournament Sounds Terribly Boring If You’re A Spectator

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

The Triwizard Tournament was held during Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as a way to bring together the schools of Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. There were three challenges for the champions to get through, which were meant to be thrilling.;

But when the spectators came to watch and enjoy the tournament, only one out of the three events was actually worth watching. The first challenge was an exciting fight against a dragon, but the second task took place at the bottom of a lake and the third task was in a secretive maze. The audience must have simply stared at the lake or maze for an hour, waiting for something to happen.;

Youd think for magical wizards they could have come up with some way for spectators to watch and enjoy the tournament.

Why Did Voldemort Want Lilly To Join The Death Eaters

In the books its established early that Voldemort wanted the Potters to join him, and they refused; it is even stated by Rowling to be one of the ways they defied him.

Thing is that Mrs Potter was a muggle born; and hence the very last person Voldemorts philosophy would let join.

So? All Voldemort really cares about is power an immortality Im sure he believes in muggle inferiority, but his emphasis on that as a philosophy is more a recruiting and legitimizing tool than anything else. If breaking with that doctrine will give him useful people, and he can still keep the anti-muggle crowd in line, why not do it?

This is a man who splintered his own soul for immortality and power. He isnt squeamish.

And remember that Voldemort was half Muggle himself. Consistency was not his one of his strong points.

And remember that Voldemort was half Muggle himself. Consistency was not his one of his strong points.

QFT. And remember that two boys could have fit the parameters of the prophecy, detailing the one who could vanquish the dark lord. Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. Neville was full blooded, i.e., born to a very powerful couple of wizards, in a long line of pure blooded wizards. Harry was more like 3/4s wizard . Voldemort was himself, only half.

He considered sparing her as a boon to Snape, who had asked for her. Yes, like a trophy or a prize. ::spits on the ground.::

Why Did Lord Voldemort Hate Harry Potter

Voldemort didn’t hate Harry at first, he was scared of him. Aprophecy said that a child born at the end of July to parents whohad thrice defied Voldemort would have the power to vanquishhim.

Both Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom fitted this, hadVoldemort heard the rest of the prophecy he would know that hedidn’t have to fulfil the prophecy because Voldemort would ‘markhim as his equal’.

Voldemort just wanted rid of Harry because Harry could stop him.He started to hate Harry after he kept escaping from him.

Who Did Harry Potter Go To When His Parents Died

This is important in the later books / movies. JK Rowling herself said that Hagrid was always safe from being killed- as she had the image of him carrying Harrys lifeless body during the Battle of Hogwarts. Hagrid brings Harry to, and takes Harry from number 4 Privet drive for a clean end to a chapter of Harrys life.

Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone | Voldemort

Definitely!! She cared about Harry almost as much as she cared about Lily. Although she refrained from letting it be seen. It would have been really easy for the Dursleys to have sent Harry to an orphanage or something, had Petunia not cared about her sisters son and kept him all through his childhood.

A discussion in limbo regarding power and leadership

Shortly thereafter, Albus, who had been exchanging owls with the famous researcher as far back when he had been a student at Hogwarts, travelled to France and spent some time in Paris studying the ancient art and science of alchemy under the tutelage of Nicholas Flamel. He presumably did so in order to both give his brother some space, as well as to get away for a bit and spend his time grieving more productively than he otherwise would have done simply wallowing in his own misery. It is unknown when exactly he returned to Britain, but around the time he did, Albus had become intrigued with the study of dragons blood, and was ultimately credited with the discovery of no less than twelve new uses for it; ) an accomplishment that earned him widespread recognition and ultimately played no small role in the subsequent offer he received of a teaching position at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Having always had a deep fondness for the old school and felt drawn towards teaching even as a student, Albus was happy to accept.

Wizard Children Learn No Basic Reading Writing Or Math Skills

Harry, Hermione, and the other Muggle-raised witches and wizards are all taught at least basic math and reading skills;before attending Hogwarts.

But once they get to Hogwarts, their Muggle education is done and they focus on magical classes like;Transfiguration, Arithmancy, Charms, and others. During the seven years the students spend;at Hogwarts, they are never taught advanced math, literature, music, health, or any foreign languages.

That would be tragic enough, but as far as we can tell, students from magical families;dont go to any school at all until theyre 11 years old and receive their letter from Hogwarts.

Is this why Hagrid and Mr. Weasley have so much trouble with Muggle money? Is this the reason Ron needs Hermione to help him so often with his school work since;he was never taught to properly write an essay?

So many questions, so little education.
