Completion Of The Series
In December 2005, Rowling stated on her web site, “2006 will be the year when I write the final book in the Harry Potter series.” Updates then followed in her online diary chronicling the progress of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with the release date of 21 July 2007. The book itself was finished on 11 January 2007 in the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, where she scrawled a message on the back of a bust of Hermes. It read: “J. K. Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room on 11 January 2007.”
Rowling herself has stated that the last chapter of the final book was completed “in something like 1990”. In June 2006, Rowling, on an appearance on the British talk show Richard & Judy, announced that the chapter had been modified as one character “got a reprieve” and two others who previously survived the story had in fact been killed. On 28 March 2007, the cover art for the Bloomsbury Adult and Child versions and the Scholastic version were released.
In September 2012, Rowling mentioned in an interview that she might go back to make a “director’s cut” of two of the existing Harry Potter books.

In the books, there’s a scene in which Aunt Petunia dyes her son Dudley’s old clothes gray so Harry can wear them as his school uniform. The clothes are huge on him, and this is one of many things the Dursleys do that shows their vile treatment toward Harry.
This detail, however, is never mentioned explicitly in the films, but you can see Aunt Petunia dying the clothes in the background of “The Sorcerer’s Stone.”
When Harry Gets The Firebolt
Harry’s prized Nimbus 2000 broomstick is destroyed in the Quidditch match against Hufflepuff. His godfather Sirius Black sends him a Firebolt to replace his destroyed broomstick. Harry receives the Firebolt about halfway through the book and doesn’t know who sent it.
Harry doesn’t receive the Firebolt until the end of the film, though. Even though there is no note, the Firebolt also comes with one of Buckbeak’s feathers, making it clear that the gift is from Sirius as he escaped with Buckbeak.

“The Deathly Hallows Part II” concludes the “Potter” saga pretty perfectly, and it does so by flashing back to the first few entries in ways you may not notice at first.
In the climactic Battle of Hogwarts, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and co. fight off trolls, acromantula , a werewolf , and dementors. These are all enemies they fought in the first three movies.
In “The Sorcerer’s Stone,” Harry and Ron saved Hermione from a cave troll in the girl’s bathroom in “The Chamber of Secrets,” Harry and Ron fought off Aragog and his colony of acromantula and in “The Prisoner of Azkaban,” the trio faced a werewolf and a horde of dementors.

Christmas is right around the corner, and that can only mean one thing – the Harry Potterfranchise will be on TV.
The adventures of the boy wizard, played by Daniel Radcliffe, were a must-see staple of our childhood – with Harry’s time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry almost as rememberable as our own school days.
While we love all eight films equally, a group of Harry Potter fans have now voted on Ranker that the third movie in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, is the best one of the lot.
The 2004 film, directed by Alfonso Cuaron, see Harry, Ron and Hermione enter their third year of Hogwarts – with news that a notorious killer Sirius Black has kept the fearful Azkaban Prison.
With the school being guarded by soul-sucking Dementors, and the news that Black has Harry in his sights, the infamous Boy Who Lived now faces more life-threatening peril as he digs his way to the bottom of another mystery.
The film may be best known for its final few scenes, in which Harry manages to finally cast a fully-formed Patronus Charm to defeat the hoards of Dementors.
However, it may also be remembered for the scene where Hermione punches school bully, Draco Malfoy squarely in the face.
It was a tightly run-contest, however, with David Yates’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 coming in at second place.

The Making Of Harry Potter
In March 2011, Warner Bros. announced plans to build a tourist attraction in the United Kingdom to showcase the Harry Potter film series. The Making of Harry Potter is a behind-the-scenes walking tour featuring authentic sets, costumes and props from the film series. The attraction is located at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, where all eight of the Harry Potter films were made. Warner Bros. constructed two new sound stages to house and showcase the famous sets from each of the British-made productions, following a £100 million investment. It opened to the public in March 2012.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
And suddenly the series which had started out as a childrens movie descends into its grimmest hour. Death, fury, murder, torture, and the death of Dobby. The first of the films not to feature a trip to Hogwarts, suddenly life is much more dangerous for our exhausted magical trio. Theres no going through the motions here for the actors either. Without the safe walls of Hogwarts, real emotions and real tragedy is the order of the day, making Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 an impressive and genuinely emotional journey. Acting chops are challenged but theres a proper sense of gravitas to proceedings.
The decision to separate the final book into two movies pays dividends here as David Yates takes the right amount of time to line up the final movie of the almost decade long franchise. One particular highlight – other than the painful loss of Dobby, Mad-Eye Moody, and Hedwig – is the addition of a beautiful animation to explain the tale of the three brothers and the mythical titular Deathly Hallows. Helena Bonham Carter too is a livewire as Bellatrix Lestrange who heads into the follow up with the blood of Dobby on her hands as well as Sirius Black from earlier in the franchise.
Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire Set In 1994/95
Today, mainstream audiences are finally coming around to Robert Pattinson and appreciating him for the fantastic actor he is, acknowledging all the great work he has done post-Twilight. Pre-Twilight, though, he had a great outing in this Potter film.
Of course, Cedric Diggory is not the main focus of the fourth Potter movie but is a crucial element to it. Many fans remain disappointed at the lack of tournament we get to see, which is a fair criticism. However, this movie, set in Harry’s fourth year, is another solid entry to the franchise.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 Set In 1997/98
The first of the main Potter movies to not be set at all at Hogwarts, Deathly Hallows: Part I is a slower movie and calls for some patience from the audience who are eagerly anticipating the climax.
It takes place across what would be Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s final year at Hogwarts, moving into the first half of 1998. It does, at times, feel like a stepping stone to get to the next film, but it has so much great stuff in its own right and is a good watch for those who are fans of the films when paired with the finale.

In 2000, after a seven-month search, lead actor Daniel Radcliffe was discovered by producer David Heyman and writer Steve Kloves seated just behind them in a theatre. The Prisoner Of Azkaban is not one of those lesser Harry Potter films, though, and again, follows the same school year to school year structure as the previous two films while also taking the entire series in a new direction.
With Alfonso Cuarón at the helm, this movie has a darker tone and begins a trend of Potter films becoming more mature and more assured in their craft. Save for that bizarre final shot, the movie is gorgeous, well-acted, and many will argue the very best of the movie series.

Jeremy Soule and James Hannigan wrote the music for the Harry Potter video games.

One of these franchises, alongside the likes of the MCU and Star Wars, is the fantastical British phenomenon, Harry Potter.

So far, there are ten cinematic films released from the franchise, which are based on the iconic book series with at the very least three more on the way. Considering the ongoing films are prequels, some may get confused or simply wonder about the in-universe chronology of these movies.
Differences From Earlier Films In The Series
One possible explanation could be that Hagrid was promoted to new bigger living quarters closer to the castle after getting the Care of Magical Creatures job, enabling him to perform both his teaching and grounds-keeping duties easily. It would also give students a safer place to take lessons, away from the forest.
- The location of the portrait of the Fat Lady, the entrance to the Gryffindor Common Room, has been moved to the Grand Staircase. The appearance of the Fat Lady has also changed, with a different actress, background, and ball gown from the first film: In the first film, the Fat Lady is played by Elizabeth Spriggs. She is shown with black hair and a pink silk dress and she doesn’t seem to have much personality. Oddly, this version of her is not particularly fat. Her portrait is located at the end of a corridor somewhere in the castle, but its location is never specified. The Fat Lady as portrayed by Spriggs moves only when approached by a student and very little at that. She also asks for the password, ensuring more effective concealment of the common room. In the first film, given the Fat Lady’s dress and background, she seems to have lived in the sixteenth century Europe. The Spriggs version of the Fat Lady’s portrait is also used in the video game adaptations of Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets.
