In the US as of May 2021, as well as being able to rent or buy the Harry Potter movies on services like Amazon, they’re all streaming on the Peacock service. At the time of writing, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban are available to stream for free with ads, while the rest are behind the paywall. From June 1, all eight movies are available to stream on HBO Max again, too.
In the UK, you can’t currently stream the movies, but you can rent them on Amazon, iTunes and more. The complete Harry Potter series is also available on Blu-Ray.
The Fantastic Beasts movies aren’t currently streaming in the US or the UK.

The Harry Potter films remain wildly popular, but due to a complex rights deal their streaming home is in constant fluctuation between WarnerMedias HBO Max and NBCUniversals Peacock. The eight films spent a majority of the year on Peacock, but they have been available on HBO Max since September 1. However, the franchise is set to switch services once again. The saga will return to Peacock on October 15. The two Fantastic Beasts films will not.
When they were available earlier this year, the first three films were available at the free tier of Peacock with ads. The last five films were only available to Peacock Premium subscribers. The paid service costs $4.99 per month or $9.99 per month for an ad-free version. It has not been yet revealed which films will appear on each tier in October.

HBO Max had one big surprise for subscribers as all Harry Potter movies are available to stream, even though they weren’t expected to be.

The streaming wars are still on and continue to heat up during the coronavirus pandemic, as viewers now have to get their dose of movies and TV shows through the many streaming services now available. Warner has officially joined the battle with HBO Max, which includes content not only from Warners catalogue but also HBO, Cartoon Network, and more.
Like most streaming services, HBO Max will have both licensed and original content, but for now, its biggest strength is its catalogue of movies and TV shows, which includes titles like all movies from the DCEU and Studio Ghibli, and fan-favorite series like Friends, Doctor Who, and Game of Thrones. However, not all movies from Warner will be available from day one for different reasons, such as the Harry Potter series but the studio had a last minute surprise.

Why Is Harry Potter Available Only In Some Countries On Netflix
Because Netflix only bought the licensing rights for those regions. They werent able to get global rights because the copyright holder probably already sold the distribution rights for other countries to other TV networks and streaming sites.
So Netflix might have the right to show the first Harry Potter movie in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Portugal, but it cant legally stream it anywhere else. They might get sued by their competitors if they do that.
Whats more, even if the Harry Potter rights become available for your country, that doesnt automatically mean Netflix will buy them. They use data mining first to determine whether or not theres enough interest in those movies in your region. If there isnt, they wont purchase the rights.
It sounds bad, we know, but please understand that Netflix spends a lot of money on licensing content. In 2019, Netflixs content assets were valued at around $24.5 billion. Out of that, licensed content accounted for roughly $14.7 billion. So buying licensing rights isnt as simple as people would think itd be. Its an investment that takes a lot of planning and needs to have a guaranteed ROI.
