Friday Estimates: Fantastic Dominates Charts But With Just $297 Million

HARRY POTTER and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) Movie reaction! FIRST TIME WATCHING!

As expected, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them easily earned first place on Friday. However, it only managed $29.7 million, which was well below expectations. This is the worst opening day in the Harry Potter franchise since The Chamber of Secrets. The reviews are weaker than the franchise as a whole, but its CinemaScore is an A and thats roughly average for the previous 8 Harry Potter films. The film should still earn between $70 million and $75 million over the weekend, depending on if the high CinemaScore can overcome the Fanboy Effect. I would choose to be optimistic, but that hasnt worked out this weekend. More…

Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone/harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone

This is the start of the Harry Potter story where you meet Harry for the first time as he heads to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, set in 1991 – but the film was released in 2001. You meet many of the main characters at Hogwarts, including the introduction of Lord Voldemort, Harry’s arch nemesis, with the action revolving around the Philosopher’s Stone. That stone belonged to Nicholas Flamel, who you don’t actually meet until Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

The Chamber Of Secrets: Close Friends

In The Chamber of Secrets, the two are friends from the start, but their relationship hasn’t yet really begun to deepen into anything more . However, some fans can spot the moments where the first stirrings of Ron’s crush on Hermione can be seen. First up, he is extremely annoyed by her own crush on Gilderoy Lockhart, and beyond that, he gets extremely upset when she is insulted and when she is petrified. Of course, this could just be seen as a very good friend expressing concern and dismissing a silly crush, but fans of the pair like to see it as something more.

The Half Blood Prince: Won

The Half-Blood Prince marks the first movie where the characters really get involved in romantic relationships. For Ron and Hermione, this means that Hermione actually asks Ron to go to the Slughorn Christmas party with her, and for a moment it seems that this could be the start of something. However, it all goes wrong when Ginny tells Ron that Hermione had kissed Krum in the past – at which point Ron gets extremely jealous and upset.

Ron starts going out with Lavender Brown after he becomes a star Quidditch player, and spends all his time snogging her publicly and with the pair cooing pet names at each other. Hermione, furious, attacks Ron with a flock of magical canaries, and the two stop speaking. In the end, though, when Ron is poisoned, it is Hermione that he asks for as soon as he wakes up, and his relationship with Lavender comes to an end, leaving Ron and Hermione still not official, but clearly interested.

The Deathly Hallows Part : Ron’s Jealousy & Abandoning The Trio

By the start of the Deathly Hallows, Ron and Hermione are all but together, and Harry seems to acknowledge that their relationship is an unacknowledged fact. However, the two don’t actually admit their feelings to each other, in part because they are too busy dealing with Horcruxes and dodging Voldemort’s forces to do so. However, they have some truly sweet moments , and Hermione is devastated when Ron storms out on them. He returns by the end of the movie, and admits his feelings to Harry , but not to Hermione herself.

However, they do manage to make up, and there are some more hints at romance to come – when Hermione grabs his arm in Care of Magical Creatures class, and when Ron continues to stand up for her when no one else will.

The Goblet Of Fire: Jealous Over Other Crushes

Ron and Hermione’s relationship seems defined by jealousies almost from the start but it’s not until The Goblet of Fire that this really starts to become an issue. Here, Ron finally gets around to asking Hermione out – but only does it as an insulting afterthought, and is turned down.

He ends up incredibly jealous of Victor Krum, who takes Hermione to the dance, despite the fact that he was a huge fan of Krum’s before this. Hermione has her own moments of jealousy here too, getting upset at Ron’s reactions to the Veela at the Quidditch World Cup, but it’s Ron’s jealousy that really makes it obvious that he’s got a secret crush on his friend.

What Did Hagrid Do To Dudley

Harry Potter and the First Day at Hogwarts (#1)

Look at Hagrid’s face, that devil. Here he is at Hogwarts, seemingly minding his own business. But, we get the feeling that he’s thinking back fondly on when he first met Harry Potter. That night was a miracle for young Harry, and a nightmare for Dudley. It’s hard not to feel bad for a kid who has to experience such punishment, but somehow, we don’t feel bad at all. That’s just what you get when you eat a wizard’s birthday cake by the handful, like a pig.

As we mentioned above, any Harry Potter installation must feature impossible obstacles in its third act. Not only did The Philosopher’s Stone pit Harry, Ron and Hermione against a giant, three-headed dog, but it also presented them with a horrific trap that could have easily taken their lives if Hermione hadn’t remembered a certain lesson by Professor Sprout. Thank the gods for Hermione, otherwise they’d all certainly be dead before any of the other books could be written. What were they trapped in?

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Set in 1926, Newt Scamander goes on an adventure to help an abused and neglected boy named Credence , and locate some of his missing creatures.

David Yates once again returns to the world of Harry Potter, this time way before the events of the first eight films. We meet a bunch of new characters in this one. Along with Newt, we meet American witches and wizards like Tina and her sister Queenie , a muggle/no-maj baker Jacob , and the infamous Gellert Grindelwald , whose crimes are mentioned throughout the Harry Potter series prior to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This film acts as a way to expand the Potterverse.

Differences Between Philosopher’s Stone And Sorcerer’s Stone Films

  • Five different takes were necessary to replace the words Philosopher’s Stone with Sorcerer’s Stone in the American version of the film. When the two DVDs were compared side by side it was noticed that in every case but one, only a slight difference in synchronisation was noticed. The most noticeable difference was when Hermione was reading from the book she had taken out of the library for a “bit of light reading”. The words on the page were changed from Philosopher’s to Sorcerer’s and her fingers, while straight in Philosopher’s they are bent in Sorcerer’s .

Weekend Prediction: Is Grindelwald Committing Crimes Against The Harry Potter Franchise

Harry Potter Movie Reaction First Time Watching Chamber of Secrets! (Part 1)

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the latest installment in the Harry Potter franchise, but sadly, its reviews are, by far, the worst in the franchise. It should still have no trouble earning first place and will very likely break even just on its international numbers, but this is still troubling for its future. The second biggest release of the week is Instant Family and its reviews are good, but not great. They are certainly fine for a family comedy. Widows is the best-reviewed new release, but its buzz is quiet enough that it will barely finish in the top five. Meanwhile, A Private War is expanding nationwide and that could help it earn a spot in the top ten, but I wouldnt bet on it. This weekend last year, Justice League opened with $93.84 million, while Wonder debuted in second place with $27.55 million. Add in The Stars $9.81 million opening and the three wide releases pulled in $130 million. Theres no way the new releases this year will match that and 2018 will likely lose in the year-over-year comparison. More…

Weekend Estimates: Ralph Slips Still Strong Hannah Tops Expectations Still Soft

Ralph Breaks the Internet will retain top spot on the weekend box office chart with an estimated $25.8 million for a two-week total of $119.3 million. Granted, this is lower than we predicted, but not so much lower than anyone at Disney should be panicking. Internationally, the film added an estimated $33.7 million in 27 markets, lifting its international total to $87.7 million after two weeks of release. Its only major market opening of the weekend was the U.K. where it reportedly earned $5.2 million. This is less than Wreck-It Ralph opened with, but that film debuted during the school holidays, so it got a boost. Ralph Breaks the Internet should have longer than average legs thanks to Christmas, but I dont think it will match its predecessor in this market. More…
